Director's cut (also known previously as Isolated Year Update) introduces a remake of most of the late-game content, completely changing the 2nd hour of the game and also adding some new things to the earlier part of the game. Also all of game's endings were remade and some of them became much harder to achieve than the others. Also, many achievements were remade according to the new content.

This alternative horror title, inspired by both PS1 style The Lighthouse, leaves me very puzzled.

The first half is masterfully crafted, restrained, and tasteful horror, that leaves you with a feeling of despair close to drowning. It's very linear, but that allows it to be a really focused cinematographic experience.

The second half is close to incomprehensible. With the point of view constantly changing, but nothing to hold on to getting properly established, it's irritatingly hard to make any sense of what's happening and you mostly don't get the same feeling of dread as before. As I've read from other players online, you need to complete the game multiple times and get all of the endings to understand the plot and its themes, but that kind of robs the first half of any suspense, so doing that wasn't appealing to me at all.

On top of everything said, No One Lives Under the Lighthouse suffers from some incredibly cliche moments, which made it a mostly underwhelming experience, even despite the beautiful visual style and sound design.
