Oct 9, 2011Perfect game for me, The really like shooter from id software. Graphic are really good, probably one of the best game this year. The sound is good too. I wait to see next game created with that engine.
-
Oct 9, 2011I opened this account just to give this a big fat juicy zero...
it would have scored 3 based on content alone but it gets:
-1 for making me update both the game and the drivers twice just to be able to play it, -1 for happily taking my money for an unfinished product and
-1 for a pathetic port.
= 0
i really really have to stop pre-ordering games... -
Oct 9, 2011Totally don't agree there ! On my pc the game look very good (and i'm a video game artist). The engine is fast 60 fps everytime. The steam patch of this morning is the saviour !
Thanks ID ! The ghost town and authority cell are just Id style ! I'm loving it !
I'm really waitting for the HD texture pack ! This while bring 1 point more from 9 to 10 by my side. -

Oct 9, 2011Bad ugly and full of bugs console port. Optimization: 0, and no visual options.
A piece of worthless junk, for sure. It would be an insult to spend money on buying this.
Thanks Carmack for this nightmare. -

Oct 9, 2011Everything is the black squares! I wasted all weekend on this ** tried everything but no patch, no driver helped!
This game is a greatest fail of this year I am not going 2 buy Skyrim because Bethesda screwed up; pirates are so lucky they didn't play for none working game! -
Oct 9, 2011latest nvidia drivers don't help, screen tearing and now game freezes so bad i have to reboot to close application. Sad to say but Dark Souls is calling me Rage is a bust do not buy unless they decide to support PC again. My last ID PC purchase GG.

Oct 9, 2011Extremely buggy, even with latest tuned drivers. This game was so overhyped, yet turned out to be a borderlands clone, but less enjoyable. Half my time was spent trying to get the game to run. Sorry Id, I won't be wasting another gaming dollar on your consolized ports.
-

Oct 9, 2011Technically awesome (if you know how to tweak some config file) but that's all. Weapons are boring, driving is boring, mission are boring. The game is boring, and short.

Oct 9, 2011I love this game, an improbable picture, fascinating battles and many other things. And who isn't happy with that, I recommend to buy such games, instead of to download them with torents, and after that to complain of glitches. More shortly, it is one of the best shooters on PC for me. All good luck and pleasant game :)
-
Oct 9, 2011Yes well totally dissapointing. Graphically yes it looks nice, in some instances but the physics, game play, story line, AI and overall feel of the game just misses by a mile.
All you have to say is Borderlands with better graphics however missing every aspect of borderlands that made it a good game.
I would say nice try FAIl, but really its just a screaming FAILURE all road. -

Oct 9, 2011I like this game. I can't put my finger on why 'cause I can see som issues regarding graphics and some bugs, but overall it's just fun ! Perhaps because it has the speed and simplicity I missed in fallout 3 and though it is a simple action game, still holds some RPG theme. I don't know. I do know that I think my money is well spend on this game...

Oct 8, 2011When it doesn't crash (1 out of 3 attempts for me - I really tried), the fights are dull and the outcome seems to have little relation to what you did during that fight. The weapons have a very weak feel, which for me is a dealbreaker for this type of game.

Oct 8, 2011ID failed his project on PC.
They blame drivers that caused such problems as run-time reloading textures, crashes. But i think they should blame themselves.
few words about the game. boring and I've seen already this features in another games. I don't even realise WHY it is 21+ GB? -
Oct 8, 2011Worst game ever released on PC I just dont know where to start with this garbage screw you ID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Oct 8, 2011Terrible Game such a waste of money so sorry i bought this horrible textures terrible graphics texture popping, developers blaming 3rd party drivers instead of themselves. Very linear not open world at all invisible walls no stray paths never would buy id again

Oct 8, 2011The game works well, all maxed out 60fps, etc, but the textures looks ugly as hell and its all buggy. This feels like an unfinished product. An insult to those of us who been waiting 5 years.
ID Tech 5 is absolutely horrible, even Doom 3 looks better than this.
Please stay away from this horrible abomination, don't make the same mistake i did. Save your $60 bucks and spend it in some other game. -
Oct 8, 2011A spectacular failure. The game is saddled with an engine that looks great out doors but turns into a pixelated blurry mess when in doors, with textures quality so low that I haven't seen the like of them since that late 90s. Great game if never walk out of your car. Horrific blurry nightmare if you do.

Oct 8, 2011this game is so poorly developed that makes me wanna punch my computer screen in RAGE!!!! first of all the graphics are so overrated, they look like a 5 year ild game, wait, they look like a 7 year old game, its just so unexcusable. All of the media hype about the new engine was **** Save your money, trust me.
-
Oct 8, 2011Deer id
What the hell do you think you are you doing!?
Such a bug ridden poorly though out game. Would love to say oh at least it looks amazing but it looks like SH17!
Get your act together or better yet get steam to give me a refund... -

Oct 8, 2011Unable to even start the game on my high-end PC no matter the settings or driver versions. I would never have expected this kind of failure from Id-software but i guess they are just as bad as the rest of the video game industry.

