They have several different versions of a capture and hold type game mode that I can barely tell apart. It's cool that you can randomly find a hero hologram and be Luke or Vader in the game... Except it happens ALL THE TIME and it just isn't cool anymore! I imagine Luke Skywalker had better things to do than to be showing up (and dying) in every minor battle happening across the galaxy. I think those Heroes showing up should be very rare. I like the idea of being a rebel grunt. I don't need to be Han Solo every five seconds. The flying also lacks imagination. They chose to use a 3rd person view instead of throwing you inside the cockpit of an X-Wing which sucks. Oh you can choose to fly from the cockpit but you will die immediately. 3rd person flying gives you a definite advantage. Some of the maps are also rather small and I keep running into this Call of Duty effect where I spawn, run ten feet, fire on the enemy in front of me, and then get shot in the back.

I feel like EA has produced a beautiful game with great in-game sound and a nice usage of original Star Wars music that enhances gameplay. I think they haven't thought about or asked enough people like me how they can get people addicted. I think the answer is simple. Immerse the gamer in the Star Wars world. Right now it's just another first person shooter that happens to have lasers instead of bullets. Instead of the tired old capture and hold have the rebels objective be a two or three part plan.

What if the mission was to take over enemy communication posts and/or a hangar on a planet so you could attack an alternate dark side spawn point (an orbiting Imperial Battleship) unannounced, and in their imperial cargo ship? Land the ship and take your whole team in to try and attach explosives to the main power station causing the whole thing to blow to smithereens. This would be a great time to have some help from a Hero. At the climax of the match. If you only took the planet based hanger your trip to the battleship will be expected and the final battle inside the hangar bay of a battleship would be so intense. If you don't know Titan mode from Battlefield 2142, look it up. It's similar to this idea and ******* addicting.

What if the Imperial Storm Troopers were tasked with storming a Rebel outpost? I'm talking Santa Anna's army storming the Alamo. Some 300 type action. The deck stacked against the Rebel's but even if you lose the match your kill count is going to be outrageous!

I like these ideas because they are mine. You can hate them and that's fine. All I am saying is to use some damn imagination. The movies and books in the Star Wars line are oozing with creativity and currently this game has very little.

I can't imagine I am going to be the first person to contact EA about this. I will send them this review and I hope their reaction isn't to ignore it. The worst part about this is that I spent $59 on the game and I have trouble finding full matches to join. It's sad.

    Dear EA,
Ever since I heard about this game I have been excited, it was time for another Star Wars Battlefront game. Unfortunately that never happened. Dear EA,
Ever since I heard about this game I have been excited, it was time for another Star Wars Battlefront game. Unfortunately that never happened. StarWars Battlefront be Ea is by no means an awful game, it simply boils down to the lack of content, a pathetic minimum of what it could be. The bottom-line is that EA has to change. No more DLC bull crap.

Firstly the maps that they do offer are terribly small, and cluttered. One map rises above the rest, the Jawa Retreat not only is it boring there's crap everywhere simply put there for aesthetic purposes. Another terrible one is Endor. Half the time I can just barely see what I'm doing, and the other half I get killed by another player because the radar only shows a vague general direction of where the enemies are. However since most maps are small, EA put in lots of detail like frost crystals in snow caves and the sort. The only map that bears some resembles to familiar territory is The Battle of Jakku, which of course is DLC. Its large an open with many nooks and crannies to hind in and the wreckage of the Empires fleet tells a story in itself.

Secondly there's 11 primary guns in the game. Only 11 which is pretty pathetic. However you could argue that Star wars Battlefront 2 only had like 8 or so for each Faction but, that amounted to 4x8= 32. 32 separate lookouts. In EA's version there is 11 guns which require a rank to unlock, and credits to buy. EA also implemented "STARCARDS" which are basically secondary abilities/weapons like grenades, pistols, anti vehicle weaponry that cant be used on infantry so mid battle your basically a sitting duck, more guns like a bow casters and long distance weaponry that is extremely cumbersome to use, weapon modifiers like faster cool down and charged shots that does more damage, and of course the jetpack. If I was making the game, and only had 11 weapons I would do the obvious and allow customizations, it still would not make up for the lack of weaponry, but it would at least be something. It would also fit the theme of Star Wars quite well. But alas what idiots EA are they gave us 11 guns like pocket change given to the homeless.

