Sker Ritual is a fantastic game that successfully pulls off a highly desired gameplay formula certain triple-A companies haven’t been able to in years. Though the game has one or two quirks, I would say that all that needs to change is adding dedicated servers and removing the peer-to-peer lag issues, and Sker Ritual would be the perfect Zombies game for fans itching to play the genre again.

Sker Ritual is a magnificent alternative to Call of Duty's zombies mode and online cooperative multiplayer titles such as Warhammer 40,000 Darktide or Killing Floor. It needs improvements in matchmaking and graphical performance, but it offers a visceral and very enjoyable experience in company, showing an attractive terrifying setting with Steampunk elements.

At the end of the day, Sker Ritual offers solid gameplay, with a nice arsenal, enemies with unique powers that add to the difficulty, and a well-balanced mix of waves and objectives. Visually, it has very detailed work. The problem is that what makes it great at the beginning ends up condemning it when thinking about the game in the long term.

Additionally, players have the opportunity to team up with three strangers (or friends) to vanquish the evil that plagues Sker. Each map offers different enemy types to battle, unique "wonder-weapons" specific to each map, and bosses from the Maid of Sker world. The game employs various mechanics to keep the gameplay fresh and distinguish itself from CoD:Zombies, such as the Miracle Points system, which adds a roguelike element to the game giving you different special abilities or buffs to choose from.

The gameplay loop is highly entertaining, allowing players to either test their luck and see how far they can progress through higher waves or complete objectives to reach the final boss of each level. Personally, what truly sets this game apart and keeps me coming back for more is its meticulously designed setting, artistic choices, music, and well-crafted enemies.

For those seeking a refreshing wave shooter experience, "Sker Ritual" comes highly recommended. Despite being in early access, a full release is on the horizon. See you soon on Sker Island, stranger!
