    Hot contender for worst game of 2022. They literally took everything that made Saints Row 1-4 fun and tossed it out. What is left is a low quality rip-off of GTA, MINUS the fun.
    Graphics are a good 10 years behind, quests are repetitive and tedious, and the bugs! Think Cyberpunk 2077 launch bug fest!
    Worst offender are the characters. Gone are the beloved characters such as Gat or    Hot contender for worst game of 2022. They literally took everything that made Saints Row 1-4 fun and tossed it out. What is left is a low quality rip-off of GTA, MINUS the fun.
    Graphics are a good 10 years behind, quests are repetitive and tedious, and the bugs! Think Cyberpunk 2077 launch bug fest!
    Worst offender are the characters. Gone are the beloved characters such as Gat or Shaundi, replaced by absolute trash characters that I just want to kill off and not coop with. Their goal: to pay off student loan. And bash capitalism. Really? That's the best they could come up with??? They are the diversity hires of the gaming world and just absolute cringe. Coupled with totally abysmal writing this is a recipe for disaster making you yell at the characters to just STFU! Unfortunately you can't shoot them ( I tried).
    Then there's the visuals: atrocious! When you go out of town into the desert you could mistake the game for Rage 2 - it looks almost the same from the washed out desert graphics to the pink arrows on the road telling you where to go next.
    Dumbed down gameplay (auto-aim), a bland, empty, boring open world.

    The aiming in this game is simply atrocious, you are better off just letting your crosshair on the middle of the screen and moving your character around to line up the shots.
    You cant choose what to turn off from the hud, its either everything on or everything off even the crosshairs.
    Bugs, bugs, bugs, you cant wear what you want because it bugs out and makes you wear whatever. The map    The aiming in this game is simply atrocious, you are better off just letting your crosshair on the middle of the screen and moving your character around to line up the shots.

    The game feels outdated, and I'm not just talking about the graphics. Boring characters, story and missions. The city is lifeless (saints row 3&4 definitely had more effort put in their cities). I guess it can be fun if you like brainless open world games but if you want something different and good this is not it.

    I had to make a **** metacritic account for this **** game, i loved the orignal games, very nostalgic for me but this game both filled with game breaking bugs and awful writing and voice acting seems like it wasnt even finished when they released the game other than a couple engine assets.     This game is a stain on the saints row franchise, hell I had more fun playing gat out of hell and that game is a trainwreck but with this I just couldn't the cringey writing is just too much, the story was just...god no, the gameplay was very boring especially with the broken AI and the bugs made it even more of an annoyance.

    This game man, I really wanted to like it but oh my lord, so many bugs and just down right horrendous characters make it so bad. If future updates improve its current situation i'll up my score but for now it stays a 0.

    Or you can compare it to Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3, although they have nothing to do with it. But do you understand what I mean?

    Maybe a couple more of these games.

    The GTA level can only be reached by GTA and then, the big question is whether she will be able to do it with the 6th part. (and will she come out at all?)

    Definitely worth taking, that's just confused by the price, this game is clearly not at the level of $ 60, but thank you for not $ 70

    Horrible aim assist, bad difficulty scaling, poor implementation of new mechanics (executions, abilities, leveling), all the ventures but 2 (shady oaks and the big one) were boring or broken, The removal of good/old mechanics like sprint attacks, quick melee, human shields, dual-wielding (it's in the game but I doubt anyone unlocked    I've 100% all the games in the series. this ain't it.

    Ok, i'm a long time Saints Row fan. I love every aspect of its goofiness, cringey moments, crazy gameplay and everything. Mix it all with an amazing performance, consistent balance between things to do just running throughout the world map and interesting gameplay mechanics and you have a definitely great game.

    This one has none of that. It's boring, bland, the cringe and the absurd is    Ok, i'm a long time Saints Row fan. I love every aspect of its goofiness, cringey moments, crazy gameplay and everything. Mix it all with an amazing performance, consistent balance between things to do just running throughout the world map and interesting gameplay mechanics and you have a definitely great game.

