    This is how you do a remake. I know hangar 13 doesnt have as much budget as rockstar but they still did their best with the budget available.

    Almost Perfect 9/10

    This remaked is beautifuly done and surely brings our memories back. Still sense the nostalgic with touch of recent graphic upgrade. Im enjoy this every moments.

    This remaster builds on this principle by maintaining and updating the graphical fidelity of the game while retaining most of the aspects of the story and above all else, the concepts and ideas of the original game’s missions.

    In turn, this remake also chooses to update the gameplay, adding multiple difficulty options that both provide the challenging experience from the original game, as well as a balanced and easier challenge more akin to the contemporary standards that players expect out of a game’s level of difficulty.

    This is a welcome addition as it is all of the different added upgrades to the visuals, Lost Haven is a beautifully recreated city based around Chicago, New York, and the San Francisco of the 1930’s, the city is brimming with detail, as I drove in the multiple missions of the game I could witness a strike outside of an auto shop, a sign departing my stay from the city as I neared the airport, and a fully functional set of bridges with even an area, in one mission -that remains optional-, where you take one of your companions to a brothel near the docks.

    There are also some pretty welcome additions, the game is fairly linear in its story using the open world more like a stage in which to present it, but there’s also the unlockable bonus mode “Free Ride” which serves as a sandbox open world mode allowing you to explore and play with complete liberty in the city. During the campaign and this additional mode, there are also period comics, from detective novels, to science fiction ones, they serve and contribute in creating the atmosphere of the time. On a later update after launch there was also an alternate visual mode added to Mafia; “The Noir Mode” as the name suggest, turns the picture into a black and white representation akin to classic gangster movies; thanks to the updated graphical fidelity in conjunction with this mode, this offers a unique way of playing through the campaign, truly enhancing in an alternate way both cutscenes and gameplay, capturing beautifully the atmosphere of the time and succeeding in the intentional, of making the game look -for the most part-, like a motion picture.

    If there are complaints for me, they arise with two aspects: one is the fact that when you shoot the enemies, they enter into a very exaggerated death animation that gives you the illusion you can keep damaging them, when in reality you can’t; if you try, your bullets will go right past them. My second complain also stems from the voice acting; you can get used to it (like I did) after a while, but at the beginning it was difficult for me to truly take the dialog seriously because of how exaggerated some of the accents were, especially the character of Paulie which is a fairly important character in the game.

    But like I said, this remake is an improvement on most levels, keeping what works (and still works from the original title) while updating it and adding more than just a visual upgrade to newcomers and past players alike. There might be some diehard fans that would always treasure the original experience above the one provided in this remake, but I personally couldn’t be happier with it.    … Expand

It would be even better to see the actors of the main characters in the DE return to continue their roles in a DLC, including the likes of Andrew Bongiorno (Tommy), Glenn Taranto (Don Salieri), Don DiPetta (Sam), Jeremy Luke (Paulie), Steven Oliver (Frank), Bella Popa (Sarah) etc.… Expand

    Not the biggest fan of 2k but as I consider the original one of my all time favourite games i had to try this one.
    Comparing it to all the other "remasters" popping up for old classics, this is actuall a good one.
    The story - well nothing to say here..it's a homerun. Graphics are really nice. I love the atmosphere of the city.

    *GRAPHICS*: Graphically and artistically excellent, the problem for which it doesn't have a perfect score are the animations.

    *SOUND*: While the soundtrack is fine, it's a point that Mafia III simply made perfect.

