This is not Mass Effect, not even close.

The story, dialog writing, and voice acting are very weak unlike the prior games. All you have to do is YouTube ME1-3 to a dialog scene and what you see is night and day. In ME1-3 the models look realistic delivering the lines, the writing/story is captivating, and the voice actors convey strong emotion making you the player feel like you're the main character in a blockbuster movie.

ME A however makes you feel like you are in an bad B- movie. After several hours I found myself skipping dialog it was so painful. I use subtitles so I'd quickly read ahead, get the gist and skip. But WTF skipping dialog in an RPG!!! Dialog, characters, and story are the bedrock of an RPG. We have to conclude ME is now just a shadow of a role playing game now.

I suspect people rating this game 9-10 are employees of BioWare as there is simply no way to see this game as perfect or anywhere near it, unless you like lots Fed Ex quests and pointless combat and don't care about characters or story. It's got to be an EA program to swarm sites like this to put in bogus raving reviews of something so bad.

I hate to bring up politics. I've been a liberal democrat my whole life so I'm not sure who they are pandering to, but shoving political issues from TODAY into a game that supposed to take place several hundred years in the FUTURE in another galaxy is NOT art, it's immersion busting anti-art. If there is a good interesting story to weave that includes a gay or trans character that's totally fine but including them as a part of some perverse check-list item is just bad formulaic form. But not only that, they are hypocritical even on these issues where they fall all over themselves to show how PC they are. The male/male relationships/romance scenes are few and truncated, we get embarrassing insensitive fumbling like with the Hanly character, or the stupid setup line "we don't tolerate bigots" with Jaal. Or ever worse, tired stereotypes like the bubbly, flamboyant, handle bar mustache Dorian from DA I (because you know all gay men are like that!).

I don't even need to touch the much memed animations and horrific character models, there's plenty of that on the internet. And sadly its all true.

I'm not sure how this game got out the door. Nobody at BioWare must have played it or any of the prior games. It's lackluster, boring, and pales in compare to anything that went before it.

I'll borrow from ME3: "Critical Mission Failure"

sry, but this game is a shame.

graphics: -cant get a solid 60fps framerate on high settings @ 1080, despite a decent system (i7 6700k @ 4,5, 32gb ddr4 @ 3000, gtx 980 @ 1500), fps drops down to 40 -> immersion breaking -reshade doesnt work without problems(mouse pionter), so you have to play it grayish, colorless and without contrast ->also called vanilla. -what is screen

-what is screen calibration? seems to be brightness!? how about gamma?
-> had to change the gamma settings for me:a in the nvidia settings.

    controls:
-like always: everyone that owns a mouse with more than 1000dpi has to check if the lowest in
game sensivity setting is nearly ok and then go to find out where the ini file is
(thought that a 2017 game learned a lesson)

    -menus/ui:
-on pc you have to press space to confirm something, return does not work. why?
you really want to **** up the gamers in the main menu?

    combat/gameplay:
-ok, but if youre far right/left of an object you have to change the cam for yourself (down step!)
-jetpack boosting and gunplay is ok.

Based on public reactions I was not gonna buy the game and I still wouldn't. I only got to play the game because a friend who pre-ordered is on delegation and he gave access to his account.

I knew a lot of what to expect form the game already, but still I was trying to explore basically everything, until the issues got me and I was rushing the main story more and more and more just to be done with it. So here we go:

    Pros:
    - Environmental graphics - although there are some issues at times, for the most part it's absolutely stunning. This is the best looking space game to date, and tho there are not that many spaces games out there, believe me, some views will leave your jaw open, it can be really breath taking.
    - Combat - it's just great and dynamic, you have a lot of stuff (guns, powers, skills) to play with and customize your build, I think this is more fun than most shooter games out there. The small criticism I have here is dumb AI of your squad and lack of option to control them better
    - Main story - I wasn't intending to put it under the pros, but the story itself isn't bad all. It's nothing amazing, but it's perfectly alright. I wan't gonna list it under the pros, but I decided to split it from general writing, as such, understand "main story" as the events that happen in the game without its delivery.

