May 25, 2022Plainly put, Sniper Elite 5 not only managed to meet my expectations but far surpass them. What I thought would be a fun game for a couple of hours at most became quickly a phenomenal release I couldn't get more of. Whether I charged in guns blazing or tried to be the ideal sniper or I did the side quests or main objectives, I had fun.
-
May 26, 2022Sniper Elite 5 takes the foundation of the of the familiar franchise and builds upon it with improvements to world design, historical accuracy, and accessibility.
-
May 25, 2022In many ways Sniper Elite 5 is Sniper Elite 4 with a few new features and a fresh coat of paint, and I'm happy that this is the case. Except for the kill cam novelty having entirely worn off at this point, most of the gameplay still feels fresh. Sneaking around and lining up shots are equally rewarding, and the large, open levels give you plenty of freedom to tackle each objective in the way that you want. Sniper Elite 5 provides players with the necessary tools to feel like an elite sniper who's using superior tactics and stealth to take down a bunch of Nazis, and the game has certainly hit the bull's-eye.
-
May 25, 2022Putting it under the scope, Rebellion Developments has delivered a coherent, open-ended stealth experience filled with plenty of freedom. This is peak Sniper Elite, with so much about the game inspiring tactical, sneaky gameplay that makes you feel like a real wartime marksman.
-
May 25, 2022Sniper Elite 5 is a game that knows exactly what it is, and delivers on all fronts. The x-ray kills are as good as ever, and improvements to stealth and level design make the campaign enjoyable between the moments where you’re shooting through a guy’s eyeball. The Axis Invasion mode adds an entirely new dynamic to multiplayer, which still features the standard modes for a more traditional experience. It’s hard to imagine fans of the series not being satisfied with what’s there in Sniper Elite 5.
-
May 26, 2022Sniper Elite 5 marks the new entry point for tactical shooters, and although it's not a big revolution for this kind of games, thanks to a refined and engaging stealth and sniping approach, as well as the interaction with many elements of the scenario, it offers a fun gameplay in which there isn't a single way to complete missions that require multiple objectives to be fullfilled, all while offering a robust challenge. It’s a pity that the game is not especially daring, but it's a fun single player and the online should grant it a lengthy lifespan.
-
May 31, 2022Overall, Sniper Elite 5 is a very high quality and very playable addition to the Sniper Elite series. It offers an interesting environment, great replayability, but also plenty of cooperation and multiplayer options. Really good choice.
-
May 25, 2022Even five entries in, Sniper Elite 5 manages to deliver on the core gameplay sniping loop while managing to provide us with a handful of new features to keep things fresh. There are a few bugs to hammer out, and some movement systems are underbaked, but fans and newcomers alike will find a lot to like here.
-
Jun 10, 2022Sniper Elite5 shows overall improvement while maintaining the franchise's core mechanic. Though some might think nothing has ever changed, it doesn't feel like a disadvantage since the series has its own merit. However, overall map design and composition could have been better.
-
Jun 2, 2022Sniper Elite 5 is like an enhanced version of the Sniper Elite 4. The content hasn't changed and the feeling is similar.
-
Jun 24, 2022Sniper Elite delivers all the action you can expect from a game that has Sniper in its name. You'll love it especially if you enjoy invading other players games and hunting them.
-
May 27, 2022Just like Sniper Elite 4 before it, the latest addition to the series takes the crown of the best game for those who prefer to employ stealth and kill from a distance rather than engage in direct firefights. Its X-Ray kill cam is still loads of fun while impressively large, detailed maps offer lots of freedom and many additional challenges, so it’s a shame that uninteresting story, poor AI and flawed physics hold it back.
-
May 27, 2022I like this slow evolution towards a full-fledged stealth game reminiscent of the Hitman series, with more options and gameplay modes. Sniper Elite 5 is a good example of how to improve your series without implementing controversial ideas.
-
May 26, 2022Sniper Elite 5 follows in its immediate predecessor's footprints with another massive open-ended sandbox for you to experiment in. There's a renewed emphasis on player agency this time around that factors into every aspect of its design, from the way each sprawling map is constructed, right down to the addition of a broad weapon customization system. Invisible barriers tend to break the immersion at times, and the AI can be overly finicky as it veers between competence and incompetence. Fairburne isn't the most graceful protagonist, either, but these shortcomings aren't damaging enough to seriously dampen the glee that comes from shooting Nazis in the face from 300 yards away. When it comes to long-range combat, Sniper Elite 5 has mastered the craft.
