How I play that long hours? Because Bethesda developed Fallout 76 the perfect game I ever play. Live service is even more fun to play with online players team together, game is PvE I like the most, non-stop events, scoreboards, amazing atomic shop items, affordable micro transactions than compare to ESO, CAMP are awesome, longer game life, fun-matic, never ending. The single player games such as Fallout 4, Skyrim, Starfield are good, but a little boring to me when there’s no players around and feeling lonely, after completing the storylines and that’s it, end of the game then play start all over again, that’ll be short life game. I played Fallout 4 for few hundred hours and that’s it compare to Fallout 76 for several thousand hours. I consider Fallout 76 is the best game in Bethesda games history and masterpiece. I know a lot of gamers are against Fallout 76 just because it’s a “live service” and “about money” but to me Fallout 76 is the best game I ever play. Expand

On PC it was a better experience as I stated, instead of the 30fps you get via console I hit max 78 fps in certain places with lows around a dreadful 28fps at other times. The load screens were still the issue, now these could be due to the Gamepass version of the game is what I tested with so your experience may very. There were still stuttering in places and the fact I also had the game crash on the Xbox Series X a couple of times and even on PC with a Ryzen 5800 X3D, Nvidia 3060 OC, and 32GBs of Ram… on an NVMe SSD there was a lot of stutter in the game. Now these can be potentially patched out but we shall see. As of now I can not rate this game higher than a 7 unlike certain X users who call people delusional and bash them who rate this game honestly. Don’t buy into the hype yet, wait a few months before buying in.

At most this game is a 7 but it’s because at the time of writing this review and over 3 days worth of play time I can say it’s not really a complete game, it’s not worth the $70 price tag. Honestly if you get it, just go ahead and play it via gamepass or ask a friend to game share with you. It has bugs, texture fails, the trees in certain planets look like they were copy and pasted from an N64 game… also the water has no splash effects and doors seem to be floating away from the wall… Honestly I can’t stress this enough don’t waste $70 on this title only buy it via gamepass or for $30.

This game can both look astonishingly beautiful when you're standing on a hill and look around you, then for you to stumble into a canteen where the textures look copied from the Fallout New Vegas era.
The open world does not seem that open to me, I don't know If It's just me, but I don't feel like I am a part of something bigger out there when I'm traveling through the emptiness of most planets in the game, with the occasional spotting of a wild creature that I have seen on 10 different planets some hours ago.

Overall I would say that this game is a good one, definitely would recommend to try it out in GamePass. I would not however recommend to buy it for the 100$ or 80$ price range simply because I do not believe that it is worth as much.

The performance on PC is an absolute joke, especially if you're using a Nidia GPU. People with low spec systems have trouble running the game. People with high spec systems have trouble running the game. It's a disgrace that the modding community had to make custom patches and manually introduce DLSS because the developers of the game has failed to do this themselves. The developers keeps getting away with this because of the Bethesda fanbase is too forgiving.

The game is not worth the hype, don't believe a word from Todd Howard when he starts flogging Elder Scrolls 6.

The whole thing is a little too familiar and definitely a letdown when you consider the years and years of hype. If anything this game feels old fashioned in 2023.

If you're okay playing a new version of Skyrim or Fallout then this is exactly that! Definitely big and expansive just like those games were. You can put a lot of hours into Starfield if you don't get bored and bounce off first.

Don't buy a Series X just for this! If you already have GamePass then of course you've already downloaded it and played it for yourself.

This game could perfectly be called Fallout 5. It's as if they had copied things from Skirim, Fallout and other games, with the same sense of missions and mechanics with their procedural worlds that I don't like at all. But not everything is bad, the main missions are entertaining, the creation of the ships, which is their strong point, and the "linearity" that you can have in this game. I emphasize the worst thing is its AI, the truth is that it is the part that most disappointed me, no, being an rpg it must have some difficulty it doesn't matter if you increase the difficulty the nocs don't change their water they are just like a sponge from which they absorb a great amount of bullets haha .. The game looks quite meh on both PC and XSX but that is not even an issue to me.

The main quest is a bit boring but again, with Bethesda it's normal that the side quests are the actual juice.

There are some really cool features like ship design, outpost design and the combat is mostly ok.

Still there is one huge showstopper for me - exploration is simply extremly **** there is no incentive whatsoever to explore the planets, and in game which is supposedly about exploration, that is a deal breaker.

There should be several mechanics included in this type of game like actual extreme environment that damages your suit, O2 consumption, all that stuff we know from No Man's Sky e.g. Also, vehicles and at least a short description of a planet that you are landing on, just like in ME (flavour text is extremly important) not just raw data. A bit more interetsing fauna and flora, actual fuel consumption for jumping across systems. All that should be a must in a game about space exploration.