    Cons:
    - Facial animations and character looks - this one is obvious one, it sucks, it feels dated, it feels unfinished and unpolished. It's worse than ME1. Facial animations are weird, disturbing and can make you feel uncomfortable. Character looks also has a lot to be desired. The worst part are the eyes - a cold, oversized eyeballs staring at you like the characters wouldn't have eyelids. It can look really scary and awkward. To quickly sum up, human characters (alien ones are much better done) feel more like androids or zombies than people. Character creation is also terrible - it feels like retard factory more than actual character creator.
    - writing - I will split it in few sections here. First, the character writing. I was not expecting this from Bioware, because the absolutely majority of them are basically puddle shallow generic, dull, emotion less characters with boring backgrounds. One the most boring character writing I've seen in video games (especially RPG) in past decade (not counting garbage like steam green light trash). Next is dialogue writing, which also has negative impact on main story delivery, which as already mentioned - is not that bad. To be perfectly honest, at times I would think the dialogues are written by a 10 year old. There are so many overly cheesy and pointless lines for an AAA game. Some of the lines are have even bad sentence structure and for such you would get F (or lowest equivalent degree) even in elementary school. This feels more like initial draft than final writing.
    - voice acting - not all of it is that bad, but overall a lot of voice actors just read the text without any intonation and emotion, just like a student reading of the powerpoint slides show during some presentation nobody has interest in.
    - User Interface (UI) - absolutely disgusting. I feel like it's done on purpose to waste my time with multi-layer sub-menus and overall awkward design.
    - Music - it's just lazy and boring and for most of the time there is no background music. The one is there - doesn't build the moment up at all.
    - Side missions - absolute most of it is boring fetch that has no real effect on your game progression. It's very repetitive structure kill the immersion and I'd rather just free-roam instead of going from point A to B to C and pressing a button, or picking up some irrelevant item.
    - Bug and glitches - there is quite a lot of them, it's various clipping issues, terrible graphical+physics glitches, like falling down thru floors, NPC standing in the air, or sinking in the ground and many more.

So, it's pretty bad and no doubt a huge disappointment in ME franchise. At this point I strongly recommend not to buy it if you have at least some self-respect. Sure environments look cool and combat is really fun, story itself is also not that bad, but for me these are secondary aspects and the primary aspects (characters, writing, voice acting and overall presentation) are from bad to terrible. So the absolute maximum I can give is 4 out 10 and even with that I kinda feel merciful.

My first review here. I won't touch horrible, immersion breaking animations, everybody know about them.
I love Mass Effect series, I played each game 3-4 times but latest entry is absolutely uninspired and lazy.
Gameplay is subpar and filled with meaningless activities, any resemblance of rpg is gone now, NPCs is ugly, lifeless and boring, UI wasn't designed for humans and that character

Gameplay is subpar and filled with meaningless activities, any resemblance of rpg is gone now, NPCs is ugly, lifeless and boring, UI wasn't designed for humans and that character creation....what were they thinking. Story and companions, THE most important part of previous Mass Effect games is "meh" at best.
The only rays of light is beautiful landscapes and combat, it's best in the series, the only downside is that you can't control your companions like in previous games.
I think the only redeeming part of this game will be Multiplayer. I know it's a horde-mode but it's a damn good one with decent progression system.
So, don't believe all those 10/10 or 0/10 reviews - they lie. But the truth is it's a mediocre, overhyped and buggy game but you can still get some legit fun in multiplayer.

Extremely disappointed in this game. What is with all the social agendas? Keep politics out of the game please. This ruined the Mass Effect games series. Fount this game very boring and repetitive. The developer is just looking for more money here so he can go on my whitey bashing twitter rants instead of putting time into good gameplay programming. Never again.

Worst in the series. It doesn't even deserve the title of being a 'Mass Effect' entry. It was contrived characterization with lazy writing and weak dialogue. There's no strong characters like Garrus and interesting ones like Thane.. Just bland writing with awful animations and awkwardly shoe horned SJW themes.

What a terrible let down. BioWare should be ashamed of themselves,

The characters, the story and the gameplay can't compare to earlier games in the series. The game is also negatively influenced by the racist Manveer Heir, and I personally will boycott Bioware for hiring such a jackass.

