First thing I'm going to say about this game is that if you don't like Southpark, you are probably not going to like this game. It's going to feel like a run of the mill RPG. If you do like Southpark then this game is a friggin GEM! I don't want to spoil a single thing so all I can say really is that this game IS Southpark.

One of the best RPG's I've ever played! The game completely captures every aspect of the show (animations/graphics/design, characters and story, jokes/humor, etc), and fully immerses you in the world they've WONDERFULLY re-created.

    Combat:
Combat is excellent, where you (and your partner) and your enemy take turns in striking, biting, and shooting each other. There are some other features which you use in combat, such as Power Points or "PP", which allows you to use special moves that vary according to which class you choose (I will go into more detail about classes later on the review), theirs potions that have different effects and power ups, which can help you in battle.

    Story:
The story, which is probably the most important thing in a game, especially when it comes to a T.V. Show licensed game, is perfect! Totally immerses you into the game and it's characters; where you have multiple options, each of which can change the outcome of your current situation. You can either charge in head-on, or you can take the stealthy route and sneak by, or you can use the environment around you to make upcoming combat/traps a bit easier to succeed in. The ending: VERY satisfying and funny.

    World/Environment:
They perfectly capture the essence of South Park, with interactive characters and a beautifully redesigned world, parts which are destructible, and in most cases, hilarious. They even have a little 16-bit re-creation of Canada, which is almost as interactive as South Park itself! With all this, it really makes you feel like your living in your favorite T.V. Show's universe.

Don't really need to say much more that except, they really couldn't of done it much better. It gave South Park fans the game they deserved! With over 15 hours of gameplay (including side quests) which is average for an open-world RPG, I PROUDLY give this game a 10/10.

This game was very enjoyable. This game is relatively short but there are 4 classes to choose from and you can side with Kyle or Cartman. I finished this game with about 700 dollars on my character and the best weapons. I bought the best weapon in the game very early on for only 20 dollars and since I was a looter I got all the items I needed. There was no struggle except for a few times where there is no available armor of your level or I forget to get new gear. This game is easy, fun, and humorous. If this game had DLC it would extend the experience. Expand

I bought this game late (early 2015), mostly because at first I could not justify spending $60 for a game like this. But that will remain as one of my biggest gaming regrets ever. You explore southpark completing quests to move forward along the story line aswell as do some side quests to obtain new equipment and abilities. The story line is every bit as adventurous and action packed as it is amusing, and hilarious. It's every bit as obnoxious, hilarious, and raunchy as the TV show. The characters you interact with are insanely loveable and I really felt like I was the new kid going on some adventure with the southpark kids. Matt and Trey really put a lot of time into developing the characters for the game as they include all of their "trademarks" and they occasionally will bring up past experiences from the episodes. Every little bit of the southpark town has been recreated to give you a quality RPG game, but its like its one long South Park episode. The dialogue and character interactions are second to none and you know the South Park creators really put a lot of time into detail and quality with their game. Overall, its the most fun I've gotten from a video game in years while having me laugh and chuckle every step of the way of the great adventure they've put you in. I would've easily spent $60 on this . Expand

South Park: The Stick of Truth is one of the funniest and most entertaining games I've ever played, based on The Lord of The Rings role playing episodes from the show it's humor is dark and raw, just as the series is and it never disappoints.
On the other side, the gameplay is superb, being a turn-based combat it's dynamic and stays on the line of what the game is.

The RPG turn based gameplay is super fun and easy to pick up without being an RPG vetran. The game looks and feels just like playing an episode of south park with all the characters acting and sounding just as they do in the show. The crude, dark, surreal and out right silly humor is ever present though out and nothing ever feels OC about the game. The plot is ridiculous but in a good way, its classic south park right until the end.

I highly recommend this game to fans and even to people who have never watched the show (although you'll be missing out on a lot running jokes)

10/10 a must have game for fans of silly ridiculous humor!

Better gameplay than a recently released and good JRPG (Child of Light) and really reminded me of some old Final Fantasy fun.

As a game it stands as a solid but very casual RPG. Instead of stripping all semblance of RPG out like modern games have done, Stick of Truth instead opts to simplify them and make them approachable. It is clear that Stick of Truth is no Baldur's Gate, but it never tries to be, sticking more closely to a the spirit of the kids' game: make believe kingdoms of humans and elves.

Definitely a must for South Park fans, and certainly not a bad game for weekend dungeon heroes who enjoy casual RPG experiences.