In short, to many elements of the game are simply shallow.

I'm giving it a 6 though it honestly should be a bit lower. The side quests and the world itself have a lot potential so I am expecting this game to be better with mods in DLCs. I will certainly wait for the moment when someone implements actual juice and incentive to the space exploration and then revisit but until then I will pause my playthrough.

PS. I really cannot understand how Cyberpunk ate so much **** on release and this game is so highly praised.

The soundtrack is done fairly well but I’d love to talk to whoever through having an alarms going off all the time was a good choice that’s just annoying they should have a timer or something. I mean come on guys. I know they can be shut off but in a firefight that can take a while and it gets sooooo annoying. Let’s talk graphics and why Todd’s out of touch with the community. The game does look pretty shiny but it’s not any better than other triple AAA releases and in some cases worse. The game engine seems to be poorly optimized. When a 4090 can barely pull 60fps native constantly there’s a problem. The decision to not support dssl blows the mind. Fsr is good but not on the same level of dssl yet it hampers the game. So when Todd says get a better rig and I have a ps5 that gave us games like God of war, Ghosts, Rachet and clank, horizon running at 60fps and looking really good. The problem isn’t our rigs it’s your engine and the optimization and choices you made. Not taking full advantage of the best possible hardware and giving options to the community for our choice of graphics cards is dumb. Makes me wonder what their test rigs were running ? Thankfully a community full of modders will make their game better and probably take it to where it should have been originally. Ultimately I still think it’s worth playing the main quest is done well and some side quests are fun. There’s some enjoyment to be had. After playing Baldurs gate 3, Zelda, and we still have Spider-Man 2 coming. I fail to see how anyone at all can say this deserves game of the year. It’s simply not even on the same level of these other titles. I question all the media outlets giving this game 4/5 or a 9/10 when the bar for great gaming has been raised so high and we got a reskinned Skyrim that no only doesn’t run as well. It also feels far emptier and less exciting on many ways than previous titles from Bethesda. So yeah it’s mid don’t believe the hype. Expand

But that's just because when it comes to Bethesda games, it's hard to get a negative reaction out of me. I'm having fun with it, but that doesn't necessarily mean the game is great and that I would recommend it to other people. Here are some of my problems with it:

I'm absolutely baffled by how restrictive this game is. It's touted as Bethesda's biggest game, and yet it feels like the smallest of their games. It feels more restrictive and closed in than the really old Elder Scroll games- I can't believe that I'm saying this about a 2023 Bethesda game but Morrowind is more expansive and full of life than this game is. You can't naturally fly to different planets, you can't naturally explore a city, you can't naturally LEAVE a city and explore the area outside of it, you can't naturally do anything. All you can do is fast travel. Fast travel outside, fast travel inside, fast travel to space, fast travel to a different place in space, fast travel to get to a different planet and then fast travel again to get on that planet.

Exploration is lackluster. Yes, you can explore all of those empty randomly generated planets, but you won't get much out of it. There are no unique locations to stumble across. No locations with environmental storytelling. Nothing like Bethesda games of the past. I don't feel compelled to explore in Starfield like I would in previous Bethesda games. Last night as I was walking through New Atlantis, I was hit by the overwhelming feeling of "I want to go play Skyrim or Fallout 4". I wanted to go play other Bethesda games that have life, substance. Uniqueness. Interesting and fun things to find.

I can't believe they put off Elder Scrolls 6 to make this instead.

Some critics have suggested its basically Skyrim in space.. how I wish that were true! That at least would have been fun. Unfortunately my experience of Starfield so far is loading screens, fetch and carrier missions (a lot of those!) and fast travelling (which also generates another loading screen). The intro didn't grab me, I didn't feel instantly immersed like I did with Skyrim or even fallout 4. Looking at it, it doesn't actually look that different from those games except with a spacey skin thrown on top. Ultimately it feels like a walking simulator, or maybe even no mans sky..before it became an actual game. It just feels like its a mile wide but an inch deep. The space element feels like it was added in as an afterthought, probably by the same person who designed the main menu screen. Ill persevere with it, but its failing on the main objective for any game which is to entertain so far. It feels like a job, and that's not good.

    The good:
    Feels like a Bethesda game
    Space ship designing- fun
Huge potential for the mods to actually make it a fun game

    The Bad
The story, it doesn't captivate or grab you.
No planet vehicles- a huge sophisticated civilisation.. but no moon buggy?
Generic planets- they promised 1000 but then forgot to fill them with anything remotely interesting.
Space flight- or lack of it, no takeoff, landing (loading screens for those!)
Poor tutorials- the game doesn't explain WHY you cant fast travel somewhere just that its not possible right now.