The gameplay is decent and the universe is massive. The graphics are decent but not outstanding especially given the size of the installation. The story is a huge let down. I would rather they made a game half the size of this with an engaging plot and some interesting characters and better quests. If gameplay and multiplayer is all you want then this game will keep you occupied for a while but if you want a story that will draw you in and keep you coming back you won't find it here.

The gameplay is where they really destroyed the game. You don't control teammates, the battles are basically a cover whack-a-mole from easy to hard and the only difference is how many hits the enemies take and how many there are, this makes fights more tedious but not more difficult as you go from easy to hard. There's some stupid additions like platforming segments with unresponsive big clunky 3D characters are just dreadful, the sudoku puzzle mechanic is not terrible but very unoriginal and the vehicle driving through the open world wastelands with nothing of interest in miles and miles are the guidelines on how NOT to make open world games. Instead of embracing what makes Mass Effect good this sequel tried to add more elements with poor taste leaving behind the gameplay elements that made ME an enjoyable game. Expand

Starts off pretty interesting but the acting is juvenile and the mission structure and missions are incredibly boring after you get the second planet. Also, main character is like playing as a 15 year kid and the plot, oh wait, is there a plot? I've played over 10 hours and there's not a story to be found. Shame when the story writers, gameplay developers, and designers all drop the ball. Additionally, for some reason all the female characters are kinda unattractive both physically and personality wise. Not sure why, but something is very off with them. I don' t really care if they're superhero comic hot but to make them all unappealing is weird.

It saddens me to give this game a 4/10 but even free, it's not worth your time.

    PROS:

Graphics are nice at times. But nothing special given the pretty bad character/environment design.

I am a slow learner because the Mass Effect series is near and dear to me, but the latest installment is an utter disappointment and I believe a true testament to where we stand in the video game industry. There are only a handful of games that I've purchased that I truly regret spending my money on because I tend to do my research and form a usually informative decision but in this case I am painstakingly upset. I feel Andromeda was a complete waste of money and I really don't want to state this but releasing games of this quality actually encourages pirating and I think EA should be ultimately ashamed. Just about every aspect of ME:A is a complete downgrade and a move in the opposite direction. The combat, dialogue, story, characters, and overall RPG elements are lacking tremendously and it shows in every category. The story and questing get boring so fast and almost the entire galaxy feels empty and pointless. We all know how bad the facial animations are even after corrections, but how sad is the directionless plot and meaningless quests? The core game ends rather fast and you are left with about 5 empty planets that are left 90% unexplored because they are left out of this core game. On top of all this is the dreadful galaxy map and travel system that even after a tab skip was implemented the entire system is tedious and a real bore. The final icing on the cake is the less than mediocre multiplayer and in the end you are left with a steaming pile of crap. I think it is also important and humorous to mention that I have a very good rig with an overclocked GTX 1080 and the game with all current updates runs horribly, constantly lagging and stuttering in 4K, which does not occur with any other PC title I run. It is hard to say these things and this is tough love because I have old attachments to the Mass Effect series and Bioware, but the direction their moving in and EA in general feels very easy to criticize. If things continue in this direction I will be forced as a gamer to completely severe my support of EA and never purchase a title again that has their name anywhere near it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mass Effect Andromeda had so much potential and they screw it up. The facial animations is crap, the engine they used is crap for this kind of game, the quests feel repetitive and boring. The world design is boring and feels empty of anything actually interesting. I somehow forced myself to finish this game. I did enjoy the game play somewhat... when it doesn't glitch me into something. I especially love it when the characters just start T-Posing. I had hoped that many things would be rectified in patches and in the quarian ark DLC that was hinted at the end of the game (which was scrapped), but no. I would not buy this, as support for single player has ended a long time ago and it is still trash.

In summary the game is big, some characters are interesting, and I love the combat system. The new species were also interesting. the combat, i love. However, there are too many cons for me to recommend this game.

    Pros:

    - Frostbite engine is a very good, is efficient, I like it. It has improved a lot since DA:I.

    - All that is not a character looks very good.

    - It can be played without being installed an SSD, which is great since it eats a lot of space.

