While it has a lot of positives going for it they don’t add up to enough to make the game truly good. Odd difficulty spikes alongside a narrative that never really goes further than ‘Hey, I’m being chased!’ can make the game either frustrating or downright boring at times.

Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble is a nice puzzle-platformer, although not very original and marked by a not impeccable controls. The sense of anxiety and urgency given by our monstrous pursuer is a nice idea, but only if you choose the medium difficulty level to not run into a frustrating trial & error.

Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble can be best described as a game with a good idea that's buried under sloppy execution.

Its controls are often frustrating, and it relies too much on trial and error. Sometimes, it's smart and feels fresh and satisfying, but most of the time, it just feels tedious and uninspired.

This new entry in the Mushroom Men saga is simply broken, and for a lot of reasons: mostly, the less than accurate controls and its exceedingly frustrating trial & error nature.

With other, better platformers out there, it's hard to find a reason to recommend that you spend time with this one.

The original game on Wii was so much fun. This game is much different, it's a platformer with small puzzles sprinkled in by having to place crates and trampolines in the right places to progress through the level. This game is crazy hard tho! You're being chased by the Truffle Princess which basically times you to get these puzzles in place to platform ahead before she catches you, otherwise you die. You can change the difficulty of the game to "easy" and she won't be present tho so the game basically becomes a more casual puzzle-solving game. Personally, right now I prefer this mode which makes it nice to platform along and enjoy things without feeling rushed as you figure out the puzzles.

Art is amazing. There's a rendered cinematic movie at the start of Level 1 that looks like something from Blur or Pixar. And the cutscenes between worlds are great as well. The environment is nice and still has that great charm from the original Mushroom Men. The main character is great, enemies are great, Truffle Princess is hideously great, and the music is great.

It's super frustrating at times but I like that because I feel like I won't get sick of the game anytime soon as I attempt to take on Normal and Hard difficulties.

Overall I think this game is a lot of fun, pretty original and it's refreshing to have a challenge these days with so many watered down games out there that dumb down the difficulty to the point that you are sick of them too quickly. I won't be sick of Mushroom Men: Truffle Trouble anytime soon.

    I strongly recommend this game.