    *INNOVATION*: A good Mafia was needed at this point, and this remake gets it more than enough even with its drawbacks. It improves aspects of the original at a narrative level and improves more complex sections, like the Formula 1 race.    … Expand

Así que ahora que he tenido la ocasión de echarle mano al Mafia Definitive Edition no lo dude y he de reconocer que es un juegazo perfectamente rehecho para los tiempos pero manteniendo todo lo del original. Así que ahora que he tenido la ocasión de echarle mano al Mafia Definitive Edition no lo dude y he de reconocer que es un juegazo perfectamente rehecho para los tiempos pero manteniendo todo lo del original. Para los que no sepáis como va, no os esperéis un GTA en los años 30, pues Mafia es un juego muy narrativo donde vas progresando por las historias, no realmente un mundo abierto. Hay combate y tiroteos, sin duda, algunos incluso muy espectaculares, pero también muchas escenas de conducción (en muchas ocasiones incluso hay que seguir las normas de tráfico) así como algunas de sigilo. Todo ello en el marco de una historia fantástica de mafias, con conflicto de Dones, el papel de la policía y la corrupción, personajes muy bien llevados, etc.

    Gráficamente el juego está muy muy bien, capturando deliciosamente la estética y el feeling de la época. A nivel sonoro igual, desde los acentos de los personajes a las radios y las noticias que van dando, el sonido te transporta de lleno a los años 30. Y, al menos en mi experiencia, me he encontrado con algunos bugs pero poca cosa y poco importantes.

    Por todo ello, si quieres una experiencia narrativa de mafias, tiroteos y ley seca, entonces sin duda este es tu juego. Un 9.    … Expand

    The best game of my life just got a rework. I appreciate the work of hangar 13 that they had the idea to rework the game. And they did it well, and I still had teary eyes at the end of the game.

    Не буду долго разглагольствовать,все пацаны знают про Мафию. Что могу сказать,стрельба не как в оригинале,не говно,гонка все так же сложна,сюжет с парой корректировок прошел проверку временем,но немного создатели все же недокрутили(как и локализаторы),убрав,например,нелинейность в миссии на пароходе,или легендарный трек "Running Man".( Графика,как и в оригинале,шикарна в катсценах,но такаяНе буду долго разглагольствовать,все пацаны знают про Мафию. Что могу сказать,стрельба не как в оригинале,не говно,гонка все так же сложна,сюжет с парой корректировок прошел проверку временем,но немного создатели все же недокрутили(как и локализаторы),убрав,например,нелинейность в миссии на пароходе,или легендарный трек "Running Man".( Графика,как и в оригинале,шикарна в катсценах,но такая себе во время геймплея. Sicuramente meno ispirato in termini di meccaniche rispetto al secondo capitolo (meno modifiche alle auto, poliziotti meno attenti alle infrazioni) ma il racconto della vita di Angelo fa superare queste mancanze. Grafica non eccelsa ma di buon livello. GameplayUn ottimo remake, trama un po' spezzettata e forse leggermente confusionaria ma che non inficia di un buon godimento del titolo.     Perfect passing time, passed in 1 day, did not have time to get bored. Good story, good ending. Excellent eyeliner for part 2, you can not think of a better one. In general, the game about the mafia is made with a bang, the reissue looks great and is optimized so that even on my teapot it went without lags!

    bir taksi şoförünün mafya olmaya itiliş durumu aslında. Ancak hikaye aceleye getirilmeden öyle güzel işleniyor ki anlatılan her şeye ikna oluyorsunuz. Bir yandan da bir mafyaya dönüşmenin heyecanını yaşıyorsunuz. Şehir öylesine güzel tasvir edilmiş ki çoğu zaman bir oyunun içinde değil de geçmişte bir yerde yaşıyor gibi hissediyorsunuz.

