A country with a long history, and once the most powerful nation in the world, Helman has experienced years of decay under a corrupt regime. A civil war, an invasion by a neighboring power, or perhaps both could happen at any moment. Amidst fears of such turmoil by no small portion of the population, a man who was once exiled from Helman rises to action.

Years prior, Prince Patton Misnarge fought to prove his worth by invading another country, but failed and disappeared from the public eye. Swearing to take his country back, Patton trained and returned a strong and admirable man. He sought to make use of the peerless champion he met on his journeys to fight to revolutionize Helman. Yes, the key to his plan was to get the assistance of the strongest and most brutal warrior, Rance.

Rance IX: The Helmanian Revolution is a good recommendation for fans of erotic games that don’t mind non-con content. Though its simplistic battle arenas may be underwhelming for veterans of strategic games, it’s a fantastic example of the Rance series’ compelling world-building and steamy scenes.

For those who have never played this game, the titularRance is one of the longest running RPG franchises to feature the same protagonist. For those who have never played this game, the titular Rance is a villain who is as strong as most other RPG protagonists. What makes him a villain is that he enjoys rape and has no remorse for those he rapes. He also kills allies (in the past game) or at least seriously attempts to kill allies if they think they will interfere in his harem. He is absolutely a narcissist and the whole crux of the game is everyone around him trying to feed his massive ego because he is so powerful that he can topple nations.

One of the biggest flaws of this game is the rudimentary UI which looks like something out of a PlayStation 1 game. This is an SRPG which, unlike its predecessors, isn't an absolute grind fest. Each of the characters are varied and have their own set of one/two skills. You gain skill points in which you distribute to specific stats to suit your own playstyle. There are 7 main heroines but most of the other females do have at least one sex scene. It's awesome that some maps let you use your entire roster or almost your entire roster (which can be up to 18 units) I wish the sex scenes with the 7 main heroines were more varied. Monkey orbs are used to see sex scenes and it's a mistake that you can only hold a max of 4.

This story is a straightforward and well told one: you are trying to overthrow the evil Helmanian government. All the story beats and foreshadowing focus around that thesis and it does a great job of it; no super out of left field, poorly written plot twists that you see in some other Japanese developed RPG's. Overall, if you love SRPG's, rape, and being able to play as a villain instead of a goody two shoes, then this game is worth trying out.

The visual novel story telling is a pain in the ass full of side characters and non stop talking , you will just auto skip everything, if they animated it, would be a mediocre anime. Rance is the same OP rapist as always, every sex scene is a rape them until they like it usual dumb hentai bs. Expand
