Pool Paradise is one of the best budget games in years. This is an addictive, near-faultless pool simulation, with the various games played in the surrounds of an idyllic tropical beach resort.
-
The challenges offered in terms of beating your opponents were well tapered; the more you play the better you get and winning some dosh and opening the sub games, which were equally enjoyable, really topped the experience.
-
In the greater scheme of things, this is not barrier-breaking software, but it is crisp, clean fun at a budget price.
-
Edge MagazineFor console owners used to having to fiddle with power sliders in order to orchestrate their shots, it brings a nigh-on edible element of tangibility to the experience... An accomplished bundle. [May 2004, p.109]
-
There may be those who will find Pool Paradises strange setting and overall eccentric nature in conflict with what they would consider a realistic or acceptable pool game experience. However, for those who dont mind a bit of zaniness mixed in with their billiards fun, Pool Paradise is worth a look.
-
Then there's the dodgy AI that produces identical breaks if you play the same character again, and super-aggressive play from the big boys with not even a nod to a safety game. All of which adds up to a rushed and amateurish job, albeit one that's surprisingly addictive.