But it is a very fun game and even after beating it, I want to play again with a different class. There are four class options: Fighter, Thief, Mage, and Jew. The Jew class that I chose tends to benefit from being at low health. Their abilities grow much stronger as they get lower and lower in hit points.

The other characters you get to bring with you are very fun as well. Butters, Stan, Kyle, Princess Kenny (or Kyeennny if you incorrectly talk like Cartman), Cartman, and Jimmy can be on your team (just one of them at a time) to help you. There are certain points in the game where you must choose a certain buddy to perform a command to get past obstacles.

The game's flaws are few, but they are common flaws for PC versions of console games. The controls are poor at times. Some points in the game would have normally used an analog stick for your controller, but you are forced to use the A and D keys in a poor attempt at emulating the analog controller. Thus, some points in the game can be a bit frustrating as a PC user.

Another issue is that, during cutscenes, if you have ALT-TABBED during your most recent session of this game, your character will blink in and out from the scene. You have to close the game and open it again to fix this.

But despite those PC-only bugs, it is still a very enjoyable game. It is more fun if you enjoy South Park as a show, but even if you're not the biggest fan, the game is still good on its own. It's not a typical licensed product, which usually consists of a ripoff of a better game with sounds from the TV show (Simpsons Hit n run).

The game plays out exactly like an episode, with crisp beautiful (South Park beautiful, but still) graphics and smooth animations. The voice acting is on par with the show, and all characters are voiced by their onscreen counterparts. The game play is what you would expect from a South Park RPG, turn based, and comical. The fights seem balanced, and the encounters are well spaced out.
The only down side to game is the fact it leaves fans begging for more. With a triple A price tag of 60 dollars, one would expect a bit more meat on the bones of this title. There is also the fact that the DLC that is promised is an Xbox exclusive leaves a bad taste in the mouth of PC fans. I guess if the big complaint is they leave you wanting more, it says that they did something right though.

That being said, the side quests and collectables do give it a replay value. I for one will be playing again, this time as the arch-type of ":Jew: instead of the standard mage, this time playing with more of a completest attitude.

Perfect in almost every way, if you are a South Park fan. If not you won't understand the story at all. I would of given it a 10 but it needs to be harder. Even on the hardest setting it is still to easy, don't get me wrong it isn't kid friendly easy I just want a little bit more of a challenge. Great combat system, great story, great graphics.

The presentation is the best possible apart from some stutters and the story is one of the best for the series. It really matches the show's character, the video game character and it makes you feel like a kid playing rpg's in your neighbourhood.

I think I would like to have the whole party in all of my battles and I would like probably bigger battles, but from a non-RPG gamer, like me, this is the first turn based RPG that I actually enjoyed. The first time I really enjoyed browsing through the menus and my powers and weapon stap-ons!

Great game. They nailed it what they were aiming for and full of the crazy ideas from the masterminds behind South Park. Funniest game ever.

This IS just like any South Park episode. Even better, feels like you are actually playing a whole season.
1001 reference, the poo/fart jokes and the clever ones. Every significant South Park character is in there,
all the original voices, Cartman, Cartman, Cartman and Douchebag.

To top it all, we are not getting a **** FPS like on N64 but a great RPG instead. Which means they can actually make the 2D effect just like the episodes.

on the cons side, 12-15 hours for a full 60$ digital price is a bit high. I guess you can bank up to 30 hours on a 2nd play a year later. (Even if the game is amazing, I really don't feel like redoing all again, since there is no new game+, I just doesn't feel the need for a 2nd play right away.)

The highest difficulty is recommended for any regular gamer or anyone that ever touched a RPG. After 3-4 hours, you'll rarely feel like you are in danger.

But considering the game is in fact, a very well made game that any South Park fan is gonna love, I'm ready to put sand on the Balance (Hours vs $).

Great job Ubisoft. Thanks for not releasing it before it was ready.
Great job Obsidian Entertainment. You should be proud.

Honestly, there really aren't too many issues to be found with this game, aside from maybe if you don't enjoy the sense of humor it employs, or haven't really paid too much attention to the show- which could mean you miss quite a few references. There are a few technical hiccups on consoles, but curiously many of them are absent on computers- so that would be the route I'd go, given the opportunity and for want of a better game experience. Skins may sometimes glitch out of existence, entire inventory objects may sometimes disappear, and entering areas could cause framerate drops- but never anything truly permanent came to pass. This was, note, all on the Xbox systems that I noticed issues, not the play Station ones or PC. All in all, the experience is grand, enjoyable, and the objectives are faithful and unique to say the least.

