Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a concise, focused sniping experience that packs a good punch at just $40. With lots of long range shots, fun gadgets, and good mission design, it’s an easy recommend if you’re looking for a summer sniping romp.

The enemy AI needs work and the game’s budget was too low for the developers to polish all the details, but with its spacious environments perfect for extremely long shots (headshots on moving targets from 1500 meters are awesome!) and interesting combat scenarios turning sometimes into puzzle-like situations, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is definitely worth recommending as a well-designed, really fun game. Despite some glitches and bugs, and a useless drone, this really is the definitive modern day sniper experience, and definitely recommended.

Blending classic stealth mechanics with puzzle-y sniping, Contracts 2 gets the job done.

Rather complete and benefiting from a significant visual improvement, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 has been able to emancipate itself from its predecessor without denigrating it. While remaining faithful to the principles of the first episode, this sequel relies on immersive and spectacular ultra-long-distance spots. The developers have chosen a path that may not appeal to everyone, but in our opinion, these sequences provide additional variety. The free phases, between action and infiltration, are still present and the overall experience is very solid. CI Games is mastering its subject more and more and demonstrating it once again.

If one can stomach the questionable story choices, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 has some of the most engaging sniping action around. Whether a player wants to simply click a button and watch a slo-mo bullet explode a head, or whether they want to be forced to calculate exactly how far an enemy will walk in the one and a half seconds between the bullet leaving the barrel and closing the deadly distance, SGWC2 scales exactly to any level of interest and skill. It may be brutally violent, but it’s an intensely satisfying sniper experience.

Players of the first Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts game will find this second game an all-around improvement, especially in mission design and pacing. The story is a bland concoction of cultural and military stereotypes but it does a proper job of setting the stage for the action, which can be very satisfying, at least at sniping distance. The less open-world nature of the campaign keeps things moving and the large toybox of gadgets and weapons is there for players to use, or not. I wish Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 had a more engaging set of characters and better action combat outside the sniping mechanics, but the game is a well-made step in the right direction for the franchise.

I don't feel that Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a major upgrade over the previous title, but the presentation got up a notch or two, and so are the graphics. While I love the sandbox and semi-open world aspects, I think the implementation feels artificial and ruins the immersion more often than not. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contract 2 doesn't bring too many new things to the table, so it more of a safe rather than an evolutionary sequel. The sniping experience feels satisfying enough to keep you entertained for the entire campaign, and the way the maps are designed leaves room for different tactics. I think this a solid entry in the Sniper Ghost Warrior Contract series, but it's nothing revolutionary.

With exhilarating moment to moment gameplay, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 delivers on its promise of longer shots, new gadgets, better contracts, and everything you’ve come to expect. Sure, it brings bugs and design choices that’ll make you scratch your head, but that’s no reason to avoid this one. Lock and load.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 doesn't revolutionize the stealth genre, but it doesn't have to: it's a game that knows its objectives and, because of that, manages to become a really fun adventure. Despite lacking a good story and having some noticeable technical flaws, it's one of the most enjoyable sniper and infiltration games that the industry has to offer.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 works well as a sniping game and a stealth FPP game with interesting maps. The title focuses on getting straight to gameplay instead of overwhelming players with numerous scripts and cutscenes. It's not perfect, but each installment of the series is getting closer to a bullseye.
