For a game selling itself as a continuation of '90s space flight sims, they sure did **** all research into good control schemes.

The gameplay itself is what you expect of the genre, if a bit shallow. For example you can't actually dock, you can only approach stations and press 'E'. Missions consist of flying to a purple or yellow icon by pressing 'E', and then either pressing 'E' again, or clicking on enemies until they die. Sometimes you press 'E' again to loot. There is a reason it only costs $30. Your money is probably better spent on other games, unless you really want to play it for some reason. No Man's Sky is on sale for $30 right now and if you don't have it yet you'll get way more out of it.

if it wasn't for the horrendous controls I would give it a 6 or 7. I wanted to like this game, I really did, but it is so damn half baked, with incorrect keybind prompts popping up, no "up one menu" key, really strange mouse controls in certain menus, and so on. Be highly dubious of anyone giving it a 10. I could see someone who played it with a controller with no expectations of a flight sim giving it an 8 at the most, which is what the professional critics seem to have averaged on.

Definitively worse than the first. Telling people that this game reminds them of Privateer is an insult to this master-piece.

    + the music
    + ship design
    + nice intro

    - the hud and the user interface are horrible
    - the fov made me puke
    - the grind
    - the mouse controls are terri-bad
    - the protagonist is dull
    - the story is meh

    Avoid at all cost !

I loved the first rebel galaxy, the broadside combat was great, the music was amazing, and I have replayed it multiple times because there is nothing like it out there.

Outlaw is a cheap generic dogfighting game that doesn't even work on a joystick properly. It is unoriginal, the combat is based on auto-follow, so holding a button, and well... I have seen dozens of dogfighting games

There is some good in this game, but it is very much a negative experience overall.

    * Level scaling. As your ship grows more powerful, the missions you get grow harder. Even in the base starting system. Eventually, you have no 'easy' missions. There is little point to moving to other systems as the one you start in will suffice.

    * Lame story. Really? The developers never saw 'John Wick'? The protagonist actually leaves the big baddie alive and the story is about tracking him down again? Awful.

    * No real depth to the game at all. There is just nothing here and eventually it all just boils down to 'go shoot some guys'.

    * No personal storage outside your ship. It makes doing 50% of the missions an absolute nightmare as there is not real way to gather and save materials needed to complete the missions.

    * Lots of minor bugs and glitches. Nothing game breaking, but pretty dang annoying. Like coming out of warp at full speed right in front of a structure. Bang! Enjoy your repair bill. Or just about to dock at a structure and whoops. Police Scan. Bang into the structure. Enjoy your repair bill.

I am sure there are lots of folks that like this sort of game, however I am not one of them. Do wait for a while and get it on sale for $10 or so. It is really not worth much more than that, in my opinion.

The game is very poorly intuitive and balanced. You're attacked but Elite unkillable hoards of ennemies without a single chance to win. Graphics and not very nice, they're okay for a 2012 game, but not in 2019. Economy is way too basic and obscure ; anyways, you just can't have a big trade ship, as there are only 4 models of ship in the game, and the cargo capacity is ridiculous. The game is very poorly intuitive and balanced. Dogfight is very hard to manage as the radar is almost unreadable. I was waiting this game for a long time, and I'm eventually really deceived. I was hoping for a new Freelancer, I get this poor game whose content is far from any player expectations.

Nothing, not even a coupon if you owned the original game. So I created a post on the discussion forum and it grew to be the largest post there, with multiple people wondering why they were treating the original fans this way. In return, they used the minimum possible excuse to ban me without warning for 30 days. All for calling a known Epic troll a shill. I won't be buying anything from this company in the future. They rode the fan's backs to get cash from Epic and sold us out.

Even now, I'm still getting that SU-PQR1603 error when the launcher wants to update. I have done everything on the EpicGames website support page, and on the Windows related page, and still get the same error. The only way I could get it to work was after watching a YouTube video and putting a small line of code in the EpicGames Launcher program line. If the developers of this game hadn't put so much money into the lame-ass wannabe rock music, and more into the game's development it would have surpassed Privateer and Freelancer. And as others have said the mouse and keyboard layout and interface really sucks, especially the mouse. Not to mention, but I will anyway, the fact that your autopilot key and the tractor beam key are the same one! It's a real pain when you have an item on the MFD you want to tractor in only to find yourself being autopiloted to some destination. These two functions should never be on the same key bind. I have turned down the mouse sensitivity so much, both on my mouse and in game, and it is still way too sensitive. Then I have to turn it back up after I exit the program. Plus you have to have a game pad in order to play the eight-ball otherwise you can't set up your shots, even then, these controls are also way too sensitive. Definitely will not buy anymore games through EpicGames. Expand

I was hungry for some old-style space combat. Unfortunately, this game plays worse than Wing Commander, you just need to point your reticle in the general direction of the enemy and let aim assist do the rest (you can also press a key in combat and the ship will automatically pursuit the enemy for you, but I REFUSE to do it - might as well let the PC play by itself).

Not that you would go very far without aim assist, because of the insane aerobatics the AI pulls, and especially because of balance. Instead of forcing you to carefully make every shot count, they give you auto aim and make you fight at least five enemy ships at a time, all of them spamming missiles one after the other. I'm pretty sure a single mission had me take out at least thirty enemies, including the random encounters on the way between waypoints. Especially bad are those instances where you reach your third mission goal (scan something, pick up special cargo, etc.) only to have five or six enemy ships instantly MATERIALIZE right behind you, taking out all of your shields in less than one second.
No tactics, just point towards an enemy and try to take it out as fast as possible. No planning a careful approach: enemies can instantly materialize anywhere. Ship upgrade? Yes, but pretty disappointing overall, especially since the enemies level up at least as fast as you. While their ships have outwardly remained the same, they take more shots before exploding now than they did at the start, and my firepower is 7-8 times as much. So there is absolutely no feeling of growing, improving, you actually become comparatively weaker the more you upgrade your ship. Compare this to the Starpoint Gemini approach, where you start with a very small ship and have to carefully avoid combat with most enemies, but as you improve, you capture bigger and better ships and eventually can duke it out with the strongest.
Better play something else, like the X games or the old Descent Freespace.