Concept: Make a good South Park game, and succeed, for the first time in nearly twenty years it seems. This is truly a milestone.

Graphics: Well, it really looks like a South Park episode, so that's quite an accomplishment as well (as emulating style and design goes).

Sound: I'm glad they were able to get the voice work of series pros (Stone/Parker), as anything other that that would be noticeably fake I would think. As far as music itself goes, as with the show there isn't much, but it does work well in the particular moments of drama and need.

Playability: It's a really unique and well pieced together game full of traditional and not so conventional RPG elements that mesh together pretty well for the most part. All in all, a fun adventure and entirely playable experience.

Entertainment: Very funny, and therefore very entertaining- from both a game and humor perspective.

    Replay Value: Moderately High.

    Overall Score: 9.0

Very entertaining if you're a fan of the show. It's set up to look just like the show, so much so that sometimes you'll forget it's a game and not a long episode. The gameplay is surprisingly addictive, and deeper than you would expect. You'll likely spend a lot of time finishing side quests just to make sure you get all the little references and jokes.

A long time ago, there was a South Park game...well to be accurate, there were many South Park games, and they all were lackluster...as to say, that they sucked royally. None of them had the gravitas and depth that The Stick of Truth is inundated with. If you're a fan of the show consider this journey into Colorado the best experience besides seeing Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.

None of them had the gravitas and depth that The Stick of Truth is inundated with. If you're a fan of the show consider this journey into Colorado the best experience besides seeing Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.

The game is riddled with fanservice, from pictures of the kids doing their "shaka bro", to the costumes of "villains" like Professor Chaos. The little gems that they are, its clear to see why the game took so long to come out. Damn near everything in the game is made for a South Park viewer. You aren't just some kid exploring the "lands of South Park", you're a living, breathing entity that the kids will consider their friend. It's as much your world as it is theirs, and its felt.

The combat is reminiscent of Mario RPG, in which timed attacks and defense are part of the turn based action. However another added element is the ability to see the group your about to fight and either Stun them or hit them for the preemptive attack. That alone offers more flexibility than most current RPG's out, and makes combat actually fun to get into. The "special" attacks are exactly what you expect them to be, from the roshambo to the grand slam, the dark humor translates perfectly into the game, and none of it gets boring in the slightest.

This is the south park game we've all been waiting for, South Park fans or not. This game will keep you entertained and wanting more. The game is a clear example of what a dedicated team of developers and designers can give birth to. From the itemization to the varied customization, many developers of RPG's should take notice, this is how you make an RPG.

The quests add a nice touch to the pacing, as sidequests are placed perfectly, and don't interfere with your original goal. In fact, I was always expecting some random encounter with a familiar face wherever I went, and I wasn't disappointed. Even if you don't get a certain joke, with the accessibility of the episodes on the net, there is no excuse to be part of the humor.

My only gripe with the game is the length, and the lack of a new game + which I figured was going to be the problem to begin with, however if the DLC is anything like the main game, you can expect many hours of perusing through the South Park universe. Matt and Trey found their calling, Stick to RPG's and the fans will love you for it.

Stick of Truth takes some of the best ideas of its genre such as the time hits and single partner battle system of the "Paper Mario" series, status effects that matter and should be used to get an edge of the enemy but also ideas I don't see often, such as puzzles made to thin out the enemy before you fight them.

Even if this wasn't a South Park game, any RPG fan would recommend this game base on its gameplay alone, but because it's a South Park game I can assure you that the typical humor is still here. Not just reference to the show (even those references are sometimes refreshed with a twist on them), but the game pokes fun of RPGs and games in general, while still fitting in shock and toilet humor that would probably leave you unconformable if it wasn't so brilliantly pulled off.

Some of the best humor however is when it mixes itself so well into the gameplay. Some of it is seeing how the kids imagination translate to their special moves and how these kids can defeat their foes despite just being kids, but also some of the cut scenes. There are some particular scenes that make fun of skipping cut scenes such as encouraging you to skip some scenes where a character to babbling or stopping you from skipping a scene in which even all the characters don't want to hear some contrived backstory. These are especially funny because they involve the player into the jokes.

If you're a gamer, play this game. Its a must own.

The combat engine works really well, you will have a range weapon, a melee weapon, some magics and habilities and some cunsumable items, a real complete combat for an RPG game.