-
May 25, 2022Sniper Elite 5 is the best game in the series so far. Its intricately designed levels, deep weapon customization system, and satisfying gameplay offer hours upon hours of entertaining ways to kill Nazis. After five games, the game’s story and character development still feel too underdeveloped, making every mission blend together in an unending series of contextless kill cams and gravelly voiced one-liners, but if you don’t care about any of that then you will still find a lot to enjoy.
-
May 25, 2022Sniper Elite 5 is just as fun as its predecessor but doesn't dare any significant innovations, therefore it feels too familiar.
-
May 25, 2022Sniper Elite 5 is excellent, genuinely. This is a bold step forward for a franchise that felt like it was treading water, and it’s one of 2022’s most essential releases. Bugs and missteps stop it from being a true GOTY contender, but fans of open-world stealth will be enamoured.
-
May 25, 2022Sniper Elite 5 excels at being an entertaining experience with a high level of tactical challenge that matches the player’s engagement. It’s a game that delivers on everything it’s trying to provide and doubles down with excellent sniping mechanics, gun customization, and gorgeous environments. It can be a bit overly complicated in some areas, and the random AI glitches can hurt the immersion, but this is the best entry of the series to date, and I don’t see it slowing down any time soon.
-
May 25, 2022Sniper Elite 5 has a few weaknesses like the cliche story, the frumpy graphics and some bugs. But overall it’s a great game with a lot of gameplay variety and a great amount of content.
-
Jun 15, 2022Despite its artificial intelligence problems and simple story, Sniper Elite 5 manages to stand out with its fun gameplay and dynamics like XRay.
-
Jun 1, 2022Although technically dated, the game offers a neat aesthetic and is based on French landscapes (including the very vertical Mont Saint Michel) which will have a particular resonance with the inhabitants of France.
-
May 31, 2022Thanks to the foundation built by its predecessor, Sniper Elite 5 is a good entry in the franchise, with large open levels and capable stealth mechanics. While it has several decent multiplayer options, better execution was needed to really hit all targets.
-
May 27, 2022Sniper Elite 5 is a perfectly competent fresh instalment in the longstanding series. It succeeds in carrying over much of what most people loved about the previous games. However, its near-exclusive focus on iterating rather than reiterating often works against it. If you loved past instalments, you’ll probably enjoy this one. However, for those put off by previous Sniper Elite games, Sniper Elite 5 won't be the game to draw you back in. Sniper Elite 5 feels less like a sequel to Sniper Elite 4, and instead more akin to a rather large expansion DLC for said predecessor.
-
May 25, 2022Sniper Elite 5 reuses a tried-and-tested formula that has made the franchise a hit. Unfortunately, that familiarity can wear thin as you continue to progress. Still, some multiplayer modes might keep you engaged.
-
Jun 1, 2022A quality step-up for a series that's still short of greatness.
-
May 26, 2022Sniper Elite 5 brings a few improvements to an IP that works well. But after waiting for over 5 years, we would have hoped to see a bit more new stuff, and to be able to enjoy up-to date visuals and animations. Still, if you like the series, this journey through France will be quite enjoyable.
-
May 31, 2022There’s not much about Sniper Elite 5 that’s particularly remarkable. That, however, didn’t stop the visceral X-Ray kills and the simple act of mowing down Nazis to see me through to the end of its campaign. There are plenty of other games out there that do stealth, action, or World War II better, yet the series’ formula is very much its own and does manage to carry a game that otherwise struggles to do anything interesting. Its flexible difficulty, the tension of invasions, and gruesome long-range executions keep things fun if the very premise appeals to you. But certain antiquated design choices and guns that don’t feel all that great keep Sniper Elite 5 from being memorable.
-
Oct 22, 2022Sniper Elite 5 is a mission pack disguised as a sequel, with a bunch of small, unremarkable adjustments to the tried formula.

May 25, 2022A consistently entertaining series steps up a gear to provide a true great of the genre. [Eurogamer Essential]
-
May 25, 2022Sniper Elite 5 maintains the series signature sharpshooting across some gorgeous locales, but its renewed emphasis on close-combat encounters often feels like a shallow sidestep away from your rifle, leaving objectives feeling flat and monotonous. The game's at its best when you can sit back and snipe like a champ, but when the campaign constantly forces you into tight, muddled environments, it ends up distracting you from that glorious sharpshooting. The new Invasion Mode ups the ante and makes missions more tense, while the new weapon customisation system lets you personalise your sniping experience, but the amount of time spent sprinting around means that Sniper Elite 5 often fails to hit the mark.
