The skull is too sensitive. I barely touch my keyboard and it rolls really far and into the water. I could not get past the first chapter after 10 hours of play and really sore fingers. I see reviews where they say skully will stop or turn on a dime, but I did not find that to be true. It over-rolls constantly and goes way too fast.

I could not find a setting to slow this down. I was unable to master the "arches", which are a sort of elevated stone turn. At first I could jump over water to avoid having to use them, but at a certain point.... you become stuck if you cant do it. Possibly not the same headache on a controller, but using ASWD, you can not smoothly make it around the bend and try to adjust the camera with the mouse at the same time. With practice, maybe, but I kept having to play through other areas over and over to get to the turn, and it was just frustrating.

The inability to control your character, which I would compare to trying to stand on a greased beach ball (using keyboard controls), makes the positive things about the game a mute point. It is graphically beautiful and interesting. I wanted to see far more of this world, but my fingers were cramping, I was angry and frustrated, and after many hours of not really getting much past the starting area, I would not recommend the game for PC players.

Skully has its heart in the right place but can't quite execute things correctly. The movement is zippy when you're in ball form, but you're not going to find too many things to challenge you. The puzzle mechanics are good, but you won't have to think too hard about your next move. It's a fine experience that's not too enthralling due to its unevenness, so it's difficult to stick it out to the end.

I feel Skully had huge potential but due to the overall low quality (dated visuals, samey levels, poor voice acting, terrible camera) I can’t recommend it. If you choose to play it for the story (which is actually quite good), remember to use a gamepad, because keyboard and mouse controls are horrible. [10/2020, p.71]

In all, Skully is a quirky and entertaining romp with fun puzzles and platforming, amusing character interactions, a good story, beautiful music, and awe-inspiring landscapes. Easily an entertaining game that this reviewer can and will gladly come back to time and time again, no bones about it.
