This is the first and last product I'll buy from Overkill Softwares. I can no longer trust them after the screw-up of promises. They promised no microtransactions but added it. They promised all content of CRIMEFEST was free. it wasn't.

    First and last.

I have over 1100 hours in this game, and i love it to death. Unfortunately, they added microtransactions during a free bonus giveway week and screwed us. They promised no microtransactions in writing 2 years ago and now they break it. The game is unbalanced, buggy, and now unplayable essentially. A MINIGUN makes you run faster now.

    >100$ worth of DLCs
    >Insane power creep with DLC weapons
    >Bugs that remain since the freaking pre-release beta from 2013
    >Horrendous communication skills from the developers
    >Goddamn microtransactions, with weapon skins that have stat changes 2 years into the game's life cycle

Once was a good game, then Starbreeze got the gold fever.

Overkill lied, cheated and executed cheap business tactics, all for the money. Great game but experience has been ruined by developers. Overkill claimed that they are " discussing this problems with our staffs and community members", but I personally think they are considering whether to impale us deeper with their blade of treachery and deceit.

Bought the game, all the DLC's that came out month after month knowing that It's fair and now MICROTRANSACTIONS. Play, play, play and get a "reward" that you have to buy keys for half the price of a DLC to unlock a RANDOM skin that gives you some extra stats. And on top of that if the weapon is a DLC one, you have to buy that DLC to use it. Worse company than Ubi and EA combined.

The developer, OVERKILL Software, broke their promises and bent the community over backwards for the worst possible thing: Microtransactions that actually alter stats in game. Payday 2: Global Offensive

Overkill straight up lied to their customers and destroyed a once great game and destroyed an entire community overnight. They deserve what is coming to them. Just go look at the steam forums for it it's a train wreck. This is coming from someone with nearly 900 hours in the game. They need to remove the day one update from crime fest.

While no one is being forced to buy the newly introduced "Drills" to unlock "safes" for a randomly generated weapon skin with the potential to improve a weapons stats, it is the final straw for me. If I am going to buy a game, I want an upfront cost for quality content. The fact that the game developers think that they can rip me off by giving me tiny morsels of content that i can only unlock by paying $2.50, which can accumulate into much more, is unacceptable. If I buy a game, I expect to get the whole game, not just an opportunity to pay more money. Shame on the developers for taking this path of greed and dishonesty. If they would simply add "drills" as random reward drops then I would have no problem, but at the moment they are a ripoff. I strongly advise against purchasing this game or any of it's DLCs. At the moment it is nothing but a scam. Expand

Would have rated this pretty good a week ago. But Overkill has completely betrayed everyones trust after adding micro transactions to the game despite releasing $5 (near-mandatory due to power creep) DLC every month AND after saying they would never add micro transactions on more than one occasion.

I cannot support this and am expressing my opinion of the game and it's developers here.

I cannot support this and am expressing my opinion of the game and it's developers here. During this "Crimefest" update, Overkill has nerfed most of the weapons to near uselessness. Guess how we get them back to usable level? Pay-2-win skins. Yup. Not only that, but many of the content that we as users have to work day and night to earn during this event would be included in some form of a paid DLC if we didn't accomplish the objectives.

Really disappointed at how far they have fallen since releasing Payday The Heist. I might still give that game a good rating.

Since the last update from the 15th October 2015, the game now contains paid skins (you can't loot) which give an unfair advantage. I seriously cannot recommend that game or the publisher/developer behind it. As you may have read they plainly lied to everyone who bought the game and it's not the first time. They promised, before the game's release, that they would never do such a thing. Yet here we are, two years later, and the person who made that same promise has broken it. They also promised another 2 years of support, until 2017. How can we trust Overkill to deliver on this after what they've done in such a short amount of time?

