Terrible controls. I spent half of my time adjusting mouse sensitivity, deadzone, smoothing etc.. and I just can't get the right feeling for it. Also I can't adjust the music/sound effects properly. No matter if I turn down the sound fx lowest, some sounds are way too loud.

Graphics. -- I know this style and it can be ok, but I was shocked to discover that the game uses 2D sprites in many instances, like games from 1992. Just look carefully when you blow up something and look at the particles, they aren't 3D. Also the jumpgate animation is just so bad, I have to skip it every time, and that's also one of the loud sound fxs that I can't turn down low enough. The cockpit is kinda cool in the ships, but come on..it's 2019 where are the 3D cockpits or let me turn off some of the instruments or give me a better perspective. I know Wing Commander games play a big influence, but we don't have to copy the bad aspects or somehow make the graphics/computer limitations of that era =a feature.
Also, the game could be a lot better if it sort the the systems a bit better. "Extreme danger" sometimes is nothing, and "low crime" area and I'm blasted into pieces by a pirate with a giant ship.
Ship choices are also kinda disappointing. The top of the top ship isn't as useful- due to control issues- as a heavy transport with thick armor. The agility doesn't help here, since it seems like everyone - including me- struggling to control the ships in the game, you aren't getting a better turn-ratio or more precise hit-run style attack, than a fat transport ship, which can take the beating for a lot longer. Also missing lateral controls. I'm supposed to mine asteroids but I have to thrust away and back to find the spot to hit with the laser, because my ship can't move sideways? You gotta be joking me, even the moon lander in 1960s had lateral thrust, and this game plays well into the future, although a "weird future", ships cannot move sideways. It can also be though, because the game unfinished? J
The game is also hints being unfinished in many other aspects. You can't miss it it's apparent on the menus, graphics, options, bugs and glitches.
    Final word:
This is a half baked game really, get it if you want a couple of hours of fun go ahead, but be aware of the limitations and shortcomings. I gave up after I bought the most expensive ship and be disappointed it was worse than the 2nd cheapest one.

4 hours to buy best ship in the game with best equip. That's all. Game become boring and repetitive.

First of, this game is not a 10/10. These 10/10 scores are complete delusion. I have played the game for 30 hours and it started to get old at about 15 hours. The main character, a Female, is very boring and one dimensional. The combat is fast paced and good if you want a mind numbing experience that doesn't require a lot of skill. You can ramp up the difficulty by turning off auto follow mode, which basically points your ship at the target to make it super easy to shoot the enemy ship.

Trading is very basic and at times frustrating. You can be good or bad depending on which missions you take and this will effect which stations you are allowed to land in. There are a lot of variations in enemy ships, but you only get to fly 5, but there are some hidden ships around, but the main 5 are ok but not great. For $30 its a decent game, but does get repetitive after 10 hours and doesn't expand this style of game in any direction. It's a clone of Freelancer(2003) and Privateer (1993), both of which had far better story lines and more atmosphere.

If you want a game that doesn't require much brain power of skill its good for the price, but no way is this game a 10, at most a 7 is being generous.

The game has nice story and immersive quests. The characters are quite interesting and the atmosphere is very nice. However the combat is completely off. It is very non-enjoyable and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. There is a lot of room for improvement in this are and hopefully it will be fixed in the future.

For me this game really didn't live up to hype and feels like a missed opportunity.

After really persisting, investing time in hording money buying the best gear i find that the game just keeps punishing you. Every time i try to do a mission that has a higher than average risk it will range from doable to relentless pounding. The main mission after just 4 steps becomes impossible unless you go back, completely break the immersion and grind till you get almost the best gear in game.
The game makes you feel like Rambo at some points and quickly turns you into Rocky but you dont really survive the fights... You just keep getting beeten into a pulp.

The key bindings are also bad, since you cant really assign all the commands to different keys.

The UI could be better also, the targeting system even with the best module is hectic. You will lock on the closest target which can be just cargo while you are fighting...

PC M+K optimization is far from perfect and is not as enjoyable as when using a controller.

The story... is there one? i didnt play Rebel Galaxy but this didnt say anywhere that it was a sequel and i dont have a clue what the main story is.

There are very few ship choices and very few weapons. You dont even get to loot those weapons so the grind revolves around money/bounties and commodities.

Dog fighting in space can be really fun , if you can use SIDE and UP/DOWN THRUSTERS ! In space that is possible and more fun ...but if there are no thrusters ..its like just dogfighting in the atmosphere of earth .with normal fighting planes .

I was really looking forward to this after playing the first game but after an interesting first 6 hours getting to grips with it, the game then just becomes a monotonous grind to the end with a story that is just far less interesting than the original.

Good points: - The graphics are much improved and the cut scenes are well presented. Bad points: - Far too much grinding e.g.
I was really looking forward to this after playing the first game but after an interesting first 6 hours getting to grips with it, the game then just becomes a monotonous grind to the end with a story that is just far less interesting than the original.

    Good points:
    - The graphics are much improved and the cut scenes are well presented.

    Bad points:
    - Far too much grinding e.g. forcing you to travel from X to Y in the late game adds nothing and just irritates as at that point any little interruption isn't worth bothering with as your ship overpowers everything/you have all the money you'll ever need anyway.
    - Generally less grand than the original - a far smaller range of ships and weapons that are relatively easy to quickly pick up. The story is also just far less interesting/exciting.
    - Crashes. I forgave the first game for this as I understood it was built by a small team, but not this time. The game crashed my relatively top end machine more than all other games I've played in the past year put together, often to the point of requiring a complete re-boot. Worse, the save game issue came back and corrupted my save completely even with the Epic cloud backup and a backup save file, meaning after 10 hours in I had to start the game again... When you have this many bugs you should make it easy to save multiple versions of your save manually (by selecting save slots).

Among the many insights offered in Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, it knows that if there’s one thing better than cruising around in a sweet ride blowing stuff up and flying through their explosions, it’s cruising around in a sweet ride blowing stuff up and flying through their explosions while listening to sweet tunes.

Outlaw is a throwback to the roots of spacesim genre, a visual aid that shows where it all began and helps to understand just how far the genre has evolved since then. And the lesson to take is this: let the past stay in the past. [Issue#241, p.40]

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is a fun and addicting space combat game with an amazing soundtrack. However, controls can be really weird without a game controller and playing it for the first time is very daunting unless one watches a 40 minutes long introductory/tutorial video.