    The Ugly
Loading screens. For. Every. Single. Door.
Fast travel is almost the default movement option
Repetitive missions (fetch and carry more than UPS)
Feels like a chore rather than a fun game

In general, I enjoy the game, but I have a lot of negative feelings about it:

Exploration - it's the first Bethesda game where this aspect is lacking... Planets are simply boring. Fast travel everywhere - oh God, I wish there was a possibility to fly manually from planet to planet or from sector to sector. Graphics - I hope this is the last game where they use the current engine...

The combat is generic and underwhelming, graphically it's not exactly ground breaking but will batter your hardware like it is and it has its fair share of game breaking bugs and crashing to the desktop so you need to save often. I see many giving this 10/10 which is ridiculous given the issues it has. Amazed how Bethesda seems to get a pass for putting out poorly optimised, unfinished and bug ridden games when every other publisher, rightly, gets dragged over the coals for it. Simply not good enough considering the time it spent in development. It's an OK game but the negatives far outweigh any positives. Expand

I dont quite get the hype. To me, the game can be described as "loading screen..."; not that loading takes long - it takes less than a second ... but it is a chain of loading screen scenes (launch, be in space open map, jump, land)

There is a severe disconnect with the character: so you are a miner, boom ... now you are a chosen one. hmm .. really? I also do not quite get the hype

I also do not quite get the hype about its graphics. They are muddy and do not look good. It is not the complexity of the models, but maybe the design .. but much of it has severe last generation vibes.

On the technical side - no super wide screen support? .. for a game that prides itself on the vastness of space? Terrible, TERRIBLE UI (its a typical console UI - totally inadequate for PC)

    To sum it up:
    - mediocre graphics, especially human character models look 1 or 2 generations old
    - poorly populated "cities", its the ps2 era cities, where you never see too many people doing their days work. Even Skyrim had livelier towns. By and large .. i would compare cities to Fallout New Vegas.
    - good sound and acceptable voice acting (but not even close to Baldurs Gate 3)
    - there is NO feeling of space, you actually hardly spend time in "space". You click a point on the map and fast travel
    - there is no landing, no launching - nothing. It is all cutscenes - very disappointing. I mean .. look at ancient games like "Frontier" .. even that one had launching and landing on planets .. on a single 3.5 disk

all in all disappointing - but like every Bethesta game, it can and likely will be saved by modders

The space travel aspect in the game is merely a shallow feature that allows you to say, "Hey, you can travel in space," without much actual gameplay involved. Rather than accessing other planets through a physical menu, you access them through an interactive menu while onboard your ship.

During my early gameplay, I had a ship battle, but there haven't been any significant encounters since. However, it's possible that these mechanics become more prevalent later in the game. Overall, the game feels like Fallout 4 set in space, albeit without the VATS system. The gameplay, loot gathering, and usage of loot resemble Fallout 4, and it doesn't bring much novel to the table. Unfortunately, there are two major flaws that significantly detract from the game.

Firstly, the absence of land vehicles other than walking is incredibly frustrating. Sprinting depletes your oxygen rapidly, and traveling from point A to point B takes a frustratingly long time due to the vast expanses of empty space between them.

Secondly, unlike in Fallout, where you could spot distant landmarks and explore the areas in between, this game lacks that sense of discovery. Either the long-distance visuals don't appear until you're closer, or there genuinely isn't much of interest on each planet.

Despite boasting a staggering number of 1000 planets to explore, it fails to capture the same sense of exploration found in Fallout or Skyrim. The issue might stem from the arduousness of traveling around, especially from point A to point B.

On the positive side, the game mechanics are solid and offer a diverse range of activities. Crafting weapons, armor, ship upgrades, and mining minerals form an intricate system. However, it would have been more enjoyable if the developers had focused on improving the content of a smaller number of planets, rather than spreading themselves thin over 10000 planets.

Additionally, the game suffers from technical issues. HDR is glitchy, the lack of an FOV slider and brightness adjustment is noticeable, and the lighting is subpar for a next-gen game. The PC optimization is questionable, although it's worth noting that some players forget that DLSS is not available in this game, causing performance struggles for those with lower-end GPUs.

Overall, I would rate the game a 6/10. If they were to address some key issues by adding a land vehicle, fixing HDR, introducing an FOV slider, and implementing DLSS, the score could potentially reach a 7/10. To further improve, they should focus on creating more points of interest on fewer planets, as the current quantity feels gimmicky. With such changes, the game could potentially earn a 9/10 rating.

Cuatro balas y a volar.

In a year dominated by sequels to franchise favorites, there was a hope that Starfield would carve its own path to success. While the team at Bethesda should be commended for taking such a big swing, there’s no denying that the game doesn’t feel like a cohesive work. Maybe continued support and future sequels will make something more meaningful out of a work that is clearly deeply enamored with both science fiction and space exploration. Unforunately, this first launch has had far more mixed results than desired.
