Fun while it lasted. Completly destroyed with dlc's. If you payed for all of them individualy it would be like ~120$ but thats not all. The modding community is left behind because of the lack of the developers. Overall don't support this game and Overkill in general. They **** up so hard. Expand

I've bought that game and all DLCs (around 30 of them) and what I've got for that? Weapons were nerfed and now you have to gamble with 2.5 Euro safes to get stats back. Yes weapon skins now have stats, some of them are really OP.

The game is fun but DO NOT BUY IT in its current state as the developers have recently added microtransactions and while that may seem like it doesn't affect you, the microtransactions and DLC of over $100 USD have created a Pay to Win system that is just trying to take more of your money. Steer clear of this title, there are plenty of other co-op games that will treat you better as a consumer.

Overkill created an amazing game, one of the only horde based co-op shooters out there.

But they decided it needed Pay2Win micro-transactions on top of the massive mountain of DLC, even after they promised not to, so they can shove it.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME IF YOU VALUE YOUR WALLET, get something worth your money, like candy crush or a crippling gambling addiction.

These bits of dlc where were its pay to win nature began and we didn't see it, now we are faced with micro transactions and here we are ripping the game to shreds. The developers are ignoring the community and are saying that this is good and what we want. When everyone is saying no, we don't want this. The disrespect that we as a community are being given by the devs is utterly disgusting and foul. Yet according to them the micro transactions are working as intended and this means they are still making money. The main dev even said 'Shame on you' when asked about will this game have microtransactions, now he says 'players seem to be loving it'. So as they are ignoring us we will drop every rating we can and run this games reputation into the ground, because they wont stop trying to take our money and treating us like dirt. Expand

Buggy micro-transaction filled mess. So many lies and broken promises from the devs.
Promised that there would never be micro-transactions but added them anyway.

This game has been ruined by pure greed on the developers and their refusal to listen to to the community. Excessive DLC and Micro transactions. Stay away. I will never give another penny to these developers.

With this system you can loot a safe as a reward after a heist. To open the safe you need to buy a drill for 2.50$ or wit a lot you can loot one every week.
The major problem with this system is that the skin gained that way can give you a bonus to your weapon. It range from a small bonus to a massive advantage.
To top it all Overkill "rebalanced" the weapon and nerfed a lot of them. But that has nothing to do with the fact they want us to buy skins.
The game is fun but is FUBAR right now and a lot needs to be done to fix the situation and gain back the trust of a lot core players.
My verdict : Avoid and look for other co-op FPS.

It was a fine game when the Devs were not completely greedy. Now it's just another Pay2Win game that will give unfair advantage to those whales going RNG like a freakin' slot machine with microtransactions. It seems that Konami teached them to HIT THE LEVER!

I am so disgusted by the recent decision making of the developer, that i had to create a metacritic account to rate this game.

A year ago I would have recommended Payday 2. A month ago the game was still on neutral standing. After massive addition of cross-over marketing disguised as DLC, Overkill now added Pay-2-Win micro-transactions. They believe the addition is a positive thing and

Now what they've basically said to their community is that they don't care about them or their opinion on what they're doing with their micro transactions, which I should mention, actually affects in game stats and effectively renders the game pay to win, and I haven't even said anything about the massive amounts of DLC they push on the community, anyways, they've also implied that their veteran fan base is irrelevant now, and that the new players they're trying to reel in with this micro transaction will give them more money than the veterans will, and therefore the new base matters. They literally could not be any more detached from their community, they have a horrible PR department, they added a pay to win system via micro transactions, they lied to their player base, and ruined the game. They could not care less than their players, this is some Ubisoft tier stuff. Expand

As a person with over a 1000 hours in Payday 2 and owning all the DLC for the game, I used to like it and support the developer Overkill Software...

But now, they care about money more than making a good enjoyable game.

They themselves at one point said "BUT remember - GREED KILLS!"... Too bad they seem to have forgotten that...

Since the developers which promised no microtransaction added weapon skins with stat bonus into the game and ignore players' opinion, I don't think I should recommend a game which the developers cared about money more than the game itself or their players. There has been so many examples of a game from developers like that before, and it mostly never goes well.

Then, when the big annual event comes around, they, being ridiculously out of touch with their consumer base, nerf everything but pistols into worthlessness, and, for their "free" update, give you such huge, groundbreaking things as a jump animation (2 years after release...) and microtransactions (which they promised it would never have, but it now "needs" so they can fund their bigger team to keep crapping out low-effort DLC nobody actually wants).

    Avoid.

I went as far as to permanently delete it. Let this game die, and let its death stand as a warning to all those publishers and developers who wish to abuse their customers.

After an onslaught of arguably pay to win DLC packs, Overkill had the brilliant idea of adding microtransactions to the game, not new features that the community has been asking for FOR YEARS (and would probably gladly pay for), but microtransactions! Not including the fact they've proven countless times that they don't really listen to their community nor do they care about what they think, replying with apologies after they make a mistake, promising to look into stuff and then not doing anything (Infamy 2.0) or just straight up not delivering promised content (Completely Overkill Pack); people at Overkill clearly take their jobs seriously.

What started as a fun journey of robbing banks has become a broken mess. OVERKILL has displayed repeated disregard for their player base, milking them for cash, breaking promises, and pulling bait & switch advertising.

Their latest update introduced microtransactions (which OVERKILL swore they would never do, and chastised anyone who thought otherwise) a la CS:GO and TF2 crates.

However, these are not just pure cosmetic items, they give stat boosts, and may not even be for a weapon you own (over half the weapons now are DLC items).

In its current state, I cannot recommend new players buy Payday 2, let alone any of its copious DLC.

    Bien hecho Overkill.

PayDay 2 is one of the nicest surprises of the year. Overkill Software understands the atmosphere of gangster movies and wisely improves these pieces of gameplay, that might have been disappointing in the first game. The sequel is better in almost every way - you can play a thief and enjoy good character development and shooting systems. I really hope, that PayDay 3 will be even better.