    I liked the game, but the main thing keeping this game down is the pace at which you go through the story. You go through the story pretty fast, which makes this game very short. There isn't really anything to do in the game besides playing through the storyline, which doesn't really make this game feel like an open world game.     Maifa serisine yakışır bir oyun. Çıkmadan önce oyunun çok kötü olmasıyla ilgili içimde bir korku vardı, fakat oyunun gameplay videosunu izledikten sonra fikrim değişti. Oyun çıktığı gün de direk alıp oynadım. Bana sorarsanız oldukça güzel bir oyun. Bir çok kişi Mafia 3'e çok benzediğinden dolayı beğenmemiş ama bana sorarsanız arada gelişme var. Maifa DE'yi bitirdikten sonra bir de Mafia 3Maifa serisine yakışır bir oyun. Fakat çok kızdığım bir kısım var. Bu Remake'de Sarah'la sevişme sahnesi yok!!!!!!!! Nasıl olmaz abi ya! Biz bu oyunu ne için oynuyoruz?! Gerçekten ayıp... Onun dışında da eksikleri var. Mesela geliştirilmesini beklediğimiz açık dünya gerçekten çok vasat ve boş bir halde. Sadece birkaç kısa yan görev dışında açık dünyada yapılabilecek hiç bir şey yok. Daha da geliştirilmesini beklerdim. Ve aynı şekilde orijinal oyunda nitelikli olup bu oyunda olmayan kısımlar var. Örnek olarak orijinal oyunda 'OMERTA' isimli görevdeki Frank ile Tommy'nin konuştuğu sahne gerçekten çok güzel ve çok etkileyiciydi. Fakat bu oyunda gerçekten çok boş bir konuşma haline gelmiş.Onun dışında bana sorarsanız oyun çok güzel. Hikaye harika, çatışmalar çok zevkli, vuruş hissi çok güzel, araç sürüş mekanikleri harika, grafikler şahane. Yani bana sorarsanız her şey güzel. Mafia Definirtive Edition kesinlikle verdiğiniz paraya değen eğlenceli ve kaliteli bir oyun.… Expand

    Лично мне не хотелось играть в первую Мафию, по причине плохой графики. Поэтому я даже ждал этот ремейк! Да, разработчики совсем другие, и да, в этой части Томми получился менее серьёзным, нежели в оригинале (смотрел прохождение), но при этом нить сюжета не пропадает! Спасибо!

    Great remake, it looks very good and I'm happy the plot was not changed that much. I really enjoyed playing the original game and this edition brings out memories and gives you a lot of fun. If I had to change anything I'd add possibility to save the game at any point of time (some autosave take place in a very bad moment - once I needed to play whole mission from the beginning because IGreat remake, it looks very good and I'm happy the plot was not changed that much.     Очень понравилась графика и стрельба в этой игре.Сюжет,диалоги на высоте. Игра затянула в себя,рассматривать мир,любоваться этим -одно удовольствие. Но мафия 2 всё же была лучше

    It's a great remake of the Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. Well-balanced gameplay and pleasant graphics give me the exact emotions, which I felt when I played the original game. The only problem is the moral of the whole story. It's absolutely different and the moral of the original Mafia game was more suitable for this narrative, as for me.

    First time playing Mafia series and can say that i like this game. The story of Tommy reminded me Uncharted 4 with it's adventures and firefights. From negative can notice gameplay. Open world is useless, no quests, only horrible collectables. Drive physics is ok, I expected the worst from small studio. Can recommend it to everyone who like Uncharted-style games, one of the best remastersFirst time playing Mafia series and can say that i like this game.     Without being totally a current game, this remake of Mafia gives us the option to enjoy the classic game with more than acceptable graphic quality.

    The plot inherited from the original title is really good, and the experience itself is quite entertaining.

    I have played all MAFIA games before but this game is just AMAZING, i loved the gameplay, the story is actually the best one i have seen in any game, driving is kind of weird but there is nothing else that is really wrong with this game (besides the usual bugs that may or may not occur) .

    Ever since it's release, fans have been begging for more content in Mafia Definitive Edition. There are three things we most desperately want. Firstly, we'd love a DLC, with well-loved characters from the game. Extra gameplay and missions which tell the largely untold stories of how Sam and Paulie came to be in the family or the beginnings of the war between Morello and Salieri areEver since it's release, fans have been begging for more content in Mafia Definitive Edition. There are three things we most desperately want. Firstly, we'd love a DLC, with well-loved characters from the game. Extra gameplay and missions which tell the largely untold stories of how Sam and Paulie came to be in the family or the beginnings of the war between Morello and Salieri are desperately wanted. As fans, we want to see more from these characters that are even more incredibly interesting and complex thanks to the improved story and script. It would be even better to see the actors of the main characters in the DE return to continue their roles in a DLC, including the likes of Andrew Bongiorno (Tommy), Glenn Taranto (Don Salieri), Don DiPetta (Sam), Jeremy Luke (Paulie), Steven Oliver (Frank), Bella Popa (Sarah) etc.

