This is the best entry in the franchise yet: The level design is great and you have loads of options to get the job done. But the save system is very inflexible and the dumb enemies drag the experience down.

Ultimately, Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2 is a really strong stealth shooter in an unfortunate package.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is one of the best games in the world for doing sniping right, that's something I firmly believe. However, CI Games almost seem afraid of letting the game shine, all too often moving you away from sniping, an action the game is named after. In addition, the game is showing a few issues, such as downright stupid AI and a few bugs here and there. It's a shame because there are good open areas to move around in, the contracts allow you to use your brain and plan the perfect hit and it all looks great while you're on your path to becoming the world's best blood-spatter creator.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 still manages to offer a decent romp with its blend of stealth and action. Unfortunately, it relies too much on "long shot contracts" as opposed to the sandbox-oriented exploration of its predecessor. Likewise, given a multitude of challenges in each level, the autosave system becomes noticeably restrictive.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a safe sequel that doesn't address enough issues from its predecessor, while diluting the improved and exciting stealth infiltration missions with uninspiring extreme-long-range assignments.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a rather simplistic game, aimed to the more casual audience. It can be a little frustrating, especially when there's too much enemies on screen, and when the pacing starts to drag on. But the shooting itself feels fine, and it's not like there is a lot of sniper-focused games on the market right now.

The core of the experience remains enjoyable and fun, as long as you take it more like a more of the same, if not almost an expansion of the first Contracts, and accept its obvious limitations and problems.

Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 feels like it dovetails with its predecessor nicely like an action movie double-bill. It's got new locations to explore, and long shot locations that add a degree of brainteasing to the otherwise standard-fare shooting, but overall it does what it sets out to do – it's a shooter for those that want to put holes in heads from miles away. And hey, maybe I'm one of those.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 blows off a heck of a lot of heads, but never managed to blow my mind. Its long range sniper shots feel genuinely satisfying to pull off, but the enemy AI is so dimwitted it almost seems cruel to kill them. With an upgrade system that’s largely skippable and mostly uninspired mission challenges, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a competent sniper sim that lacks the edge required to be a real sharpshooter.

Contracts 2 is, regrettably, a near miss that can’t be resolved with a quick follow-up shot. The run of the mill shooting drags the rest of the game down, and there’s so much of it it’s nearly impossible to overlook.vHowever, I’ve still enjoyed my time with the game and will be dipping back into the Long Shot contracts for a while to polish off some more of those challenges.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 has in its favor the shortage of titles with similar characteristics on the market. Its accessibility and adaptability to any player is, by far, its greatest success. However, the progress that the saga showed with its predecessor in 2019 has been cut off, we are facing a less ambitious delivery than one might expect. The truth is that, without being completely upset, I expected a lot more from it, having left me somewhat indifferent. There are better alternatives in the genre, even within its own saga.

You can collect diaries and tinder boxes in the levels, for each objective and collectible you get cash and skill points. You use the cash to get upgrades for your equipment, like silencers for your sniper rifle, or different kinds of weapons, the game has a fantastic arsenal available and a bunch of significant upgrades for each gun.

The skills vary from stealth kills that you can chain, similar to the Far Cry games, to the ability of climbing from the bottom of zip lines like in Tomb Raider. You also have a “mask vision” mode that relies on an automatically rechargeable battery, it highlights interactable objects and, after you upgrade it, security systems, and enemies.

The levels are extremely varied, not only for how they look, but also because of their design, most of the levels are composed of open areas with a multitude of different objectives to complete, think of something like Metro Exodus, or Sniper Elite 4, it offers a fantastic amount of freedom for how to tackle your objectives, as well as what objective you want to get to first.

The stealth mechanics are fairly simplistic, but satisfying, you can sneak behind enemies and either kill them quickly with your knife, or alternatively, you can interrogate them, interrogating them reveals enemy locations, and if already known, they can also reveal caches, and secret ammo cases.
The sniping is extremely satisfying, the game is fairly violent and there’s a lot of feedback in the bullet kill cams, that you can disable, or increase the frequency of, to your liking.

The game looks beautiful, and detailed, varied in its presentation, and runs beautifully on pc.

The game is fairly cheap and offers a lot of replayability.

Happy to see this developer improving so much.

Poor key bindings, a confusing interface (how for example do you actually select grenades and throw them?), messy sandbox missions that feel aimless (no pun intended), stupid enemies, too may long shot missions and annoyingly drawn out save cycles. Topped off by more than a few bugs.

Eye candy wise it has a lot to offer but then so do a lot of other poor games. I played for a couple of hours and quickly became bored and irritated, in equal measure.

Last time I'll have anything to do with this franchise.
