Skeleton Boomerang is a challenging 2D platformer with a lovely variety of levels, weapon variations and goofy enemies to battle against. There are times when design decisions negatively impact play, such as the choice to work with a cramped square screen resolution in the widescreen era. There are a few glitches as well, though nothing that likely can’t be ironed out with a patch or two. With that out of the way, you’re left with a charming — and tough — game with an awesome weapon to use in Hunter’s quest against evil.

An entertaining and nicely constructed love letter to the Metroidvania games of old. If you’re the kind of person that got excited for the SNES mini then this is one to watch.

As a whole, Skeleton Boomerang is good. The game strikes a nice balance between being short enough for casual players to finish while also hiding lots of different things for completionists. Though the lack of checkpoints can be frustrating for those who aren't used to it, the game feels fair, since most of the enemies and obstacles can be easily overcome if you put some thought into it. There's nothing remarkable about the title, but for $10, it's a solid purchase.

Poor controls and a bland aesthetic mean that Skeleton Boomerang is a game you won't be returning to any time soon.

Skeleton Boomerang is definitely a game worth playing over and over. The overall gameplay is challenging, yet addictive. The game is justSkeleton Boomerang is definitely a game worth playing over and over. The overall gameplay is challenging, yet addictive. The game is just short enough for casual players to complete fairly quickly while leaving a crap ton of extra content for explorers. The soundtrack is one of the more recognizable things about the game, being an absolute banger. Every single track in the OST can be listened to for hours without getting repetitive. The reVamped update provided a lot of QoL additions, most notably the 16:9 resolution and Time Trials. Overall, this game is way too underrated and deserves much more attention than it has. Expand