    This one has none of that. It's boring, bland, the cringe and the absurd is still there but is not fun anymore. You don't actually have anything to do. Empty streets like there was some kind of zombie apocalypse and everyone is dead, the few pedestrians you find on the street act like stupid 2008 AI with a single animation jump to avoid being run over, the same exact animation each and every time. There is no running kill moves, police chases end as soon as you exit your vehicle, there is no wanted system, they removed some of the previous Saints Row features, you have this absolute disastrous aiming mode, and add a bunch of bugs, horrible performance issues, fps drops, freezes, stuttering and you have the worst game of 2022, and of course, the worst Saints Row since the first one.

    BLAND. I've played the last 2 SR games several times through. This one has irritating / vapid teammates and all the super crazy fun stuff is gone. They could have written in interesting gangs like the Sons of Samedi, or just anything. Most missions were so on the rails, they should've been animations. The glitches didn't end the game for me, but they are there through every mission.

    I tried to have fun with this, I really did. I really liked the character creation and how similar the game was to the old Saints Row games, but the bugs and the unlikeable Zoomer characters really wore me down. I would've preferred it if the story had your character on their own. Oh well.

If you run very fast with the car for some minutes and then explode another car and switch the music station at the same time the car just stops, all the sounds stops and everything in front of you disappear! Why... Why let devs who looks like they didn't like SR or never even played a game before to make a SR game... Then aside from all this we have the weapon challenge tracking that every sane person would expect to be easily tracked in some menu but in this game you actually have to travel to a gunshop just to see the progress of the weapon leveling, it is like those old super nintendo games that at that time the devs hadn't thought on such obvious feature yet but, hey, it was the beginning of game developing, but to do that on a 2022 game, it just looks like the devs of this game never played a game to not know that! How Deep Silver chose this team? Everything looks very amateur, char creation is worst than SR3, if you turn on Nvdia's RT the game looks very glitchy, if you turn it off the game looks just like SR3 but it is much, MUCH heavier, how can they made a game this heavy looks like the super optimized SR3 is a mystery...     Every aspect of this game is just so bad. The shooting mechanics haven't changed in a decade. the vehicles are super floaty, the dialogue is just cringe af and it creates the biggest ludonarrative dissonance since uncharted. The only redeeming factors of this game are the customisation options and how fun it is to scroll through people's bosses

    this game is absolute garbage, trash, dogwater and etc.
    In an hour of gameplay I saw a lot of texture glitches and t-poses.
    physics is completely broken.

The gravity in this game is on the level of Goat simulator, and while everything from trees to fences will crumble to pieces and cars explode like fireworks from any given vehicle crashing into it, there is always that one little rock that is barely visible and will still stop you in your tracks. Aiming, just like most of the controls, is bothersome, which in a game that pretty much has shooting as the central game mechanic is unforgivable. Stairs can become true obstacles, just like your

    -2 AI companions that tend to pile up right behind you and won't budge or move. The NPCs are true Zoomers, starting with the AI that has also been born in the late last century. Given the amount of babysitting that you have to do because they storm into danger and get themselves killed, watching them do so would be satisfying, but also ends the mission. It's the same with them riding cars or phasing out and not moving anymore. They have a lot to say, but unfortunately only three lines to chose from, and they say it with

    -1 the worst audio I've heard in a while. While the voiceovers aren't terrible, it always sounds like someone is speaking into a mic and directly next to you. Volition always had trouble with vehicle sound for some reason, but even the guns pop peas and popcorn. Which is fitting in my favorite section, which would be

    +2 the LARPing. I wouldn't be caught larping in real life if you paid me, but all the weaknesses of the game suddenly make sense; for example the finishers that never connect to whoever you are handling - in LARP they are not supposed to. And of course the guns sound like someone shooting you with thumbtacks. And of course the vehicles can't take any damage, because you can't drive cars into other cars in real life, DUH. The cringe humor and way too nice disposition of everyone suddenly makes sense; these people wouldn't commit genocide on a daily basis, but they would certainly *pretend* to do it while roleplaying. A part of me really wonders if Volition wasn't onto something when they created that part of the game, and it scratched an itch I've had since Rockstar's "Bully" - all the sandbox madness of a GTA game, but ... nobody dies. I like that. Of course you will have a 4-digit-deathcount a few hours in, except for...

