I wouldn't feel good about Battlefront II's progression system even if there were no way to buy loot boxes with real money. It'd still be a drag. And the fact that we're talking about a full-priced, big-publisher, triple-A game here makes the whole situation even less forgivable.

While the single player barely tells a coherent story, the action manages to delight and where the multiplayer takes acclimation it eventually delivers further excitement. But it’s also a testament to some of the most insidious and predatory design decisions of recent years, crushing the excitement under a mountain of poor decisions. Battlefront II had the easiest job in the world: deliver a multiplayer Star Wars game and improve upon a hyped predecessor that under-delivered. Unfortunately, the game delivered at launch—perpetually couched with the fact that EA could change its economy and patch its systems and fix so many of these problems—manages to f.ck that up.
  3. For those first few hours, Battlefront 2 struck me with gorgeous moment after gorgeous moment that’s made me reevaluate what’s possible with 2017’s technology. It’s a shame that the fighting frequently gets bogged down by chokepoints, and any long-term appeal is undermined by a progression system that can’t shake the pay to win shadow which continues to loom over the game. Once you’re done with the five-hour campaign, the horrid state of the multiplayer will take centre stage. After a while, DICE’s attention to detail and stunning graphics will grow old, and you’ll be left doubting every encounter, every death. DICE’s biggest crime with Star Wars: Battlefront 2 isn’t that it added microtransactions, it’s that it forgot to make a game worth playing in the process.

    I'd rather buy Winrar. Seriously! #dontbuythisgame #donttrustEA

So many talented studios swallowed, chewed and spitted out by that vile scum named EA. And what makes me sad and furious most is that they attempt to corrupt and mutilate the very essence of gaming. Games as we know from the chess to battlefront means the challenge of skills and rules apply to all equally. EA wants to change that solid foundation, the definition of gaming. For whom? For whom has the money more. If gamers don't resist that wicked company the gaming itself as we know will die and become corrupted beyond our imagination.