Oct 8, 2011Never seen such a high profile game get so little support, the amount of effort and tweaks and hacks to get it running are pathetic. And to top it all of it still crashes when ever I pause the game. Great work id.
Even for the little time I did get it to play the texture pop in is really bad to say that is one of the selling points of the game. -
Oct 8, 2011this is awful. I have a pc that can on paper run rage without problems. but i have most times maximal 14 fps. and there is a lot of bugs, bugs and bugs. Textures are for **** and the worst problem is that the game works perfectly well on consoles! DONT BUY THIS GAME FOR PC!
-
Oct 8, 2011Completely unplayable garbage. There is no reason why an ugly, outdated graphical game like this with zero physics should run so horribly on machines that eat Crysis, Witcher 2, Red Orchestra 2, Metro 2033, etc for breakfast -- all of which have twice as good of graphics as Rage. Carmack failed. ID Tech 5 is trash and is laughable at best.
-
Oct 8, 2011This game plays like a bad console port, I have been trying to get it working since launch and when it finally works the texture pop-ins are horrendous and the game crashes every 20 seconds.
I've seen some bad launches but this is inexcusable. Stay away from this game. -

Oct 8, 2011As an OPEN WORLD game it fails, because its not OPEN. dont let the critics fool you. There are no dialogs, texture glitches everywhere, bad graphical config (no options), and a **** of graphical bugs. (screen tearing , no vsync enabling, etc)
This game is bad, its a bad port and a bad game. Nice graphics (bad texture bugs) , nice music , nice ambient, but hideous gameplay. -

Oct 7, 201110/10. This is the best shooter I've played in a long long time. I have never had this much pure fun factor since the 90's shooters. Don't let people in here that are too stupid to get it working right ruin a chance at enjoy this game. Did it have driver issues? Yep. Will it be fixed? Yep. Still, the game itself is GOTY this year unless Skyrim knocks it down. No more generic CoD / BF games here.

Oct 7, 2011Another shameful console port from a major developer, unworthy of PC release. Stay clear of this one. Blurry textures from the 90s, no graphics options to speak of, Press ENTER to start, consolified user interface, and so fort. All the major red flags are here, this is a game for consoles and not for PC.
-
Oct 7, 2011simply unplayable doesn't matter what kind of comp you have. the technical problems are destroying whole pleasure from the game. Until it will be patch it is not wort any money.
-
Oct 7, 2011ID and Bethesda just spit in the face of PC enthusiasts by releasing Rage in it's initial state. Even after the more seemingly able community created various "workarounds" and "fixes" Rage is still riddled with a limited console based menu, lagging input, low frame rates (even on higher end PCs), texture popping, and various other visual bugs.
Shame on ID. -
Oct 7, 2011
-
Oct 7, 2011You should know something is wrong with your game when the best parts of it are secret Retro-graphic looking areas alluding to your old... good games. Unfortunately ID didn't and we got this masterpiece of turd that makes gamers.... RAGE.

Oct 7, 2011
-
Oct 7, 2011All technical issues aside, this is a very bad game, poor and outdated level design, a fake sand box which is in fact more linear than any "scripted game". Mega-texture is a joke, it replaces most modern geometry by low resolution and terribly compressed hand drawn textures. Everything looks fake from the gamedesign itself to the way it looks. Carmack can't hide it no more, he is an has been.

Oct 7, 2011Completely unplayable on release. Even with the various forum fixes and the new drivers. A huge let down by ID, one of the developers I still respected. My specs are far from minimum, oh well back to DX:HR at least they somewhat tested the game on PC before shipping.....
DO NOT BUY THIS UNTIL IT IS PATCHED AT LEAST -
Oct 7, 2011I just wanted the people who gave an honest low rating to know that I wont be purchasing this game following the many poor user reviews. Clearly there is a massive skew with the magazinesite reviews and the experience users are seeing. So thanks to those who saved me some money. And to ID, these reviews matter.

Oct 6, 2011An AMD 6970 should make quick work of games, even those optimized for Nvidia cards. The texture pop up is so damn obvious, it should've been fixed in EARLY beta! Do not buy this game until they have updated the game to a proper release candidate.

Oct 6, 2011After Paying for the game and then not being able to get past the opening vid, i have tried all the fixes recommended and still cant even play the game, CTD as soon as opening vid ends if you try to change any setting you get a immediate CTD once you hit accept.
When will Developers learn if it doesn't ship in a working condition people wont buy anything else from them ever. -
Oct 6, 2011
-
Oct 6, 2011Be warned before purchasing this for the PC. Very buggy, screen tearing, textures not loading, CTD, freezing, stuttering, ect.
I pre ordered this game thinking that big names like iD and Bethesda would for sure release a working product, maybe a few bugs expected but not so many making the game unplayable. I have requested a refund. DO NOT BUY!!! -

PC Games (Russia)Nov 23, 2011A pretty, fast and aggressive shooter, striving in vain to be something more. [December 2011, p.62]
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Nov 15, 2011Far from perfect Rage somehow is has fun post-apocalyptic action where the principles are set –fortunately – bit different than in other games of FPS genre. [Nov 2011]

CD-ActionNov 9, 2011It seems id Software is still living in its golden days and failed to notice that times have changed since Doom and Quake. Rage is just a decent, linear, old school shooter combined awkwardly with an arcade racing game. The world is only 'kinda openish' and the story must have been written by the coders while they were compiling the alpha version. The game looks great though – if you're lucky enough to have the it run smoothly and without technical issues that haunt the PC version. [November 2011, p.46]