    -1 the forced stealth section, are you f*ing kidding me. It's like you made a list of things that people really hate and then decided on a dare to bring it all back. That's where I quit, by the way.

    -1 the open world is every bit as dead as you have heard, and looks more like a first draft overall.

    +1 unlike everyone else I did at least enjoy the "tourist" action where I have a good look at landmarks while a narrator explains the history of a place to me, because it's one of the few instances where the city gets some character. Also, it's one of the few moments where I don't leave a trail of corpses and trashed properties, which wouldn't be a problem if

    - 2 the writing wasn't that terrible. This new old new Saints Row takes itself way to serious and ends up mixing the comedy of "Friends" with mass murder, and if you are thinking right now that this would make sense because if you had to live with these people no one would survive... no. It completely lost that particular sense for irony that made the old games so great.

    +1 for the extended character creator that might be even better than the one in Saints Row 2. There are of course limitations, and shopping for clothes has become one of the thousand collectathons on the map without any real highlights, but it sticks out as something that feels finished.

    Which may be the overall problem. I hope they don't just throw this away and give up on it. Volition already knew how to make a great Saints Row game. With a little time they might remember and patch it back in. Potential buyers should wait until they do.    … Expand

    Confused design the game. Shooting isn't fun, the quests are jump between feeling like I'm a college kid and millionaire yacht owner, and there is never a payoff to anything I do. Missions are only there to drive me into other missions.

    1) EGS Exclusive. It's a real slap in the face that you released the game as an EGS exclusive with the Steam API dll in the installation folder, and listed as a platform on the bug ticket page. No one wants this other than you. Stop it.
    2) Co-op is an absolute **** mess. My wife and I play this together, and 5 hours of playtime has actually been about 2 hours of gameplay due to the absolute state of online. Desyncs, crashes, and mission breaking bugs are the norm. We have been really excited for this for over a year and the absolute unplayable state of the co-op is appalling. We can no longer even play together. Online just stopped working after we completed our last mission together.
    3) Non-game breaking, but annoying bugs are everywhere. From cosmetic resets, to falling through terrain, to cars getting bounced every where, if you touch it, it's likely to break. It does create some funny moments, but after a while the comedy wears off and all you're left with is a janky product that honestly feels like its systems are working against you most of the time.

    It's really frustrating. There is a good game here. Unfortunately, Deep Silver seems more intent on torching any chance this reboot has of being accepted, let alone loved, than delivering on a polished project and fluid experience. The good news is that most of these issues are fixable. The bad news is that I doubt I'll know for a bit. If EGS grants my wife and I refunds, we'll catch it next year on Steam.    … Expand

    -Laughably bad story that seems like a forced twitter fever dream
    -Shooting mechanics that feel so spongy it makes the divisions gunplay look better.
    -Physics that just do not make sense. Your vehicle is essentially a tank at all times unless a mission calls for it.
    -Repetitive missions and side missions. ALL are fetch quests
    -Bugged melee and finishing moves that feel that they were not tested.
    -Dead world with no ambient sounds or civilians talking to each other. Feels hollow and half baked
    -COOP that is busted and the main point of me even trying to get a laugh resulted in numerous disconnects and frustration.
    -Animations that break at serious times
    -Enemy AI is brain dead that you could stand in front of them and they become confused.
    -Very bad shadows and graphical glitches that feel like a 360 title
    -Various clipping issues, one resulted in a clip outside of the map, free falling
    -No train physics what so ever resulting in hilariously bad clips
    The PROS
    -MAP: If the map had life into it I could see that they created a decent looking city to explore, that being said all of the buildings you cannot explore and there is no gambling in the casinos...missed opportunity
    -Character customization: The main feature and probably the one that got the most funding into was the customization you can do. Its a shame that its in this game.
    Conclusion:
    Even with all of the bugs ironed out and the COOP working, this is easiest the worst game release this year since Brokenfield and CP.
    The baked in mechanics and physics can only be haha funny for a short while, whilst the world may be interesting. Its only skin deep. Just like todays modern media it fails to deliver the spirit of gaming and what made this series so specials to fans in the first place.
    This is a wake up call to developers to listen to fans.