    - Combat mechanics are good, not spectacular, but good.

    - Open world(s) gameplay is a nice change, it has flaws but not because it's open world.

    - Nice weapon building mechanics.

    - Love that the mako is back (even without guns).

    Cons:

1 - You can only use 3 abilities.

2 - The story world building does not have the quality of the previous titles.

3 - The dialogs are childish, they look focused for teenager kids. They don't curse for instance. You will be hitting SPACE a lot even the first time you read the lines.

4 - No renegade options, the main character cannot be a douche, no matter which option you choose.

5 - The main character script does not change whether your character is male or female, making it weird because the female character feels like a boy and the male like a sissy.

6 - The space activities are simplified yet again, no fuel, the scan is even simpler. Basically they removed this part of the game. Pretty similar to ME3.

7 - Character models are really bad, ME1 was a lot better, in fact is the worst I've seen.

7a - My Face is Tired syndrome. **Thunderbirds TV series had better face animations**. Eyebrows and eyes are not animated at all, they don't move, never. After a while I developed a constant SPACE hitting rampage because it really annoys a lot.

7b - The character face editor has very few options to tweak but what is worst is that the face presets are really bad.

7c - The default male character looks like if it had all the sliders in the middle, it does not have a personality. The Sheppard face comes from a real person and you can feel it or like the Geralt in the Witcher 3. The female has some personality but they didn't do it right and the face proportions are all wrong.

8 - Some bugs, for instance if you save when enemies are near, the enemies will disappear when you load the game back. You can skip a lot of content that way. Also if you can kill one enemy with a single shot with the sniper rifle the others will not aggro, no matter how close they are.

Ryder, unlike Shepard, is a set character with a set personality. Ryder is a nice person who can either be emotional, intelligent, jovial or snarky. You can only affect their attitude in certain situations, not their personality. Don't even get me started on how ugly everybody (especially the females) look. If mass effect was a Drama of cosmic scale which kept player emotionally invested through it's run, this is a casual weekday sitcom full of unfunny jokes where the crowd laughs so that you don't have to.

Game is supposedly full of content, but that content is a joke. Side mini-games which simply extend the hours spent in-game but adds nothing to the over-arching narrative or world building. Only mildly interesting concept I've came across was Angara race. And I could argue this was poorly done.

No EDI trying to find out what it is to be human.
    No Rannoch
    No imposing villains like Soverign
No badass characters like illusive man.

Nothing. Just .. action sequences which I frankly don't care really, with some made up narrative to justify it. And when everything is done in plastic looking graphics, there is nothing else to pick on or criticize other than animations. Because game doesn't have anything else in it.

    Disappointment.

TL;DR- This game is bad, but if you are a fan and don't really care about problems, you'll probably love this game. Buy Mass Effect 1 instead.

This game only has one thing going for it, and that's the combat. But even that isn't good enough to hold this game up; with buggy characters and cut scenes, audio problems, multiple crashes, s-s-s-s-stuttering, boring and uninteresting enemies, story, and motivations, barren worlds that hold small boring huts that you can shoot people at, shoe horned in "loyalty missions", a forgetful soundtrack, and conflicts that feel more like a melodramatic play put on my freshman theater kids rather than an epic space opera, this game disappoints at every single turn.

Oh, and if you are a fan of decisions, this game has none. Or at least, none that matter. Or if you are a fan of making a customized character, good luck with that, as the character creation tools are more limited than Bethesda games are buggy, as well as only having 3 hot-keys for abilities.

    The bad:

What did I just play? The facial animations look like the characters are constantly constipated and desperately need to discharge their bowls. Only 1 character was likable, the rest had no depth. Did I mention how bad the facial animations was? The omny tool looks like the discharged contents of said characters. The story felt like the children of said discharge.

TL;DR - Something managed to be worse than Spider Man 3

I wanted to like this game, I really did, but there are just too many problems, too many bugs and glitches that shouldn't have gotten past the dev phase, and definitely shouldn't be in the finished product.

What that DOESN'T say is that the game would max out my CPU 100% on every core even when running the game at absolute minimum settings. Absolute JOKE. With everything on minimum my computer can actually run the game at about 120fps. But the stupid game decides that it is still going to dip into the SUB 20s seemingly at random.