Thirdly the "power up" system. There are many problems with it, firstly I'm all for the idea of the power up system. EA's Star wars Battlefront favors high rank players which can kill others in like 3 shots a rank up massive scores and allowing them to become Jedi would be unfair. However it is poorly executed, and rushed beyond believe. There is actually 1 power up that can prevent you from obtaining more. Its called card refresh and is for player that have more than three Cards to equip, but if your just starting out your basically screwed because there is no option to let the ability expire and you can not use it if you don't have 3 starcards. Another grippe is the piloting feature, flying is floaty and unresponsive and takes time to adjust to its slow controls.

Finally game mechanics are quite terrible. First and foremost its Battlefront not a field. And more players we should be expecting 128+ players a game, but some of the 10~12 game modes only have 8 players per team! My God what is this, a free app game? Following that there is only 10~12 game modes, granted that most people will just play blast (team death match) supremacy (capture the flag/secure all the checkpoints) and turning point which came with the DLC, but at least acknowledge the wide and diverse modes players can enjoy. Also after playing the game yes there is very few maps/ planets, and no Space Battles, a sore and bitter disappointment. And as most know basically no single player or Campaign.

All in all what it boils down to is lack of content. EA already has a Season pass DLC which add like another half of the game for 50 dollars. EA if your reading this I highly, highly recommend that you change your ways and make it free. Otherwise no one will buy Star Wars battlefront, because of the critical issues I have mentioned here. I you make the DLC free, modify some smaller maps, add more game modes, a single player campaign, more heroes and guns, and generally make it more like Star Wars Battlefront and less Battlefieldy, then you will see the impressive sales you'd expect for a Star Wars game. Otherwise this game is nothing more than a hollow shell of what could have been a great successor to the original games.

So in conclusion I stand by my 3 Stars, and the only way this game will sell is if players and the global community of people who bought this came boycott the $50 dollar DLC and show that EA does not have the right to release such a disappointing game that literally stains Star Wars. So, boycott the DLC don't buy it, ever just don't do it if enough people don't buy it then we might see some changes. **** EA and **** there DLC and greed money swallowing Season Pass DLC

Third of all, and I think if you're a gamer then you probably know this by now, there is so little content in this game it should be considered the demo of a demo. 4 maps, 11 weapons...and that's about it. There is nothing to this game, just another pretty looking video game with no value whatsoever. I've been a fan of this series since the beginning, so I cannot consider this sad excuse of a video game to be part of this amazing series. Another very annoying and disappointing aspect is that it's extremely bad value for a game. You pay 60 Euro's for 4 different locations, no single-player campaign and a repetitive multiplayer experience. EA also expects everybody to invest another 50 Euro's in the Season Pass, which funnily enough appears to offer just as little content as the base game. This is pure money-grabbing.

I'm not saying that Battlefront isn't fun. The game is however, the best example for quality over quantity I've ever seen. Unfortunately, the spectacular visuals don't make up for its unjustified price-tag as well as lack of content.

    3) Quality Quality Quality. Graphics, Sound, Design, everything is top Notch A++++ very engaging, and true/authentic to the movies

    4) No Single Player. I couldn't disagree more with this point, the point of a "campaign" is to tell a story, but here's the thing, the original SW trilogy has already been told. So instead, we get iconic recreated single player scenes a.k.a "Missions" that perfectly allow you to replay these scenes. The speeder race level is as good as any campaign mission. I find them to be infinitely more entertaining than a contrived campaign.

And finally it's a "dice" game. If you like battlefield, you'll like battlefront. And of course the opposite is true. This game is without a doubt , the most disappointing game of 2015 , not to mention that fans of the series waited 10 years for a sequel.

This is a shell of a game with no real depth , innovation or even enough content to be sold as a $60 game.
It is clear that the investors and producers put all their effort and money on the graphics , creating some of the best looking environments we've ever in a video game.
Problem is , that their forgot to work on the gameplay. As a DICE fan and a huge fan of the Battlefront series I must confess that this is their worst game yet.
Don't expect to get a Battlefield-like experience out of this , even I - being a huge STAR WARS nerd , often find myself getting frustrated when playing this game. It is mindless , repetitive , offers no variety or strategic gameplay.

