OK! lets start this review by saying that this game isnt a sequal to battlefront 2!! people need to know this, this is only dice take on battlefront and lets be real here this game isnt perfect in any way but this game is good in its own way.The sound and graphics are beautiful and it really feels like im there on the battlefield of Hoth or tatooine when im fighting of stormtroopers.SureOK! lets start this review by saying that this game isnt a sequal to battlefront 2!! people need to know this, this is only dice take on battlefront and lets be real here this game isnt perfect in any way but this game is good in its own way.The sound and graphics are beautiful and it really feels like im there on the battlefield of Hoth or tatooine when im fighting of stormtroopers.Sure some of the textures are a bit of and then you realize your playing a game but this game is good.
Ok so here is to all haters who have played battlefront 2 by pademic studios first off THIS GAME IS NOT A SEQUAL OR RELATED TO BATTLEFRONT 2 BY ANY MEANS! and lets be real here almost all the heroes in battlefront 2 had the same ability so really it was only visuals who changed.Sure you could play as your favorite hero like darth maul, yoda and mace windu but they all had the same ability.in this game all heroes has unique abilities there is none that is the same.I dont know why everybody is giving this game so bad reviews when really its a good game.Dice has really worked hard on this game and it is really casual. They have been to the same places and the movies where shot and the sound is exactly the same as the movie.Sure you cant play as a wookie or as a droid but this game is focused on the new movie. And lets be real here the game is Really balanced there is no weapon that is clearilly overpowered and the star cards that are the better ones like the jetpack has a long timer on them so its really balanced. The only problem with the game is that people dont know how to play it.
Sure its sad that it has no solo campaign but they have really outdone themself in the multiplayer and lets be happy for ones that we have got a star wars game.It has been 10 years after the last game.

Okay...it's pretty. That's about it. The fact that this is a multiplayer game with no campaign mode takes it out of my sphere of interest. EA not everybody wants to play online with other people! Take a hint before you make your next multiplayer only game.

What happened to Star Wars: Battlefront? Where is the content?

That's a question that many people will be asking themselves after paying the premium price of 60 Euro/Dollars and having played the game for several hours. That's a question that many people will be asking themselves after paying the premium price of 60 Euro/Dollars and having played the game for several hours. I sure hope not that many have paid the insane amount of €110,-. If you have, you have my sympathies.

The only saving grace is that the game looks and sounds very pretty and that it has a Star Wars theme. When you would strip away the Star Wars jacked all that is left is a game that suffers from bladder problems due to it being exposed to the same cold I felt after paying the price of €60 for this product.

12 Maps? Sounds sufficient, but in reality it's not.

I can only speak for myself, but the main draw to this game is the Walker Assault mode. This means that you get to play 4 maps over and over again and that gets old really quickly.

The other game modes are alright I guess, but they are not really my thing. Capture the flag and the rudimentary Death Match modes are done much better by other games. The Walker Assault mode is what should have been the main focus and maybe a secondary mode similar to it in space for instance.
This game can't compete with the likes of Battlefield, Halo and Call of Duty, so I don't understand why DICE copy and pasted some of the game modes. That was a massive waste of time and money and the game suffers from it.

I can already picture how the meeting went when EA bought the IP and announced to the DICE team that they wanted a Battlefront game. A picture of Battlefield was being projected in the meeting room and a "We want that, but make it look like Star Wars" was said. Such a missed opportunity.

TLDR: Not worth €60 and certainly not €110. EA/DICE could have made something more innovative, but instead choose for the safe and simple route and ended up with a very pretty looking with great sounds but otherwise mediocre shooter. Walker Assault is fun for a short while though.

I had good fun for 12 hours playing with my friend though, and got the refund on Origin, that I could recommend, it doesn't cost anything.

Let's be clear, for £50 you can enjoy the demo, the real price of this game is £100. It is a pretty good game, but far to be as good as £100.

I REALLY love this game. Graphics, sounds, shooting, vehicle control(only with a controller) and gameplay in general is awesome. But the game lacks content. No campaign, not much solo missions and not many online modes. Everything else is just awesome. If you had fun in walker assault during beta, you should definitely buy the game.

Simply the best graphics I've seen in a game. This game is downright gorgeous. It's hands down, the most accurate Star Wars game ever produced. Every mark on the armor, every crevice on the x-Wing has been painstakingly recreated. Sounds are exactly as they are in the movies.
Only 4 maps currently (why I took off a point) but, there are enough game modes on these 4 maps to keep it

Only 4 maps currently (why I took off a point) but, there are enough game modes on these 4 maps to keep it fresh. Fighter Squadron mode could be a game just by itself!
The negative reviews are from people who decided from the beginning this game wasn't going to meet their selfish expectation of what they think the game should be. These people wanted Battlefield 4 with a Star Wars skin and when they didn't get that, they cried. Gamer's should be flexible to accept a game for what it is... and what it is, is an extremely polished Star Wars experience. It's incredible running around on Hoth or Endor experiencing those battles for yourself, which of course change with every multiplayer match. Those that claim no depth to this game, aren't willing to look for it. The types of blasters are all very different, with varying degrees of recoil, dmg models and range. the varying amount of cards you can select into the three hand combinations make for very different builds. For sure there needs to be in game voice chat and the partner/squad system sucks as it is right now. I pre-ordered my copy on sale for $45. I would easily spend the $60 non-sale price. I'm level 15 today, with many levels still to go. I'm enjoying it every step of the way and totally am succumb to the incredible Star Wars atmosphere that's been created here.

    * There are only 4 maps. Yes you read that right... FOUR. Seriously, 60$ for FOUR maps.