Pathetic attempt from a pathetic company. Bioware USED to be a great company but the Bioware that once was is dead.

Now the game itself is actually better than I thought it was going to be. The characters don't annoy me as much as the characters did in previous games. The combat is actually pretty satisfying.

But my god, this game has some problems even beyond the potato faced character models and the crappy animations. Personally don't really care much for the story. Yet another alien race is there to do alien race stuff and humans are trying to colonise another galaxy.

Naturally the alien race gets in the way and the only thing our primitive ape brains come up with it to shoot and vaporise them into submission.

Which I'm actually not even that bothered by. I'll take a crappy story and setting when the gameplay is good and the visuals are good which they definitely are.

But this game has WAY WAY WAY too many problems to be enjoyable. I mean when you have a GTX 1070 and a game is dipping into sub 20 fps there is a BIG f**king problem!!!!!!

This abortion of a game is presumably what you get when a corporation like EA puts people with degrees in "Women's Studies" and "African-American Studies" in charge of game development teams. The game is steeped in political correctness, and it prevents me from achieving the sort of immersion into the game I enjoyed in the first three Mass Effect games.

It's so terrible compared to the first 3 games. They spent 40 million on THIS.

Animations, the Models, the Female Main Characters looks like a shell of the real model while the Male looks far closer to his real model.

You can tell that this game was developed by a studio that has very little experience and time.
What we got is a skeleton, a proof of concept of what could be a foundation to make a proper RPG game in Mass Effect universe.
As a massive fan of original trilogy I feel very sad to see my favorite franchise being treated like this.

For me original trilogy story was the main course, graphics and everything else were side-dishes. I could easily swallow glitches and fails with the amount of creativity invested in writing each and every character. And that's why It is my favourite game ever. Amount of emotions and reactions of different characters trough game...the comedy, tragedy, love. Made the games what they are. Add to that absolutely epic music. And you got what you got. A Bible or RPG games. I don't know what I expected from this, I was looking forward to it to be honest. Game itself isn't bad. Its flashy, combat is fun. But the game itself won't stay in my mind for some time. Original caused a whirlpool of emotions in me when played first time. And made me pass trough the story few more times after the initial run. Driving force for me going trough Andromeda was more or less desperate hope that it will get better as the game progresses. I loved the original for what it was. This unfortunately doesn't deserve to be placed in the same drawer with the boxes of the original trilogy. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is huge, but still feels empty and shallow. On every step, every corner I got the feeling the game was rushed and released unfinished (after 5 years??) and worse then that, I could literaly see how BW went one step forward, but always two back.

