Nova Antarctica presents a difficult survival challenge but that's mostly because it's difficult to know what your objectives are. While surviving against the brutal weather is part of the fun, it's also challenging because you must restart with every failure. It's a game where you must dedicate lots of time to learn and the mystery isn't a big draw. You may be entertained at first but it could be tough to continue playing.

*Nova Antarctica* is a charming, if at times challenging, combination of survival-crafting mechanics and platforming. While it’s got its great and charming moments, a lot of little issues can hold the game back, making it slow or outright frustrating to play and leaving the player with a feeling that the game itself just isn’t totally finished.

Nova Antarctica looks very pretty and can tug at the heartstrings, but its chopped up level structure and awkward exploration build up the frustration.

Nova Antarctica has ideas worth exploring. Its visual identity is striking, its environmental storytelling has real emotional weight, and some moments linger as you play. But the game is let down by overworked mechanics, an exhausting UI, unclear tutorials, and a difficulty curve that feels punishing rather than purposeful.

A cute adventure that seeks to blend sandbox survival with a worthy message and meaningful journey, but ends up frustrating rather than delighting and ultimately fails to deliver on an otherwise solid core concept.
