Monark delivers a satisfying JRPG experience, with a creative and unique battle system and creepy demon-filled world. But a weak story and characters prevent the game from truly delivering something stellar.

Monark is a fun JRPG with interesting characters and a unique story full of personality tests and high school drama. Though at times navigating the character can get a bit frustrating.

Monark is full of dark themes, contemplations of Ego and Desire and what they mean, what makes someone truly human, and if or when they should set aside their Desires. Accompanied by a soundtrack filled with catchy J-Pop/Rap music from the V-Tuber group Kamitsubaki, and a team of developers fresh off the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series, Monark is a game that I had high hopes for. From a story perspective it succeeds and then some, but from a gameplay perspective I find it lacking in both combat and exploration.

Rich and demanding, the clashes are gripping, worthy of frenzied chess games during which each placement must be thought out and calculated. On the other hand, the title is served by its technical shortcomings, a lack of depth in its dialogues, as well as a difficult attachment to the characters. Despite everything, Monark knows how to establish itself as an experience to live for any J-RPG lover looking for strategic brawls that oppose him with some resistance.

First of all I think this is one of the games what definitely didn't deserve the bad reviews it got. It definitely seems like this game gotFirst of all I think this is one of the games what definitely didn't deserve the bad reviews it got. It definitely seems like this game got review bombed. It's it the best SRPG you will ever play? No but it's still pretty good. I liked the Ego mechanics, I found the main cast very likable and unique and the gameplay was very fun.

The only problem I can see it's that this game can because a grind fest and if you don't like grinding to progress in story this game might not be your cup of tea and on top of that even if you have the level to beat the level mission, the game is very, very hard. I highly recommend Monark for SRPG veterans who want a challenge and don't mind SRPG gameplay for many many... I think it took me over 100 hours to best the game and I saw people usually beating it in around 80 to 100 hours obviously with all the endings and the true ending, if you want experience only one ending you can probably beat the game in 40-60 hours.

So yeah I think Monark is a great game I would technically give it a 8/10 but because of the review bombing I feel like giving it a 10 to balance things out seems fair to me. If you like SRPG's and you are in search for a challenge then Monark it's the perfect game for you.

The ones who voted negative are unloved by their parents and never had a girlfriend.