Character creation is non existant, no point in whining about that. Your options are limited to width, height and depth, but never shape (brow, eyes, nose, mouth) and because of that, it is an insult to call it CC... with this in mind the lack of "white" skin, haircuts and ugly presets is just not worth thinking about.
The story is "ok"... it could be better, but it could be worse. What bugged me most was the poor writing and the delivery... no suspension, no climax build up. The story starts "big" and the next step, first revelation is a major leap down, the next is good again, and the next after again major leap down... this constant flow of ups and downs is very annoying. The poor writing dows also effect the dialogues, they feel like interrogations/interviews more then ever. And while we were limited to paragon/renegade/neutral in previous game, it is now limited to emotional, logic, casual and professional... what a huge step forward and a difference. The problem herein is: the few words you see on the wheel often do not match what is delivered afterwards and way too often do not match the situation at all (Many people complain about bad voice acting. Well, the VA is actualy good, it fits the lines, it is not their fault it does not match the situation. Even great voice actors could not deliver specific lines better because of the bad writing.)
The combat is not as good as people want us to think. Sure it is more fluent and fast (step forward) but on the other hand, when you are on the far right/left of cover, you have to switch shoulder cam MANUAL (huge step back). Truth be told, I would rather have ME3 combat back. The jetpack is fun, but your squadies keep using it all the time out of combat and the constant powerup of the jets gets annoying when the squad tries to catch up with you. Also a little fun: you try some of this "jump'n'run" puzzles and out of a sudden a squadie is there and pushes you down the ledge because there is not enough room...
The intentory is back, but pointless. You need a loadout station anyway, you can not have the same mod more then once (so equiping more then one gun with the similar mod is not possible), all you do is to open the inv when it is full and deconstruct everything. Oh and you can not customize your squadmates, they are limited to default outfit and weapon, all the time.
The squadmates are also shallow and uninteresting, sure it is hard to come up with a strong new Garrus or interesting like Joker, Tali or Thane, but hands down, MEA have nothing. The ship is full of Kaidan Alencos or Carths or... pick any other general dude from the other games.
Ever heard the saying "less is more"? Well, that applies to squad banter when you are out exploring. They talk so much... annoying. On the other hand, Tempest feels more alive then anything before, as your crew is not limited to their space only.
People also say you have no impact on the game. Actualy you have, it is not much, but you do shape the story a bit. On the other hand, there is no Ryder progression. Sure you start small and are forced into a role you are not trained for, but with what you experience, any normal person would be quite self-confident by the mid of game after all the stuff Ryder accomplishes. And even by the end of game Ryder does not command respect, it is frustrating.
Exploration does not realy exist, the moment you land somewhere, you see a dozen navpoints and all the points of intereset already. There is realy little to discover. Especialy at the galaxy map. The systems have nothing to offer and the descriptions are blunt. The exploration of new worlds BW promised is not there.
The research and crafting are lackluster... the tier system from ME is back, but thats all. You want a N7 Valkyrie AR? Well, research the 10 tiers and construct it. New designs? Nada, and with constructiong comes a major ME2 flaw that everyone loved: mining, but it is worse here. You got to drive the Nomad across a mining field and call a mining drone when there are ressources available...
The fear of failing an outpost, as BW said, does not exist as well. You land and in no tme you got the planet to 100% and your outpost running, failure? No idea how that could be possible.

I am heavily disappointed with MEA, even more then with DAI.

I have to differentiate here a bit, since I DO like the multiplayer since it is fun action. However, a minority of us bought ME4 for the multiplayer part !!! So basically I would give the Multiplayer part an 8. But this is an addon for people and we bought an RPG !!!

Lets begin with the Fighting engine. Yes I know, not the core thing in an RPG, but I think I owe an explanation here, since it seems paradox that I like the fighting engine in the Multiplayer, but hate it in the RPG. I find the 3rd dimension a challenge and fun in multiplayer. But lets face it, is it realistic ? Even with a jetpack ? No it is not, you would probably kill yourself in the first 5 seconds if you used a jetpack like you do in the hardcore combat scenes. So yes it is an RPG and it really makes me feel not being in the game to fight like that. So as a fighting engine for an RPG I have to give it 0 points. It disrupts immersion totally. I can't feel I am Ryder with this, it feels so unreal. That is why it is OK for multiplayer, but not for the RPG, the single player campaign. In multiplayer I don't play a role, I am there for the challenge and the fun. And jump flying around is REAL fun. But if you have to sink yourself in an RPG and BE Ryder .... well it breaks it. In the ME3 series I felt like I WAS commander Sheperd, The missions were tough, but it felt like doable with normal human assets.

So since it is a fighting oriented RPG the fighting engine makes 3 of 10 points. So 0 of 3 points from me here.

Now the story. I am really disappointed. It really looks like a group of raw recruits. I mean Sheperd was a mature person in their very late twenties or perhaps early thirty. Plus they had a full Intelligence Service behind them. Here ? some people who just grew out their teen years jump in and do something. OK, there is the AI, but well, it is secret on top. Would you really trust a teen your precious ship ? juest because they claim to be the pathfinder ? Hey the middle ages have passed where a noble just anointed their child as successor !!!! and especially that other people just ate it. Remember that even warhero Sheperd had to fight for their place hard ? The spectre rank came not immediately.

An RPG lives from the stories, so that is 4 points for me. I give it 1 of 4 points.

The models, voicing and interface: The faces are really unacceptably bad for an RPG, there is no talking out of this. The game itself has pretty nice graphics. maybe not Witcher 3 quality, but it would be good enough to draw me in and make the RPG believable if the rest of the game was OK.