The Graphics is 2D based, but they are beautiful and pretty similar of the original cartoon, witch gives you a nice sensation of immersion in the game.

The History is genial, so creative, the jokes sometimes is awkward and sometimes is pretty funny, so the game have a nice balance betwen the RPG history and the jokes of the original cartoon. It has a initiation, a middle and an end, also it has an objective, the chase of the Sitck of Truth.

The costumization of the game is one of the strongest points in South Park, you have a lot of possibilities, many classes, weapons, armors, a complete costumization for a good RPG game.

    - Weak points:

But the game can't just follow correctly the cartoon, the game have some weak points, if you go in some parts of the map you litearly can't get out of there, you need to die for some enemies to spawn in a diferent place, witch is really awkward.

You get confused in the missions, the game isn't organized at all, you have the main missions mixed with the sidemissions, and sometimes when you need to see the map for know where the missions is you get really confused.

VEREDICT: South Park The Stick of Truth is a great RPG Game, is a great reproduction of the original cartoon, it mixes perfectly the RPG story and the poop jokes of South Park. The level desing and the graphics is so well made that sometimes you don't know if you're playing South Park or watching South Park, the immersion is great. But as nothing is perfect, the game game some confusing aspects and some confusing places in the map. A perfect 9 game!

Worth it. Story is long. Good number of side missions. One good thing is that in combat you dont have to wait for your turn to end, you can do blocking and counter attack. It is a nice touch. The game has weapons and also weapons like **** Jokes are really funny. Buy it. some specific stages will astonish you

Nadam se da će u skorijoj budućnosti izaći kakav DLC ili možda i nastavak igre.

You can enjoy the "show" while building up your character. I would give it full 10, but it has occasional bugs (mostly visual and rarely) and map system could be better, but it's still fine. What stands this game apart from most other licensed games (Arkham games included) is the writing. Every line of dialogue every plot device feels like something that would happen in the show; not some contrivance to artificially expand the games length.
There are negatives; the combat is a bit shallow, the classes don't feel different enough and the loot is repetitive; but these seem minor when balanced against the positives.
When it comes to licensed products in any medium I always look for something that recreates the "feel" of the original; in The Stick of Truth I see the best example of this that I can remember and if it had a more robust combat system it would have been perfect. As it is, it's still the most enjoyable game I have played in the last three years.

People (especially the one review from IGN) really gave this game a hard time because of the fighting system. Some negative reviews are from people who didn't understand why they made you go through the funny scenes to get the magic abilities. They also were confused that you didn't actually use the abilities like that. I feel sorry for some of the negative reviewers for that.

All-in-all, this is a great game if you love RPGs. I did bump it down 1 point because on the PC version, it takes a long time to sell junk and that was a bit annoying.

This game is hilarious. It's a good turn-based RPG, and was a lot of fun to play through. Only problem was the consistent need to use items. It's not that much of a problem, as healing items are cheap and easy to find.

If you're a fan of South Park you know the type of humour to expect and The Stick of Truth is South Park at its absolute best, the writing is huge reason as to why it's so amazing. I have never laughed so much while playing a game, every time you thought it couldn't get funnier or more ludicrous it did, some of the stuff they have you do is beyond offensive and I absolutely loved every minute of it. Looking past what you'd expect from a South Park there's also a decent turn based RPG underneath, the combat felt great if not a little unbalanced and easy (I highly suggest playing on hardcore) but there were some really tough fights a long the way, surprisingly not the last one which I one shot, though. Overall the gameplay was solid and didn't hurt the game whatsoever but it could definitely be improved upon for the sequel. I honestly think even if you've never watched South Park you can fully enjoy this game, assuming you have a good sense of humour and aren't offended easily (or at all in some cases).

Whether you're a South Park fan or not I highly recommend this game as it's an absolute blast to play that will have you howling like a loon every 10 minutes!

Most movie/tv show tie-in games tend to be a attempt to rip off popular games at the time to attract new people to the movie/tv show or to just try and ring some cheap profits out of the fans. Because of this they fail spectacularly. The Stick of Truth does not fall to this.