The Singleplayer mode is a joke , badly designed with no replay value or enough content to keep you entertained. The Multiplayer is also very restricted when it comes to options , you can't even host or join other user-created servers , there's no VOIP in a 2015 game and only a couple of Game Modes are actually worth it.

This game should have had space to ground battles , clone wars , capital ships flying over your head , a dozen of planets (the game only offers 4) , intense vehicle combat (there is only 1 ground vehicle in the game).
It's like while they were developing this game , EA and DICE did a lot of coke and decided it was a good marketing idea to sell graphics with the 'Star Wars' Title and threw away everything that made Battlefield so awesome.

So , in conclusion , I give this game a 4/10 , as a Star Wars fan I could have given it an 8 but this is a freaking video game so if it doesn't pay well , it doesn't matter if you render the rocks perfectly.
Dear EA , in a day were people play Minecraft (the worst looking game) , you decided to spent all your budget on recreating rocks to a photorealistic level instead of just adding a few more maps and a proper campaign mode. Well done!

Thank you for reading , don't buy the game unless you're a huge star wars fan and don't know much about game design because if you do , you'll only get frustrated.

Customisation is, well, where to start? If unlocking haircuts and beards is your 'Star Wars authentic' thing for your helmetless Stormtrooper, then roll right up. This game will cater for your every need. Whilst doing that, don't forget to load up with the FOTM DL-44 blaster,a pulse cannon sniper rifle and a jump pack for hours of endless COD Advanced Warfare goodness.

Spawning is horrendous in this game - I've lost count of the number of times I've spawned right in front of an AT-ST or AT-AT or yards from an enemy player . Spawn, BOOM, get down. At least sometimes you get a break from that by having to run from 200 yards back to rejoin the battle.

THE extra cost of the DLC is quite frankly disgraceful given what's in the base game. The new free Battle of Jakku DLC map is as forgettable as the rest of them after a couple of hours play. It's just more of the same, with a ridiculous grenade spamming pistol shooting toe to toe royal rumble at the end for the last control point.

This game has been touted as the best Star Wars game ever. I disagree. It's without doubt the best looking one, but that's about it. My advice is go find something else to play for the meantime, be an informed consumer , read the reviews, watch the video reviews too , and if you must buy it, wait a bit for the price to come down considerably. Good games don't get this much negative publicity without good reason, so you have to ask yourself why? Put the inner need to satisfy the Star Wars fan in you to one side for a moment, and let your head rule your heart before getting your money out.

I would like to start off by saying I have put 16 hours into this game. While that may not be as much as most people I feel it is enough to give an accurate review of this game. While that may not be as much as most people I feel it is enough to give an accurate review of this game. Alright, so you load up the game, you go into your first multiplayer match so excited to finally be playing Battlefront. You load in, start running towards the objective and what happens? A few things can happen here: you get spawn killed by a dude in an AT-AT who has been in it since the start of the game, a person running around spamming the most OP pistol in the game killing you in two hits, or a maxed out guy jet packing around nade spamming the hell out of everyone at the objective. This is just to name a few. I am very pissed off with the result of this game. They put art, audio, and animations over anything else in the game. As someone who has been waiting for a Battlefront 3 since I was just a small boy this has not met my expectations. Below is a list of pros and cons:

    Pros:
Fantastic graphics and scenery in the maps
    Great audio sound effects
    Epic battles

    Cons:
    No single player/instant action
    No space battles
    One-sided maps
    Lack of maps
    OP guns and equipment
    Terrible spawns

There were a few more things I can put but I felt it would be too specific. Angry rant now down, I honestly feel let down. I wanted the next battlefront game to have the stuff the old ones do and more. I didn't want a downgrade of game play to enhance the visuals or audio. Honestly, it felt like they pushed this game out way to early to be released close with the movie to generate a bigger profit. If they took their time developing this game instead of spending the couple of years that they did. I also feel like it couldn't have gone to a worse company (EA). I know DICE developed the game but EA is stamped all over the mother **** title page and pictures. I just really hope they fix the obvious issues with the game instead of fingering their **** while counting their money.