    the city has nothing to memorize it by and not much going on you might see a cop has and NPC car stopped and that's all so nothing to get your attention.
    driving feels like you're driving a balloon the cars fly like no gravity the only enjoyable thing is side slam cars with the new system they implemented.
    for the performance the game runs so good because it's not the graphics are last gen i had no crashed no frame drop nothing at all.
    for the last part bugs and more bugs and a lot more bugs everything is buggy i had a bug where the main character was driving a bike while standing another were i was stuck under the map and wasn't reloading didn't fix it another one where NPC disappear from the Custance and another with the phone app with a blank background and can't do anything not even the ability to close it and another where enemies spawn outside mission boundaries and so many more that i need a 5 page assignment to write them down.
    i gave the game a 4 out of 10 because of the performance and the side hassles plus the combat when it works.
    just wait for a big sale then get the game otherwise it's not worth the price tag they are asking for.

    Went in with 0 expectations and was still somehow disappointed. Couldn’t get farther than 30 seconds into the game. Character would get stuck immediately and the game would crash. I spent an hour and a half trying to get the game to work. Don’t even think about trying to play coop with a friend. To even offer versions of this game that are $100 is an insult.     Bland, boring, annoying, outdated, broken, and in some aspects - downright unfinished. A true "modern" sociopolitical product/construct, devoid of any redeeming quality. Knowing how rich on unique qualities (game mechanics/activities, writing, tone, etc...) the Saints Row franchise used to be, this is an utter insult. An insult to the franchise, an insult to gaming and entertainment inBland, boring, annoying, outdated, broken, and in some aspects - downright unfinished. In the attempt to remove all the inappropriate things away you carved out the soul of the series from this game. Goal of the game is money, aspiration to pay off student loans?!? Saddest thing about that is you could have made it fun comedic/satirical take on it andWhat the actual F? What happened to just being fun over the top GTA-like game?     This game needs a lot of work before anyone gives it a high review. It has far too many bugs which is a real issue. The story is quite boring and the gameplay is meh. I recommend waiting on this one guys.

    Those defending this game are on so much copium that it may rival that of Cyberpunk fanboys. This game is filled with issues that simply cannot be ignored. The bugs being the largest issue followed by gameplay and then the crappy activities it forces you to do to continue the main story.

Dead gameplay, flat characters as well as a flat story.. and hell even the old saints row games weren't about the story, and they still have a more meaningful lore with fun and crazy ideas. this game has not of them.

After watching countless reviews and seeing the cringeworthy dialogue first hand. I have requested a refund for the game. If you have bought this game, you should go and request a refund.     A totally unnecessary reboot. Not to say the game isn't fun. It is. Again, it's pure escapism that exists just so you can fool around with a bunch of weapons and vehicles and not have to think about it. The problem is that previous installments have done the same thing - and infinitely better. [Issue#322]

    There’s a weight of history behind Saints Row, and no matter whether you’re comparing it to the more serious early games or the sillier later ones, it’s pretty clear that the Saints Row reboot doesn’t live up to any of them.

    A newcomer would be shocked by crude animations, wonky physics and bad gunplay. Fans of the franchise are kinda used to that, but they’ll be disappointed for another reason: while Saints Row 2022 does have a few fun moments, most of them are blatantly ripped from previous games of the series.
