This is a re-release of the awesome title originally on dreamcast! Recognize this going in, the graphics are a lot of fun but may not be on par with the more modern stuff. This game was a lot of fun to replay, but BE AWARE OF THIS -- The game cannot exceed 1024x768 resolution, which means most PC gamers will have it horribly stretched on their widescreens or in teeny tiny window mode. I use 1920x1080 and this game was taking up like a corner of the screen, best case scenario to retain its graphic quality, which is enjoyable still. A great title worth porting from an under-appreciated platform, it just should have been reworked to include at least resolution graphics options. HD Sonic is now available in "Generations"! But I wish this was too. Expand

It seems like before this game was made Sonic and the Camera had a drunken night together and Sonic said that he didn't want anything too serious and the Camera talk this rather harshly because they work as well together as a Mouse trap in a bowl of hot soup.

The control scheme is also quite weird, I wish you were allowed to remap the buttons but, nope, we are stuck with the arrow keys,

I was hoping for the mouse to be the camera and WASD to be movement SPACE to jump and Q and E to be the action buttons.

The story is also the same ol' same ol' for a Sonic game, Eggman is doing bad stuff, you've got to stop him.

Music is nice though, but that's about it's only saving grace.

Not worth $20 AUD, but if you can find it for say $2 or possibly free.
Then I'd say give it a whirl, but if not steer clear and just look up the soundtrack on youtube.

Now hold on, don't take my rating the wrong way, the "5/10" refers to the game as a whole.

If I were just judging the Sonic levels, I'd give it a modest "7/10" because the bits with Sonic are the best part of the game and I always go back to play them. Tails is pretty much just Sonic's story, except he can fly and the levels are abridged. I'm not into Knuckles' treasure hunting missions

Tails is pretty much just Sonic's story, except he can fly and the levels are abridged. I'm not into Knuckles' treasure hunting missions and kind of wish he could explore the levels to get to the animal capsule like in Sonic's levels. Amy has the same issues that Tails' levels have, but she runs at a really slow pace & can't fly, though I do like using her hammer. Gamma is alright, he controls well plus I like blowing the crap out of everything, and even his story-line is decently delivered. Big the Cat is terrible and boring as sh*t, but I'm pretty sure every Sonic fan is aware of that. The voice acting isn't very good and the cutscenes are atrociously animated.

So as a whole, Sonic Adventure is a mediocre game, but that doesn't mean there aren't any good stuff in it. Like I said, Sonic's levels can be a total blast and present how a proper 3D Sonic game could be pulled off if Sonic Team stuck with this formula. Not to mention, the game's soundtrack is FANTASTIC, it's probably my favorite OST from any video game ever, all the tracks seem to play at just the right moments and fit their environments quite well(even the cheesy "Crush 40" rock songs).

It's a game with a brilliant soundtrack & solid level design pulled down by horrible cutscenes & tacked-on characters that make the game drag tremendously...

A lack of polish in levels, badly acted plotlines and unnecessary adventure fields between core levels.
