Despite a not so beatiful graphics (but anyway, game is from 2000, it's just 2.5d), the gameplay is just awesome and game itself is very very fun and addictive! Some campaign missions are very challenging, you really should think about your strategy and plan things carefully. This game is highly recommended to try. Expand

Utterly unique approach, even in 2016 it has not been copied or equaled in any meaningful way. Solid multiplayer. Incredibly challenging campaign. Replayable. I have beat the entire map at least 5 or 6 times. Definitely one of my favourite computer games of all time and a strategy classic for the ages.

Avoid the sequel at all costs. It was not made by the same team, and is a pale imitation of this majestic classic.

Yes it's hard, but once you get the economy down, it's manageable. Sometimes your heroes do stupid stuff, but that's part of the charm of the indirect control. It's the one game I never get tired of playing, I can boot it up anytime, and have a blast.
It's a game made with love for games, for the genre, and it **** shows. I wish they did a proper sequel (I'm aware of Majesty 2, but it was made by a different team), but as Cyberlore is no more, not getting my hopes up.
If you've never tried this game, I envy you, and suggest you start right away.

I have been playing it every couple years for more than a decade, and it never gets old. What makes it such an interesting strategy game is that I don't have direct control over any of the characters. Each character has their own personality traits. The guys made with a temple to Lunord stay within the city and keep guard. The guys made with a temple to Helia like to venture out and kill monsters. Rangers like to explore unknown parts of the map. Rogues like to steal things and respond to reward flags. Warriors venture around like the Helia people. Guys made with a temple to Krolm like to form hunting parties, and the other characters will follow them around. The game also has a lot of randomness to it, so you'll never get the same map twice. The campaigns range from very easy to very hard, and there is no particular order for doing them. If you can't beat one campaign, just pick a different one.

This is a bit of a rant, but the lack of campaign selection in other games can really piss me off. I loved Command & Conquer, but I hate those maps where I get a small group of people and no base.I'm forced to play those stupid maps just to get to the more fun parts of the game. Majesty cuts the BS and lets me play the fun campaigns.

It is calm and meditative experience on low difficulty where you can just watch characters roam around and interact with environment and each other. And absolute chaos on high where your kingdom will be constantly ambushed by dragons, vampires and ogres.
Main campaign is great enough by itself and than there is Random Map Generator providing countless hours of gameplay.

Given the lack of depth many modern games currently have, Majesty may still be one of the best sims available. Check it out, if you haven't already. Expand