The characters are flat, I just can't get into the game. The quests are boring. I agree that ME3 often was also some fetch questing, but the stories were built better. there was a briefing before. The missions felt important and it was clear what I have to do. Also I am stuck on the first mainquest on EOS. I know exactly that I have to scan the glyphs, but where are they ???? There is sometimes a good joke, but somehow all sounds so rehearsed. The flat expressions in the faces do not really help along with the somehow flat voicing. It is hard to catch, but somehow the old ME voicing had a bit more of spice.

The faces DO matter for an RPG. The faces look especially weird around the eyes and that is where conversation lives. I think 50% of the not coming over of the story is due to the bad face expressions and the eyes. ME was never great in that, however, it is somehow a joke that ME4 beats all its predecessors in bad expressions. And no it is not that hard as some defenders try to say. Fallout 4 did an ok job for example and had much more believable jokes. Fallout 4 is more of an openworld game and such not the best RPG setup, So if they did better as an RPG than ME4, it is a poor result.

Also, do we really need idle games (strike teams) in an RPG.

The faces add a lot to the quality of an RPG … or take it like in ME4. So the models, voicing and interface make 3 of 10 points for me. I can only give 1 point here.

Basically we have to say that this game was not made for the old fans. I am sure there are a lot of people out there who like it. If you are not a SciFi and hardcore RPG (DAO style) fan, it might be ok. So if for you it is not understandable why there are so many outcries, it is NOT the game the ME fans expected and I am sure that all the negative votes are from old fans. This is NOT our series, it feels like they got permissions to use races and characters from the ME franchise, but NOT like an ME game.

BTW, the story would have had potential for sure, but they really botched it.

I reach 45 years old, i play video games all my life and i NEVER get this.
The fact you get Zoom, zoom, unzoom, zoom, unzoom each time you are targeting , scanning, changing weapons or fire at something is simply WAY WAY to hard and the FOV change each time you are targeting, changing weapon, or scan and the FOV depend on what weapons you are using ...

i do not even imagine playing like that in gow or any other tps i will be sick like hell in a middle of any horde or any raid. Then i just look into the internet but BIOWARE do not add any options in 2 years to separate the FOVs or even any options to DO NOT zoom.

    so to be clear:
you are walking with a very large FOV,
you take your weapon you are zooming,
you are aiming more zoom atm you see nothing and you already get 3 zooms.
You want to scan something unzoom,
you are not getting any more weapons unzoom again.

In less than 30 seconds you get 5 to 6 zoom and 3 unzoom Wowww -_0
and becasue you have no minimap you need to open the map often what gives you more zoom and more animations for noting. sorry but my head can't !!!
i just get the will to kill myself, puke and get the worst headaches of history playing any video games.

Imagine something like that happen when you take a pen, drop the pen, write 1 letter with the pen, change the pen, retake another pen ... you will become crazy. so i will not play this game anymore because after 3 monstruous headheach i understand the devs are totaly stupids and do not even bother what are correct HUDs and UIs and want to kill us all by headaches ... i think. (That's a new one)

i am desapointed, i never quit a game for something like that, i try every solution i can find
it is very simple there is no options to avoid 200 zoom / unzoom in 1h
then ... mass effect andromeda thx but > go to trashcan after 1h36 minutes and 3 headaches.
    What a waste.

I love the universe and the series so I keep going back and trying to trudge my way through all the game breaking bugs. It my be the most bugged/glitched game I've played in 25 years. I'd give it a year for them to fix it and buy it on sale if at all after knowing what I know now.

The problem with this game is that it already looks like a 5 year old plus game which is pretty sad. Poorly done environments with no interactivity, just static meshes that do nothing, poorly done characters. After all this time the look of the game did not evolve one bit. They probably started developing this game at the same time as Mass Effect 3 and took too long to release this and could not get it into a newer engine to make it look relevant to what is being offered now for other games. I am glad that i did not pay full price for this. It's a big let down. Like the assasin's creed unity of Ubisoft for Bioware. I hope EA and Bioware learn a hard lesson from this. I don't blame anyone who are completely crapping on this game as it deserves it. It's a total afront to people who love the franchise. Expand

-2 for forcing me to change windows settings (ie needed virtual memory to play)
-2 for a lot of bugs and errors forcing me to shut down the game and losing played unsaved game
-1 for the decision that you can't save the game during some missions on PC

If they had released a finished and polished game it would have gotten a 7.
But since they decided that the buying players also should be beta testers I can only give it a 2.
A 2 for a triple A title is an embarrasement for both EA and Bioware and I will be really careful before buying a title from them!

