Recently reopened following a seismic retrofit, the Inventory is once again the hottest gathering place for video game characters to unwind after a long day on the job. Drop in to play No Limit Texas Hold’em with four familiar faces: Max, Strong Bad, Tycho, and The Heavy.

Poker Night combines the strategy of Texas Hold’em with the punchy banter of four famous characters from the Sam & Max, Homestar Runner, Penny Arcade, and Team Fortress franchises.

Released in 2010 and removed from sale nine years later, Poker Night was an experimental casual game from the studio renowned for episodic series like Sam & Max and The Walking Dead. This new version has been lovingly remastered by Skunkape Games, a small team of former Telltale employees who worked on the original.

Skunkape Games have remastered and re-listed Poker Night, given it a fresh lick of paint, reintroduced it's most important feature and all that at a decent price. They've truly gone all-in.

The charm of the characters and the laidback presentation of the inventory itself open up for a very relaxing experience. While it’s not quite a comfy game, it’s a surprisingly close one. While more game modes and styles of poker could have added depth to the expeirence, Poker Night at the Inventory remains as easy to fall in love with as it did when it was first released. Hopefully, this remaster draws enough attention for a follow-up that remakes the second game — or lays the groundwork for a new sequel that adds more gameplay elements to flesh out the underlying strength of the gameplay design.

Poker Night at the Inventory is fun enough while the fun lasts, but Texas Hold ’em can only hold your interest for so long.