    Secondly, Photo Mode is a desperate want. The game is beautiful and many of the missions allow for incredible views, unique locations and incredible effects for photos. This mode will allow players to take the photos they desperately want in a game that calls for it because of its beauty. It will also open up more space for community creation, as fans will be able to share what they produce, keeping the game interesting and exciting.

    Furthermore, the fans would love to see more content and additional gameplay for Free Ride. These could include being able to use more transportation (trains, trams) and open more spaces for exploration that were used in the game like the prison, different character's homes, the airport, the race track just to name a few. Additions of clothing stores and other interactable shops/business would be welcome too. In terms of gameplay, the fans would love to be able to battle against other gangs in this mode that can be initiated by the player or in new side missions. These could include taking over a gang hideout, stopping booze/merchandise runs, infiltrating businesses etc Characters like Vincenzo and Lucas Bertone could give players missions to do.

    This game has always been loved ever since the original came out in 2002. Now that the game has been released again, fully remade with beautiful graphics, a perfected story and script, amazingly talented cast of actors and updated gameplay, we want to see more added so that we can enjoy it even more.

А вот что бесит так это NPS на дороге они такие тупые сил нету дорогу не уступают, водители трамвая останавливаются прямо на дороге и высаживают пассажиров тем самым не дают проехать.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Right after start of game I was little disappointed. There isnt original music in main menu. Overall, new main menu isnt bad, but I liked old one more.
    Music in game is also slight disappointment. I miss some of those legendary songs. But again, it isnt bad overall.
    Driving is almost excelent but I am not a big fan of camera behaviour. I would also make normal driving mode more easy. Right now I cant really see a big difference between simulation and normal mode.
    Shooting is also very decent. Enemy animations could be better though. I also dont like how many bullets enemies can sometimes survive.
    Graphics is average. It feels like remaster of Mafia 2. I still liked it though. Good thing about this is that pc requirements are not that high. Some textures are off and some animations feel outdated, but not a big deal for me.
    Sound design is excelent in general. There are plenty of nice little details. Overall, audio provides very solid immersion.
    Story isnt exactly same like in original game, but I think they changed it mostly in positive way. Story line of Lucas is very poor compared to original game and I also dont like Ralph's story part. Very often you will completely avoid Ralph. On the other hand, Sara story line is significantly improved and I liked it a lot. In general, characters are more defined but their development is limited due to relatively short story.
    Atmosphere in the city is great, both night and day are awesome.
    In conclusion, I didnt feel like playing 2020 game, but it isnt necessary bad thing. Many things are limited due to fact it is remake. There isnt really any significant weakness about this remake though. I thing Hangar did decent job and majority of fans will be satisfied. Peraonally, I am satisfied.     Storytelling, good voice acting and motion capture are pretty good. Descent graphics and pretty city. Runs flawlessly on ryzen 3600 with 3600MHz CL16 ram with 1080 ti in 1440p maxed out settings.

    - Graphics are quite good, lighting is quite believable, reflections are nicely done although we don't have proper mirrors (seriously, what's with Hangar 13 basic indoor mirrors? Mafia 3 had this issue, but then Mafia 2 has perfectly working mirrors... I know they're expensive to make, performance wise, the "old way" but well...it's 2020, come on). Still, the graphics look most of the time a step up compared to Mafia 3, overall they're very nice.

    - Car handling is mostly fine, but you need a gamepad to enjoy it. I didn't use simulation mode as I dislike too much vehicle simulation in games. I know some purists of the series do love their vehicle simulation, and they're saying cars were even better in the original, so I don't know. To me, they handled very smoothly, definitely better than Mafia 2's, maybe similar to Mafia 3's, possibly better.