No content, silly boring story, bland unintresting characters, game full of SJW and leftist propaganda, tragic models of characters and animations, copy paste locations, idiotic antagonist, lack of alien races, dialogs written by sjw 10 y.o. Seriously, I had hoped someone at Bio ware had the creativity that was so there in mass effect 2. But nope! Boring, lifeless average lacking creativity, lacking expansive thoughts, piss poor game relationships, etc.. etc.. etc.
Only giving a 4 cause I am generous because the game does not deserve it. I ran out every mission, every opportunity thinking something would be awesome. NOPE!

Sadly this game can't keep up with the previous Mass Effect games.
worse music, worse sound effect, boring gameplay. But better planets, and atmosphere, and better graphics.

    Graphics: good
    Sounds: medium

    Control: good
    Perfomance: good

Mass Effect Andromeda is what happens when you replace most of your Dev-team with low skill crazed faminists who want to promote their political agenda over writing a good story and good characters. They completely destroyed this franchise in one go. Such a shame, I really love ME1-3

As a game, it sucks. It's painful to see so much work to go in to something so bad. Shoot. Wait for shields, pop out and shoot again. Easily one of the most boring and uninspired things I've ever played.

The dialog, story, voice acting were all very much sub-par, the animations are very janky, turning the characters into hideous caricature of people, and are much worse than the original mass effect, let alone any game that came out in the last 3 years. Even months after launch with multiple patches, constant bugs still plague my game, with quests not finishing, enemies getting stuck under maps or on roofs, and teammates disappearing into the map geometry.

The gameplay is decent, but not enjoyable enough to be the reason to play the game, many of the missions are repetitive and boring, very MMO-esque, with many of them being fetch quests, or gather X resource to give someone. The companion missions are slightly better, but the voice acting and dialogue let them down badly.

Your companions are shallow and hard to connect with, and at no point did I ever feel any emotional attachment to any of them like I did to garrus or wrex in my initial play through of the first mass effect nearly 10 years ago. There script simply never made care about my crew; who they were, their motivations, or what they wanted to do.

The romance side of things is totally awful, and plays out like a young adult/teen romance novel you find at the bottom of the bargain bucket at bookstores. Simply awful.

The mutiplayer appears to exist to simply tick the multiplayer box on the checklist, its shallow, repetitive, and a total disconnect-fest. Mass Effect 3's mutiplayer was a fun deviation from the single player, and actually made an impact on your single player play through, Andromeda's is anything but that.

The game totally lacked polish, and needed at least another 2 years of work on it to be a good game, let alone on good enough to be called a mass effect game.

The story is boring. The quests are boring too. There is no feeling of exploration , no role playing. This is a shooter. However multiplayer is buggy as hell , abilities may or may not work , mainly due to lag. No servers means lag is with you always unless you hosts.

ME1, 2, 3 was magnificent. DA Originis was outstanding DA2 was a mistake but DA Inquisition and ME Andromeda are just painful to play hwen you see how gamemaking is going downhill.

Going back to Andromeda - I'm 75 hours in and completed about 35 % of the game. Most of that time is a painfull, unfulfiling grind and fetch quests. Now I feel like I just run a marathon and simply cant make myself finish this game.
I wont buy an EA game ever again and the new Anthem game coming from Bioware will be its last - mark my words.

Én főleg ezeket a felvonulásokat nem értem. Minek? Minek? Betegség ellen szoktak ilyesmit csinálni. What an embaresment, bad story, ugly unlikable characters. Boring generic gameplay.. All the good Bioware game have characters that make the player feel for them. Sometimes you hate a bad guy , sonetimes you love a compainion. The characters in Andromeda were so dull and safe all you got from them was to not want to be anyware near them.
