(Very Little Spoilers Ahead)
Here's the Plot.
There's an deadly epidemic going around in the City of Calli, and its up to Captain Lamat Nash and his Crew to Put an end to the Deadly Epidemic using the green Pearls Power. The Epidemic was spreading fast, Decimating the Population. Since that The Nautiflyus Airship would take too long to arrive flying over Known Lands, They decide to take a shortcut through the Forbiddin Region. When they arrived at the forbiddin Zone, the Green Pearl tried to shield the Nautiflyus ship from the deadly clouds which unfortunately failed after the Lightning Bolt had struck the Nautiflyus and was forced to make a crash landing on top of a Labyrinth Structure.
With the Ship severally Damaged, Captain Lamat has no choice but to send one of his Crew members inside the Unknown Tower to find some Gas to reinflat the Balloons, While the others look for the materials to mend the Aircraft. Once you began to desend down to the tower, (Spoiler) Captain Lamat Nash gets Kidnapped and the Green Pearl gets stolen by an unknown entity. Not only you need to find at least 20 to 40 Bottles of Gas depending on the Difficulty, You now must also save Captain Nash and retrieve the Green Pearl and the pieces of its container.
They're are 4 Characters to choose from:

Karma, Ex Deviant (The good Unknown Entity) R1, R2, L2, L1
The game starts you off by the crash site along with Captain Lamat to watch over and oversee the Repairs while he asks you to head down inside the tower to retrieve some gas. The gameplay itself is fair, The difficulty is fair in terms of gunfights, Platforming (mostly) and traps. Its not to hard, but some of the platforming is small and sometimes you need to back up close to the edge to get a running start. if you jump to early while your still beginning to run, you may end up jumping slowly and only a few feet and you may even jump to your death. I forgot to mention that this game is Full of DEATH TRAPS that could or can Kill you. It's not to say that It's not very hard, but Trivial. You can die from falling to your death or falling into a spike pit. Some platforms will give and fall which means you can fall to your death if you don't move soon. Other traps don't kill you in one hit, (depending on the difficulty) But you can take some or take severe damage to your health. There's ammo to pick up, While the Blue amination is more common than the rest, They can be scares if used often. If you do run out of ammo, Melee could be your only option at least against small or medium enemies. But the Large and Boss enemies, you need ammo if you wanna see past the level. There are also hidden items in the game to find, through secret rooms or at ledges, Be sure to look around every corner. don't forget, secret rooms also contain important items such as the pearl pieces, Ammo, Upgrades, gas, etc.
You'll also find save points throughout the game that look like teleporters. so when you have a chance, Save your game.
The really Bad Thing about this game is the Game breaking Backpack Bug in Level 4. (Spoilers) After you get captured, you must retrieve your Belongings. Beware that when you pick up the Backpack containing your items. There is a bug where if you are almost or at a capacity of how much you can carry when your items are taken and stored in a backpack, and that you have numerous items in your inventory when you select the backpack to retrieve your items. It will break your Inventory and your Game. So when you do Retrieve your Items. Be sure you drop everything or don't pick anything up till you retrieve your items. Excluding Health, Mania ammo, gas and Container Piece, They will add to amount of items you already have.
The soundtrack in this game is really great, especially in areas that fit the atmosphere or during boss fights. although it's not to say lots of em unfortunately are unused and would had worked better in certain areas too. another thing that bugs me that the music always cuts back to the start before it ends. Never the less, the music is still great.
Graphics are not the best especially Character Face textures in some looked all rubbed out. If you move your camera against the walls, you can see past the boundaries, But it can also be useful for locating Secrets too. It's pretty much what you'll expect on a PS1 Console. Environments do look great however, Textures are great, they fit in the environments of the maps. Enemy textures are fair.
It's a Great game to be fair, It has some quarks and Bugs. But it's an underrated game. To me its a classic! and I recommend checking it out.… Expand
