    Это же надо было постараться что бы игра 2020 была технически хуже чем игра из 2002! Просто взяли кусок говна из 2016 и запихнули в другую обертку, а ведь геЙмеры схавали!    Скрипты, Скрипты, Скрипты, Скрипты...

    ok one of best my favor game in my life is old mafia 1
    but this one is full shi... sounds tracks changed. old sound traks was amaaaaaazing
    And game play changed & physic not good
    im happy didnt buy this game :|

    Very boring gameplay, poor shooting, poor cut scene direction, poor level design. The game turned out to be extremely monotonous and boring (worse than the original). This game has only one advantage - the design of the city/modern graphics.

    I'm just being redundant but Freeride is not free. You can do nothing, you can't save stolen cars in the garage, and side missions are gone, except for one or 2. Completely disappointed.

    Original 2002 Mafia is still better, graphics do not matter. Shame!

    Unfortunately, the game is just an empty shell of the original game. If this was released as a separate game, maybe I'd be an average game, but since it's a remake, I must rate it in comparsion with the original game from 2002. New version lacks depth, characters are made plain, there is no real story or character building. Game is just an arcade shooting with cutscenes.

    Original has many flaws, but the storytelling and immersion made me forgive the shortcoming, with the remake, it is the other way around. Unimportant things got improved, important ones got watered down.

    Maybe if I have not known original I would enjoy the game more, but I think I would still forget about story pretty fast, In comparsion it is not as memorable and there is definately much less attachment to it.

    From the technical side, I got stable FPS, game jsut was breaking down when I would minimalize it during the cutscene, hard restart was needed. But it was playable enough, not the worth thing around.    … Expand

    Not a remake but a reimagination of Mafia The City of Lost Heaven.

    Positives: 1) Great graphics. 2) Detailed environments. 3) Cars look and sound great. 4) They tried to fill plot holes and fix some oddities in the story. Negatives: 1) Lack of atmosphere. 2) Poor choice of music. Especially hated the music in racing mission because it sounds like it's from a generic family,    Not a remake but a reimagination of Mafia The City of Lost Heaven.

    4) They tried to fill plot holes and fix some oddities in the story.

    Negatives:
    1) Lack of atmosphere.
    2) Poor choice of music. Especially hated the music in racing mission because it sounds like it's from a generic family, children friendly comedy, adventure movie and not a fun and exciting racing music. Driving music is very boring background noise and nothing more. Many missions have weird unfitting music. Overall music is not terrible but not good either.
    3) Guns sound pathetic, weak. Original game had great gun sounds compared to this.
    4) Gunplay is very generic and overall boring. It feels like you are shooting a BB gun.
    5) Missions are not true to the original. Many small and big elements get changed, replaced or just removed. Even things that do not need any tweaking at all. Some of the environments are mirrored for no reason and take away from the original experience. Many action scenes are overdone and make it look and feel like any other generic shooter game etc.

    But here is the worst offense.
    6) Characters... Why?
    Paulie is so annoying that he actually becomes obnoxious. Especially his new voice and face which I hate.
    Sam is nothing like he was before.
    Don Salieri is meh at best.
    Vincenzo is now some weird mentally ill gun nut.
    Frank is too weird and creepy. He was a genuinely nice guy before.
    Tom... is nothing like he was before. Now he is nothing more than a thug.

    Oh! Ralph is decent and Sarah is actually nice. I like her.

    Overall this game is worth 5/10, maybe 6/10 at most. But I'm forced to give this 0/10 simply because there are people who give it 9/10 and 10/10 for no good reason. Essentially this is like Steams voting system. You either give it thumbs up or thumbs down and nothing inbetween.

    Cheap copy of the original game.
    Fight/Gunfight is a joke.
    Driving is a joke.
    Missions are very short.
    They keept somehow the storyline plot straight.
    Game graphic looks good.

    An awful remake, abnormally bad game. Some technical aspects of it are worse than in GTA III.
    * No public transport, you can't ride a train or tram, can't even enter platforms.
    * Animations are ridiculously fast, to the point of looking comical. Tom enters in vehicles in 0,8 seconds, pressing RMB magically teleports a weapon in your arm - faster than your eye blink. * Empty gas stations    An awful remake, abnormally bad game. Some technical aspects of it are worse than in GTA III.
    * No public transport, you can't ride a train or tram, can't even enter platforms.
    * Animations are ridiculously fast, to the point of looking comical. Tom enters in vehicles in 0,8 seconds, pressing RMB magically teleports a weapon in your arm - faster than your eye blink.
    * Empty gas stations with no workers in there.
    * You can't sit in a car and turn off the engine. Can't exit the car with the engine running. Can't use turn lights.
    * Crimes are reported even out in the countryside by invisible witnesses.
    * Sometimes police ignore dead bodies and only fine you for shooting people.
    * This super-stupid bump at the end of every cutscene, even if the cutscene is already overwhelmed with action.
    * Some dumb cutscenes, like one in the 15th chapter, where short-range submachine-gun shots don't wound a car driver/Morello nor do they immobilize the vehicle.
    * Horrid LODs on distant objects like buildings and vehicles.
    * Terrible AI.
    * Pop-in galore, to the point of cars and trains popping in right in front of you.
    * Textures are generally low resolution even on maxed settings. Heavy dithering. Extremely outdated graphics. No MSAA, FXAA, TAA settings in the graphics menu.
    * Sounds are generally weaker in quality than Mafia's. Lack of environmental audio. Guns sound like water guns.
    * Poor missions in Freeride Extreme that go further to unfold the crucial weaknesses of the core gameplay - the gunplay, the driving physics and the car damage model.
    * Magical concrete bushes in the countryside as an excuse to limit the ingame world.
    * No ability to kill gangsters in free ride. No gangsters driving around. No day/night cycle and money in the freeride. No ability to set the traffic and police density for the freeride.
    * Poor 1930s drift simulator. Cars of the 1930s feel like cars of the future. Mafia is ain't no Need For Speed.
    * Poor damage model on cars, smash into a wall at full speed does nothing. Cars don't bend into any shape like they did 18 years ago.
    * Devs-liars claimed this will feature an expanded story, but this game is shorter than Mafia II.
    * On classic difficulty, reload of pump-action rifles, rifles and revolvers make you lose unused ammo in the clip against any sense.
    * Soundtrack sounds like Woody Woodpecker OST. Really, beyond parody.
    * Terrible gunplay and cover system. Instead of a recoil, bullets are flying angled to the gun barrel like in CS:GO. You can't hit anyone.
    * The total absence of any bullet holes makes it even more impossible to analyze the bullet dispersion. Also, shells and clips aren't on the ground like they were 18 years ago.
    * Enemies don't stun when they suffer damage. They keep moving to cover when wounded in a leg.
    * Bullet wounds don't break off hostile melee attacks, not even for armless foes.
    * Intrusive toddler level waypoint markers telling you what to do and where to go at all times.
    * Outright horrible physics. When in the air, cars barely roll around the axises.    … Expand