The Stick of Truth feels you like are inside and part of a South Park episode or movie, it does not rely on cheap gimmicks or trying to "broaden the audience". The graphics are not 3d hd bloomfests with hyper realistic animation, they exactly like the show. The voice acting isn't needless celebrity voices, they are the voices from the show. The gameplay is pretty simply and intuitive, a few puzzles here and there, combat is fun and the attacks are hilarious with each class having pretty cool abilities. The companion attacks are hilarious. There is little to no "grinding" needed to continue the story, so people who don't play many RPGs are not turned off. To top it off there are more than a few homages to past and present RPGs and several satirical passes at various video game tropes.

Going back to my original statement, this game was made for the fans. It is not some watered down, executive pandering lump of failure. I am not a fan, this game was not made for me, and it shouldn't be. It was made for the fans and that is EXACTLY how these types of games SHOULD BE.

This game is as funny as the best moments of South Park but without recycling the TV show's jokes. The reason it really stands out is because it manages to be hilarious by placing you next to the kids of South Park. Suddenly, the whole place comes alive! Every piece of dialogue, every action, every mission is very funny, and not in a TV way, but in a PC game way.
South Park was developed by Oblivion, a company that knows how to make great RPGs, while the dialogues and script were written by the famous duo behind the series.
As a result, the game is primarily story driven, and more entertainment than challenge. The missions are hilarious and not at all repetitive, and the overall experience will blow your mind. But this is exactly the point: you play this game to laugh.
The absolute highlight of the game is the trip to Canada, where the humor reaches Monty Pyhtonesque heights.
There has been a lot of criticism regarding the repetitive and somewhat boring fighting in the game. I disagree. It is hilarious, and although some animations are long and after some viewings, they may end up being boring, there are enough companions to the main character to break the monotony. However, if you really are looking forward to exceptional RPG turn-based fighting, do yourself and play Pillars of Eternity (also by Oblivion).
This game has no flaws. It is a unique experience and if you like South Park, you must absolutely play it. I played it with a friend and we ended up staying up all night, laughing our guts out. I don't think I have ever laughed this much with another game. Smile yes, but actual laughter?
Final note: you must like the show.

The game itself is what you would expect of South Park. The game feels as though you are seeing/playing an actual episode of the titular show. Your favorite characters are here including Cartman, Butters, Tweek, Jimmy, Craig, Kenny and more. You start by creating your very own character who is a bit of a blank slate. In true South Park fashion Cartman starts the mud slinging as soon as you give your character a name. Its from this moment that you nod your head knowingly that this is indeed South Park.

You are on a quest to protect the stick of truth and keep it from the hands of the elves. Along the way you will meet meth addicts, aliens and more. Its hard to write a review without spoiling some of the great moments in the game that will put a smile on your face.

Beneath its crass, crude and faithful exterior is a surprising amount of depth in the gameplay itself. You have magic, ranged and melee attacks and find various bits of gear to equip. You have abilities that use PP while others like your fart attacks use mana. The game makes clever use of allowing you to time a counter and block incoming damage. One of my favorite abilities is kicking enemies in the nuts to stun them. Completing sidequests can also net you some powerful summons that you can use as well.

In the end Stick of Truth is not only one of the more faithful licensed games I have played. But it may just be one of the best licensed games I have played. If you are a fan of South Park you are sure to enjoy this adventure. Preorder the sequel and get this one for free.

Whilst it downloaded I remember thinking to myself, "Will I regret this pricey purchase", and "Will this end up just another South Park failure in the media of video games" ... It's been a long journey here, let's face it. All the previous South Park games felt like the scripts were lifted from the episodes and, if anything, made me think "Trey Parker, stop stealing my money for **** ... but then... the game opens... I create a character (charming, in that South Park way) and then enter the town of South Park and straight into meeting Butters & shortly after, Cartman.
At this point, just 10 minutes in, I loved it. Unapologetically loved it. Like a giant ball of South Park memorabilia, exploring the town and playing "Lord of the Rings" with the kids was exceptionally fun, and I was happy. Then the game takes a darker turn. Then a darker turn after that. Then it goes to the bottom of the bucket of all that is poor taste and scrapes along eagerly to be the outright offensive. This is when you know the boys did good. Finally a South Park game gamers can not only enjoy for being the lure of South Park itself, but also for being a genuinely fun RPG!

I won't put in spoilers, but farting on balls, Manbearpig, nazi zombies and a lot worse make for an incredible little journey whereby you will get to meet or use every character in the South Park world.

    Why not a 10?

The game ended. It ended and left me upset. It is only 30hours long or so, and I completed it in 38hours including collecting everything etc.

I can't wait to get South Park Fractured But Whole in the near future now on my PS4 ideally!!