Amazing graphics and sound. I really wish every game could look and sound as great as Battlefront. Unfortunately, those two things are the only positive attributes this game has. The gameplay is shallow and boring. Within a couple of hours, I had seen everything the game had to offer and had grown incredibly bored. Thank God I was able to get a refund on Origin. This game is nothing short of a complete letdown. This franchise already has 2 previous games to build upon and it learned NOTHING from their successes or failures. People were scared it would be Battlefield with a Star Wars skin and, to be honest, if it had been it would be a much better game.

The progression system is awful. The gunplay is garbage. Get shot at long range by pistols.

The gunplay is garbage. Get shot at long range by pistols. Extremely inaccurate sniper style weapons?
The vehicles... hooo boy.... Rebels have NO GROUND VEHICLES.
The spawn system will frequently spawn you into an area already taken over by the opposing team OR so far back it's going to take you 45 seconds to a minute just to get back to the action.
There is 0 diversity in kit loadouts. The star cards are garbage and half of them you need to REBUY after the charges deplete. That's right, not find ammo in game but REBUY from the unlocks.
I didn't preorder this game but rather got sucked into the hype machine by friends who did and I wish I hadn't

It's quite clear by the 50.00 season pass and the fact that they're already working on a sequel (WTF!?) that this game is going to be doled out piecemeal along side the next 3 films and EA plans to make bank on gullible Star Wards fans.

Graphics and Audio 10/10 though. Only positive thing I can say.

    MONEY WARS¡¡¡¡
    DECEPTION OF THE YEAR :(

I love star wars but these kind games(empty games) and the way it had been comercialized make battlefront and lost opportunity ... DICE makes a great job with the graphic.

My friends and i had to wait for battlefield V (please EA get out your hand of it)

This is a perfect game if you have an hour to spare waiting for the wife to get ready to go out. Power on, run around with a lazer blaster, accomplish nothing, and turn off.

The main thing this game falls short in for me compared to previous battlefronts is the lack of solo/co-op play, back in the day you could play with a few mates against the ai on all game modes with ai on your side too for a truly epic scale fight, the solo/co-op in this is really small, pretty much just team death match
as everyone has said graphics and sound are great and runs pretty

as for the multiplayer, levels are very unbalanced for the walker assault, dont even try winning on endor if you're playing as the empire
the guns are somewhat poorly done, there's a gun that you'll unlock at level 3 but at level 5 you can get a gun that is a direct upgrade to it which is pretty pointless, i think there's a few more there as well
if you're ever caught wondering what gun the guy at the top of the leader board is using it's han solo's blaster with it's 2 shot kill
there's also the lack of content (4 maps and a bunch of gamemodes 2 of which people will only play, walker assault and deathmatch were the only ones i could get a game for)for it's hefty $90 AUD pricetag for the standard edition and the $60 season pass if you want the future content, likely 1 new map per dlc
for those who want to return this game you can in the first 30 days if you bought through origin
    Pros:
    graphics
    sound
    Netcode

    Cons:
    lack of solo/co-op
    price
    unbalanced maps
    unbalanced weapons
Disappointing customization (omg wow i can change to an old guy or an alien golly gee)

Hopefully dice/ea will take a look at the reveiws and sort it out, hell i'd re-buy it if they let me vs ai only on all the multiplayer game modes

This game is fun at first, moreover if you love Star Wars universe... But it becomes awfully boring after few hours of running and dying. Massive battlefields, loads of teammates, 0 coordination. No easy of communicating with your team. It's a FFA-Team-Deathmatch. X-Wing/Tie Fighters fights are boring as hell.

A perfect game for short sessions. It’s not deep enough to convince online shooters veterans, but it will definitely win over Star Wars fans. [01/2016, p.34]

Star Wars Battlefront looks and sounds great, and with Battlefield-class gameplay could have ruled the multiplayer galaxy. Unfortunately, at best OK-level, Battlefront-class gameplay is much too shallow to last long. And this is THE one license, which really needs a single player campaign. [Dec 2015]

Any semblance of subtlety is abandoned entirely when it comes to the playable Hero and Villain characters. [Jan 2016, p.110]
