Jun 3, 2025It’s been a while since I’ve had this much fun in a cooperative focused title and I think POPUCOM has found a great balance between difficulty and player choice without sticking around for more than it has to. Throw in a lovely presentation and you’ve got a fantastic cooperative puzzle-platformer that can be enjoyed by all.

Jun 2, 2025POPUCOM is a beautiful and fun game that feels just right with the cooperative gameplay that adds to the charm of the colorful world with every turn. The first area’s puzzles teach you about what’s to come, while still adding just enough challenge to not frustrate the user early on, but prepare you for later. This was a wonderful surprise to play, and I can’t wait to spend some time with it to continue. The story is charming and cute, and the cooperative play gives me the same type of joy and puzzle-based challenge that I felt when playing the co-op mode in Portal 2. Hypergryph has a hit with this game, and I can’t wait to see what they have to come.

While the party mode lacks lasting appeal, that shortcoming is quickly overshadowed by the enjoyment of cooperative play. If you're a fan of co-op games, POPUCOM should easily meet your expectations for the genre.

Jun 29, 2025So while it’s rough around the edges in some ways, and a little confusing in others, the core of Popucom is a fun, creative, and thoughtful co-op challenge that combines a set of ideas you don’t see put together often. I mean, if I asked for an example of Puzzle Bobble as a shooter, I doubt I’d get many answers. Add the other gimmicks on top (I love that kitty UFO drone so much, folks), and you have a compelling set of challenges that ramps up intelligently and in ways that always feel surprising and fun to solve. I mostly just wish it was easier to pick up and play!

With its blend of different gameplay elements such as 3D platforming, puzzles, Match-3, and gunplay, it's surely an experience that will test your teamwork with your player two to the nth level. While there is no singleplayer mode as its mechanics are designed for two players or more, everything is best experienced the more the merrier.