    I have played all MAFIA games before but this game is just AMAZING, i loved the gameplay, the story is actually the best one i have seen in any game, driving is kind of weird but there is nothing else that is really wrong with this game (besides the usual bugs that may or may not occur) .

    there's **** you're putting car racing between your missions let that task go to your side. one of my least favorite situations. Are we playing my gangster game or need for speed? I didn't even care, I immediately returned the game. i will f. your game

    This is another game part that was clearly created by incompetent staff and was released early because, apparently, there is no desire to release a finished product anymore.

    Стрельба полный дурдом, а стрельба из машины-дурдом в горящем борделе при наводнении!
    Миссию на возвращение гоночной машины пройти нормальному человеку нереально! Я выжимаю максимум, никуда не врезаюсь, но времени всё равно не хватает, а иногда на дороге настоящий затор, видимо трафик для этой миссии прописать не додумались и отдали всё на волю случая!(здесь я удалил к собачьим пиписькам это "шедевр")
    Графика здесь- ну такое себе. Если повезет с оптимизацией, конечно.У меня при первом включении что-то пошло не так и ловил жутчайшие фризы, изменение настроек не помогало-пришлось переустановить и всё заработало(но осадочек, как говорится, остался и я начал думать о возврате).    … Expand

    This is a slap in the face for Mafia fans out there...This is just an overtutorialized basic and bad cover shooter, a shell of a game...The cast with all the new voices are just horrid and bland...I felt this game was parody of the original, no immersion anywhere.

    No gun shops, nor any restaurants to eat for health. Nothing to do or interact with in the world.

    Looks, feels and runs like Mafia 3.

    No interactive gas stations with clerk.

    Can't sit in car and turn off engine. Can't exit car with engine running. Can't turn on lights.

    No turn signals on any vehicles.

    Tommy shares many of the exact same animations of Lincoln from Mafia 3.

    Driving missions are hand-held and heavily rely on scripted cutscene action events.

    No buildings are enterable outside of missions.

    NPCs don't respond to you on street, and if they do its with one word.

    Many cars missing from the original.

    Tommy has been rewritten to be a cocky d-bag, complete opposite manners to Mafia 1.

    Same LOD issues on distant objects like buildings and vehicles like Mafia 3.

    Terrible AI.

    Graphics look similar to Mafia 2 with brightness turned up. "Amazing graphics" is hyperbole.

    Pop-in galore, to the point of cars and trains popping in in front of you.

    Textures are generally low resolution even on maxed settings.

    Atrociously poor lighting, the game will fade between odd shades of white, green and blue.

    Simulation driving mode is akin to a regular arcade driving mode.

    No realistic suicide doors on cars like Mafia 1.

    No car tuning options like Mafia 2.

    Poor damage model on cars, smash into wall at full speed does nothing.

    Can't open bonnet to repair car like in Mafia 2.
    Majority of music from the original is missing including all Mills Brothers and Belleville. Terrible gun play. No world interactivity like turning on lights, faucets, flushing toilets etc. Lack of bullet detail like entry holes on car tires. Bugs, glitches and generally poor quality control of the map. No spoilers, but the game ends with a rap song. I'll let that one speak for itself. Can't disable basic features like HUD, health bar or mini map. No money system, can't buy anything. "Tommy is not a trained soldier" was a lie. Avoid this blasphemy at all costs !    … Expand

    This game is dope. Man, this remake just changed the whole game atmosphera. The history break you heart deeply. Mafia II DE didn't make this great difference for me as Mafia I did.

    This is a full-fledged, honest to God remake. Some changes to the story will upset hardcore fans, but I think this approach is absolutely justified. Even though this remake is not as amazing as new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7, it’s still a worthy update.

    The main difference between the remake and the original game is that the latter was outstanding for its time, while the Definitive Edition is “merely” good. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. What’s crucial here is the fact that Hangar 13 approached the original’s narrative with proper respect and refrained from changing it too much. Mafia: Definitive Edition might not be remarkable as an open-world action game, but it still has the story worthy of the most revered gangster movies. [12/2020, p.28]

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of mixed flavours. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's great. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's awful. Mixture of aged mechanics and amazing graphics, new voices, great old story and some added, yet bad storylines, make it not such a perfect remake. But it sure is worth your time, whether you are a fan of the original or not. The moral of the story survived in all its glory, just be sure to focus your attention to the details where Mafia used to and still shines the most.
