Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault's early access launch offers entertaining dungeon-crawling and smart inventory and management minigames, even if the devs are still figuring out exactly how those systems all combine. [Early Access Review]

Despite some framerate jitters, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault feels very polished for an early access title, and offers a ton of content to get stuck into already – with more promised. This is a massive improvement on the original, which delivers a ton more features, story, and gameplay while retaining the same core premise. If this is the level of quality straight out of the early access gate, I can’t wait to see what Digital Sun sells us when it’s ready to hit 1.0. [Early Access Review]

Moonlighter 2 has its stumbles, but I don’t expect it to fall on its face on the long road to its 1.0 launch. As it’s still in early access, it has a lot of room to grow — both in terms of content and quality. I was able to reach the end of its current version in about 10 hours, and I’ve only completed about 25% of the entire game according to its in-game counter. Developer Digital Sun has also been very open to feedback and quick to resolve any and all issues, which is surprisingly an oddity in the modern era of gaming. (As a matter of fact, I had to omit a line about a stuttering issue from this very review as it was fixed in a mere matter of days after the early access release.) In its current state, Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is not the perfect dungeon-to-shop simulator, but with developer Digital Sun running the register, it has the potential to be. On the whole, I’m enjoying Moonlighter 2’s Early Access release. It’s a decent mechanical upgrade over the original game in the majority of areas, but it’s also fair to say that it’s losing a little something in the transition, and I find it a bit less whimsical. If you want more stuff to do and love a meta-grind though, then this game should satisfy that nicely. [Early Access Review]

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault was a pretty fun and fairly impressive romp for me. My biggest complaints are with how the game balances its adventuring and shopkeeping, and I wish that a little more depth and importance on running a good shop was present in the version of the game I played. With an early-access cycle ahead of us, however, we just might see that become the case. [Early Access Review]
