Disappointing, but with a glimmer of hope down the line for a better iteration.

With so few 3D platformers released, some fans of the genre may still be tempted to give Skully a chance, and it's hard to blame them. However, the game is just a frustrating experience from start to finish, with very few redeeming qualities. Those looking for a new 3D platformer to play may be better off just keeping their fingers crossed that the next game in the genre lives up to expectations.

The skull is too sensitive. I barely touch my keyboard and it rolls really far and into the water. I could not get past the first chapterThe skull is too sensitive. I barely touch my keyboard and it rolls really far and into the water. I could not get past the first chapter after 10 hours of play and really sore fingers. I see reviews where they say skully will stop or turn on a dime, but I did not find that to be true. It over-rolls constantly and goes way too fast.

I could not find a setting to slow this down. I was unable to master the "arches", which are a sort of elevated stone turn. At first I could jump over water to avoid having to use them, but at a certain point.... you become stuck if you cant do it. Possibly not the same headache on a controller, but using ASWD, you can not smoothly make it around the bend and try to adjust the camera with the mouse at the same time. With practice, maybe, but I kept having to play through other areas over and over to get to the turn, and it was just frustrating.

The inability to control your character, which I would compare to trying to stand on a greased beach ball (using keyboard controls), makes the positive things about the game a mute point. It is graphically beautiful and interesting. I wanted to see far more of this world, but my fingers were cramping, I was angry and frustrated, and after many hours of not really getting much past the starting area, I would not recommend the game for PC players.