Before the crimefest update we had an average peak of players at around 14,000, no that the game is free for a week we have around 20,000 people at peak and im all for introducing new players, but manipulating these players should not be acceptable, for example the new safe that came out on the first day of crimefest (pretty much csgo cases) are one of overkill's strategies to try and gain money through microtransactions if a new player opens they have a chance to get a skin that is part of a dlc, which then they have to buy that dlc to use the skin. Us veteran and long time players are getting more concerned that this is the end of the road, i have seen multiple people uninstalling the game as they will not support a comany that is lying and twisting there words, yep thats right they said all of the content during crimefest is "FREE" yet they twist their words and give us free content but the access to the content is locked unless you pay a small fees of $2.49 to gain access to this content which should be "free", the latest event has completely ruined the game, i am seeing less and less of my friends that use to play payday in-game, this is the downfall of Payday and will also cause their further games to be unsuccessful, we are still yet to get a full statement of why they released microtransactions when they promised not to. Overkill i actually hope this is not the end to be honest, but you have made a lot of bad business decisions that we have forgiven you for but this is the last straw, i will probably still play the game as it is one of a kind, but you really need to find your footing and start being more serious about your fanbase because last time i checked one of the main rules of game development is never treat your fanbase as a money printing press. Welcome to Payday 2, land of DLC's and microtransactions upon microtransactions. I put in over 1000 hours into this game and believed in OverKill. Now our reward for being loyal customers is the option to pay more money for what was promised as free content. I was a big fan of this game for the longest time because it was the first game in the series that I solely devoted countless hours to learning the in's and out's of each heist, weapon, etc. The keyword in this statement is was. This game has honestly become a game of, "if you don't buy into it; you are going to be behind". I can wholeheartedly understand the conceptual idea behind making DLC, as a developer you want your game to succeed with the hopes of new content that keeps the formula fresh; the way that the devs are going about this though is the wrong way. So where do I begin?

Let's talk Crimefest.. the community performs community tasks with the promises of free content throughout those 10 days. How does the community get treated? A change to the metagame and microtransactions. Change is inevitable when you create anything because you want whatever it is you are creating, to attract a wider audience while staying relevant. The changes thus far have not been good. I'm not even at the mad at the fact that we were lied to about microtransactions; I'm mad at the fact that the basic concept is becoming a part in the meta if you want your character to stay relevant while playing. We get the other side of the argument, "Oh, well this game isn't PvP.. it's PvE, so why complain?" Regardless if this game is PvP or PvE, skins should stay a niche market and not become a necessity. Why do games like CS:GO and TF2 work well with their economies? It's because the skins are there mostly for cosmetic purposes only! And how do we acquire said skins? By buying "drills" or a marketplace, there is no option to use the Offshore Account that you work towards or the option to earn a drill by a very low % card drop after completing a heist. The meta has changed now to where you either pay in and gamble for the chance to get a skinned weapon which mind you, have stat boosts or you use broken weaponry thanks to the influx of skins and the lovely weapon balancing that has been implemented. This is only one complaint out of many and it's upsetting to say the least because I've held this game with such high regards despite the "dodgy DLC model" that kept rearing its head out every few weeks as an attempt to have me throwing my money at my monitor.

It's been a fun year playing this game; I can only recommend it to either someone who loves paying to play despite the price of the core game plus the "mandatory DLCs" or to someone who is masochistic enough to defend these practices. It's not all bad though, this made for a fun Uninstallation Simulator

CS: GO was a relatively cheap game, and the weapon skins they gave were merely cosmetic. Payday 2, however, has its crates (called safes) drop within another random loot drop system that occurs after beating a mission (Heist.). So now you must hope to randomly get a safe after a heist, buy a key (Drill), and hope you get a random skin with a random stat boost for a random weapon you may or may not have! If you do not want the safe, too bad! You got a random reward you cannot do anything with but take up inventory space, or sell online to people addicted to optimization/gambling! These economies, even when acceptable, always feel like they exploit people with gambling addictions, and on the most case they do. The people who habitually pay for microtransactions in order to speed the game along, gamble, or "get the best loot" are called cash cows, and are exploited often, and it sickens me to see companies take advantage of people, even if it is optional. I cannot recommend this fun game until it reconsiders its practices. Expand

Lied to their community by promising to never include microtransactions, and also by introducing said microtransactions under the pretense of it being a "free reward" for the community to enjoy. On top of that, said microtransactions give straight-up stat boosts.

