Furthermore, they lied to the community by saying that they will never introduce micro-transaction to the game (they said this few times, also said that "you should be ashamed for thinking that"), frequent DLCs are already there to make money from the game, micro-transaction system is a straight copy from CS:GO (weapon skin, item that completely resembles weapon case (safe) and keys (drills), update announcement page (guy sitting in front of skinned weapons), and weapon inspection), I have many more to say but I don't want to waste any more time for this idiotic developers so I will stop here.

This used to be one of the best coop games out there - fun, challenging and a blast to pay....

Ruined because of microtransactions despite promises to the contrary and the every expanding release of DLC

I really pains me to write this review. This used to be such a good game. I am not sure exactly where it was when the developers lost their way.

The game used to be about 4 guys robbing banks and stores and a variety of of other heists. Then they started introducing character after character that had no conceivable relationship to the game and some just blatant marketing tie ins (ie. John Wick from the movie).

They started pumping out DLC for the game (4.99 a pop) that included characters, inferior weapons, masks, melee weapons no one uses. Granted people thought some of these weapons would be cool....but A Rocket launcher, a Flamethrower, Bow and Arrow, A Vulcan Mini Gun, World War II crap and now Ninja Items...really?

The few new maps that have come out have been riddled with bugs and have come at a premium price usually around 6.99 and that was for a single map, a few new pointless achievements, some cosmetics like masks and of course usually a few more melee weapons no one uses.

There are still countless bugs in the game that have never been fixed since its launch yet new pointless DLC keeps getting pumped out.

Then the kicker for me came when they decided to make money in the game absolutely pointless. It used to cost a lot of money to go up into the Infamy levels past your first 100. They decided after the first 5 you no longer had to pay for it. So people quit looting anything except what was necessary to complete mission to get it over as quick as possible to get exp to level up.

The game has lost its way and is nothing but a cash cow for the developers....it almost feels like they have contests to see how pathetic of a DLC they can make and then take bets on how many people will actually buy it.

They promised to address many issues like the Infamy System and others after the community complained loudly. They never did and their promises now more than ever just look like they were trying to shut the community up.

They have added micro transactions now after promising from the beginning this would never happen and again are now "promising" to address the concerns at a later date. I think the community is finally done being fooled by empty promises.

Disappointing turn of events in a otherwise stellar game. Microtransactions previously promised as not ever going to be in the game now added. What a shame.

I could repeat what ever other reviewer is saying right here, but I'll just sum it up in one simple word; Microtransactions. Payday 2 truly is a fun game, but is sadly ruined by Overkills hunger for cash.

Payday 2 used to be a great game from a great company now turned to a train-wreck.
The long awaited Infamy 2.0 update was a huge disappointment, if not a failure, but Overkill still seemed to care about their community so it was bearable. But Crimefest 2015 is unforgivable.

Crimefest is (was) a tradition: the whole community worked together to complete objectives, showing their love for the game, and Overkill always rewarded it with FREE content and improvement. With Crimefest 2015 the community got microtransaction. Yeah, that kind of plague that Almir himself said would've never reached Payday 2.
"So? CS:GO is fine with them, why are you so upset?". Fair question. Point is that this system isn't just a cosmetic bonus because weapons skin (which aren't extras: they replace the usual, free rewards after a successful heist) give BONUSES, turning this game into a pay2win. Also, as if it weren't enough already, the microtransaction came with a complete rework of weapon stats, which made them completely unbalanced and broken, thus forcing the players to pay for skins to have their loved gun viable again.
This kind of disloyalty to the fan-base should not be tolerate nor supported; do not buy this game

Used to be good until they sold out, John Wick DLC? Alesso DLC? and now micro-transactions.

Stay away from this garbage, they'll just pump out DLC after DLC without caring about the game at all.

Wanna take BOW on heist?? Go get. Fork?? Flag?? Here you go.
Need more characters?? Ok, take stereotypical bad Russian, Yakuza, Irish chick, John f-ing Wick. Nuff said.
    Don't buy it. Seriously.

Playing since 2013, now it is full of bugs and the new heists lag. Not to mention that developers had to rush microsanctions that bugs become uncorrected and very low new content quality....but they're for free so I guess OVK did not bother.

In the CRIMEFEST updates patches from day 1 remains buggy, content being rushed out without being tested. Like today I was playing with my friends and with using bipod. I was downed but when revived I was out of nowhere.

This used to be one of my favorite games, at least before Crimefest 2015. Overkill has stopped caring for its fanbase and begun to nickle and dime it. Do not buy this game, do not support this type of behavior, do not support Overkill.

I really loved this game. It is a nice concept and was a lot of fun to play with friends.

More and more though, DLCs started to break the game, especially the perks you got from weapon DLCs; at least imho. Now, with this latest debacle of introducing microtransactions, something we were promised they wouldn't do (shame on you for lying to us, Overkill!), I have deinstalled the game. I

I've spent in total about 1200 hours on this game, loved it to death, attempt and finished every mission including DLC missions in stealth/loud/coop/solo. It's just so fun, so so fun, until they add Micro-transactions, at that point, I quit. They promised "No Microtransactions" then what happened? They slapped us in the face with that and put out microtransactions.

This company has been toying with the players via the CRIMEFEST event, one easliy see that. Microsanctions are released on day 1, then further free content follows on other days and the community would forget and support OVK even if they've been doing dishonest (lying) bussiness.

This game has always had its faults, with massive amounts of paid DLC, but Overkill Studios has again and again promised that no matter what, Payday 2 would never see the slightest hint of microtransactions.

Guess honesty is not something Overkill practices given that it was just announced.Going the CSGO way of releasing skins in safes that can only be unlocked by using drills that cost 2.5 euro/dollars and have to be bought specifically from Overkill. This is despicable, not only because of the previous promises of no microtransactions, but also because these skins unlike in CSGO make weapons BETTER.

So basically now anyone that wants to have the best weapons in the game needs to pay Overkill and hope to get the right skins, wich is dependant on alot of luck, but also once they get them run around the game with weapons that looks like childrens toys.

I will not tell anyone NOT to buy this game, that is a choice people have to make on their own, but I will advice everyone considering it to read up on the events of Crimefest 2015. The lies and deceit from the developer prove that they hesitate at no turn to screw over their customers if it makes them another buck. It makes me sad to see the game go this way, since I have played well over 1000 hours and had alot of fun, and now it has come to an end and the company is even trying to tell everyone that "it is a reward, you should be happy that we are **** you in the ass without lube using a barb-wire wrapped baseball-bat", although I will admit that they might have used slightly different wording.

Hopefully the staggering amounts of negative criticism from the community makes Overkill realize their misstakes before it is far to late, because at this rate the game will soon be dead.

PayDay 2 is one of the nicest surprises of the year. Overkill Software understands the atmosphere of gangster movies and wisely improves these pieces of gameplay, that might have been disappointing in the first game. The sequel is better in almost every way - you can play a thief and enjoy good character development and shooting systems. I really hope, that PayDay 3 will be even better.