    * All infantry feels the same. It doesn't make much of a difference to select different card customizations.

    * Most of the guns feel pretty much the same. Why make a blaster pistol that fires like an automatic machine gun?

    * The aiming mechanic is terrible. It is a giant circle and the blaster bolts can hit anywhere within it. If you are hoping for some sort of skill in your shot than too bad. It feels pretty much randomized. There isn't any recoil so its point, click, spray, and pray.

    * Most of the game modes are for close quarters, small team combat which this game really sucks at. They are traditional FPS modes like team death match and capture the flag, but because the terrible aiming and nonexistent character classes it's just boring.

    * Star fighter game controls are terrible, especially if you use a mouse. They feel very sluggish and delayed. There is no way to roll. The game will force you to orient so that the ground is below you.

I could go on but I'm getting tired of writing this now. For someone who pre ordered this game and could not get a refund I'm very disappointed.

The graphics are great. I play on high settings with a gtx 570 which is below the minimum graphics. I cant imagine what it looks like on ultra settings, but soon I will when I get a R9 390X. The sounds in this game are fantastic. That being said, I wish there were more maps and weapons on original release. I only paid $35 for this game on CJS keys. I buy all my PC games from there and other similar sites. If I paid $60 for a game I didn't like I would be upset like most people, but if you bought it from EA then they will refund you which is fantastic.
I am 35 and a casual PC and XBOX One gamer so I can only play about 7-8 hours a week. I just want to play a fun game that looks and sounds great with no bugs. This game gets most of that right.

-Sugar coated visuals to make it look good.
-Riding hard on the nostalgia train to get players.(but using the same audio files was a good decision though)

-Hero, squad and just overall bad gameplay mechanics.

I have played early access titles that feel more finished than this game. It is as though EA/DICE are pursuing the early access route without letting the public know that its an early access title. There are blatant quality problems, for example, the sun shining on and reflecting off of surfaces inside of buildings. I don't want to list the rest.

I was disappointed to say the least. For a Star Wars title, for its time, it is not good. If DICE had just re-skinned Battlefield and called it Star Wars, it would play better than this. This feels like a from-scratch game. Or a port.

This is an amazing Star Wars, game; but an objectively terrible game. It has all these details, tiny and small that a star wars fan like myself will absolutely gush over: The fade wipe from the movies greats you on re-spawn, the sounds and insane visual fidelity make it feel like you're in one of the classic original trilogies yourself. When they make star wars episode 8 they should tell JJ Abrams to make it inside this game.

But all that insane attention to detail and gorgeous visuals means your senses are constantly assaulted and distracted. Agency is taken away from the player at every turn. This is, in some parts, on purpose. You're meant to move forward en masse using metal storm tactics to crush your opposition. The individual soldier is worthless mostly. This makes sense, from the perspectives of the movies and that a galactic sized military would be more than willing to throw Vader-fist-fulls of soldiers into the grinder. It's awesome. However it's also terrible as gameplay design.

You can only really move forward, your side-to-side and backwards mobility is terrible, so when you find yourself outgunned turning around a corner, you're already dead. It's intended to force you to stay with team mates. But when every player immediately equips the jetpack asap to further muddle the already blurred line of combat, you find yourself constantly surrounded with no way of keeping aware of what's going on around you.

Punishing players for separating from the group is fine in a multiplayer, but only if you are also rewarded for staying with the team. The game does nothing to this effect. Being near teammates means that you're constantly confused by laser fire that's the same color as the enemies. Meaning that when some moron on your team behind you shoots you in the butt for no reason, you have to turn to see if you're really being fired upon, meaning the second you turn around you get shot from the front where you should have been looking.

Not that keeping your eyes forward does ANYTHING to help your survival chances. I haven't seen this many grenades in a shooter since the early halo days. And with the ridiculous alignment toward graphical fidelity over useful visual cues it's impossible to be fully aware of what's going on even 10 feet in front of you. Shadows and bright light effects mean you're blinded while leaving or entering any building, and with all the explosions and dust effects you'll NEVER see the enemy in time to fire. Sure, kills happen, but never on purpose it feels. Not to mention when you're aiming down the sights of your pulse rifle card to snipe someone, some idiot on your team throws a grenade in your face putting your vision in a blender of brilliant, beautiful effects, but the second you might regain your sight, you're dead again.

The slow projectile speeds, while matching the movies, makes you an ineffectual marksman at best. And when you can barely perceive the enemy through graphical clutter and detail as it is, it doesn't help that---dammit a jetpack guy got me again!!!!

Do not play if you like shooters. Play if you love star wars, just don't expect to have a very rewarding experience from the gameplay.

This it how not to make a game in 2015 its shallow brainless design is a insult to most gamer`s you really have to have the simplest of minds to not get totally bored after a few hours.
Any half wit developer could have made this kind of a shooter from Dice we expected them to really take to the next level they didn`t yet again EA and Dice miss the mark but this is probably there worst

I feel sorry for the people who worked on the graphics and sound which was fantastic but its just polish on a turd in the end.

A perfect game for short sessions. It’s not deep enough to convince online shooters veterans, but it will definitely win over Star Wars fans. [01/2016, p.34]

Star Wars Battlefront looks and sounds great, and with Battlefield-class gameplay could have ruled the multiplayer galaxy. Unfortunately, at best OK-level, Battlefront-class gameplay is much too shallow to last long. And this is THE one license, which really needs a single player campaign. [Dec 2015]

Any semblance of subtlety is abandoned entirely when it comes to the playable Hero and Villain characters. [Jan 2016, p.110]