I haven't played Payday regularly since the Western DLC earlier this year and I was hoping that Crimefest, with the new free content, would be good enough for me to want to get back into Payday 2. Instead, Crimefest has left a sour taste in my mouth, and, like a lot of other serious players, I do not think I will be returning unless this whole thing is fixed.

I bought all of the DLC on their release days up to the Western Pack, and even bought the $20 Completely Overkill Pack so that I could support Overkill, paying easily over $100 on this game. Hell, I even thought it would be cool to work at Overkill at one point because they were actually good and made solid content for one of my favorite game franchises. Were the heaps of DLC not enough? Did they run low on cash to burn in the furnace? Did Starbreeze just want to see how far they could push it? Nobody knows, seeing as neither Overkill or Starbreeze have made a statement regarding the update yet, saying that they are going to wait until Crimefest is over.

With the recent events making all of the pieces line up, from Simon Viklund and Ulf Andersson leaving, to the failure/cashgrab that was Hype Train, I feel ashamed that I was a part of it, and angry for being betrayed by a studio I trusted. Bad business practices, broken promises and money-grubbing cashgrabs is what we get in exchange for that trust.

Please, don't allow business practices like this to happen, especially in a game that costs money to play and has over 100 dollars of DLC. Don't buy Payday 2, even if it is cheap on Steam.

So here's the thing. I have 2,000 hours in this game. I have a Youtube channel of me doing Death Wish heists solo without bots. I did the Tabula Rasa challenge solo without bots, unmodded weapons, before Grinder. You could say I loved this game at one point.

That time is gone. Overkill has repeatedly broken promises. They directly said before release "We will not ever have microtransactions." And yesterday, October 15, 2015, they added Microtransactions. This game is not Free to Play with microtransactions. This game is not cheap with microtransactions. This game has a reasonably priced base game with $100 of DLC. In order to purchase this game with all DLC, you must pay $130 outside of a sale. On topof this $130 price tag are microtransactions. Just...think about that. The price of this game alone is more than the price of two AAA games. Overkill then has the audacity to TRIPLE DIP on this by adding microtransactions.

Last year, there were a series of "what's next" audio files hinting at something. After a *month* of daily audio files being released, it culminated in an advertisement for another game that isn't released until 2016 and an in-game baseball bat.

Last year, we had "Crimefest," where the top reward Overkill was to release was a mystery. This mystery ended up being John Wick. A movie tie-in they were going to make and release anyway.

Last year, some of the rewards for Crimefest were "FBI Files" (in-game stats), and a new enemy. These weren't released until this year. The FBI files ended up being a re-implementation of a communit web page, and the new enemy ended up just being a bunch of shields standing in a circle.

This year, Overkill did a "Hype Train" event. By pre-ordering DLC, we would get "hype-fuel" points. With enough "hype-fuel," rewards for the community would be unlocked. In order to boost sales, Overkill finally delivered on a promise of finishing their new prestige levels (called Infamy). The first five infamy levels provided very small gameplay benefits along with awesome in-game masks. The next 20 levels released in Infamy 2.0 provided new masks and experience point bonuses (so you can infamy....faster?). I call this "Mask Pack 2.0." It took Overkill 14 months to release this. In response, people started refunding their DLC pre-orders. In response to THAT, Overkill released the DLC early so no one could get refunds. The latest Hype-train reward has yet to be released. In response to this, I completely stopped buying DLC. I have no DLC at all that has been released since Mask Pack 2.0.

And most recently, Overkill added microtransactions after explicitly saying that they will NEVER do that along with intentionally breaking extremely well made community mods. Overkill does not deserve your money. They do not deserve any money. They have repeatedly broken their promises to the community. They have insulted the community. They have done absolutely nothing but show how far a company can fall.

Overkill, shame on you. I truly do not believe there are words that can describe my level of disappointment with you. Am I angry? You bet your ♥♥♥ I am. But more than that, I'm just so disappointed. You've truly shown that you are nothing but liars and cheats. I truly hope your company goes out of business.

PayDay 2 is one of the nicest surprises of the year. Overkill Software understands the atmosphere of gangster movies and wisely improves these pieces of gameplay, that might have been disappointing in the first game. The sequel is better in almost every way - you can play a thief and enjoy good character development and shooting systems. I really hope, that PayDay 3 will be even better.