    - The story...I mean, it's Mafia, the story is nice, but knowing what happens at every chapter of course means it didn't exactly feel as shocking and interesting as the very first time. Still, not having played the original since it came out helped with that a bit :P.
    Most dialogue has been re-done, so even if you know the story pretty well, the script has changed a bit. They did a lot of work on this, clearly.

    - The connection with Mafia 2 was nicely implemented and a nice touch (I expected this), if you know what I mean, if you don't...then you don't :P

    - Performance is mostly quite decent, on my Ryzen 5 3600 and GTX 1070 combo. This game runs much better than Mafia 3 when it released, way better, so overall quite happy with how it ran on my PC with these specs.

    What I didn't like:

    - No Photo Mode: enough said.

    - Some bugs and small kinks present in Mafia 3, due to the engine, are also in this game, like for example Fullscreen mode locked at 60 Hz or some keybinds shenanigans. There are workarounds but still, I’m not giving it a higher score just for this, TBH, no excuses.

    - As I said, not a purist of the series, but there have been some downgrades in several "immersive" features from the original: Public transport is one, we cannot use those anymore, despite being there in the game and we can see them. It's not too important to me, but having it wouldn't have cost much, even with a loading screen or something.

    - Music: even though the tracks in the game are nice, I think this game is missing a ton of old tracks from the original, even some very iconic ones. I understand music rights are not cheap, but they could have added more new tracks, perhaps, I don't know, I'm not a music expert either but somehow I remember the original tracks more than I enjoyed these new ones, the ones that were new, or remade, that is.

    - Gunplay: while the game feels better to play in combat, than the original, we have cover now, the overall gunplay feels a bit too simple. It's still better than the old classic style, also because the old style made the game a lot harder to play, but overall the new "Mafia 3" style didn't made me feel much of a badass either. It's just there...not special.

    - Side Missions/Jobs: this was implemented terribly, if you can call it "implemented" at all. We don't have "freetime" anymore while doing the main campaign, so when Lucas Bertone tells us "hey, I might have work for you, come see me", we don't get free time to do so, or asked to go there, ever. You can go, pick the postcards up, and find the hidden cars, sure, but it's like it's not even there. I didn't like this...I know Mafia has always been a very linear experience, but they should've improved this, and added some more stuff to do and enjoy the amazing recreation they did of the original map.

    - The world is pretty under used, it has lots of places to go a visit, but nothing else to do there. They have added 50 fox statues collectibles, and exploring the world...may land you on one of those...maybe but yeah, the world feels dead especially on the outskirts.
    They could have done so much more with this, and Freeride doesn't fix this, it makes it even more evident how much wasted potential there is. There are some challenges in Freeride, sure, but still the world is big enough and feels pretty dead without much to do out of the campaign.

    All in all, it was a decent replay of this exciting story, for what it's worth, and the decent price, not a full 60€ game, it was fine.

    But these are my views and opinions, that is all, I liked the game, but it could've been a bit more than what we got.    … Expand

Story was fantastic with a great voice cast with the majority of cutscenes played out in realtime visuals. It feels alot like mafia 2 but with the visuals similar to M3.     Great Game , sadly i haven´t played the original one yet but i have to say that this is one of the best games ive ever played. Great story a good graphic but sadly the game is pretty short, it would have been nice if there were a few more hours to play , if the game would be a bit longer i would give 10 points .     12 hours of pure fun, just incredible, i felt like i was watching a Godfather like movie were i could interact with it, simply amazing, beautifull game.
    I recomend it but 40 bucks might be too much for some, soo wait for a sale and get it for 10/20 bucks

    This is a full-fledged, honest to God remake. Some changes to the story will upset hardcore fans, but I think this approach is absolutely justified. Even though this remake is not as amazing as new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7, it’s still a worthy update.

    The main difference between the remake and the original game is that the latter was outstanding for its time, while the Definitive Edition is “merely” good. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. What’s crucial here is the fact that Hangar 13 approached the original’s narrative with proper respect and refrained from changing it too much. Mafia: Definitive Edition might not be remarkable as an open-world action game, but it still has the story worthy of the most revered gangster movies. [12/2020, p.28]

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of mixed flavours. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's great. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's awful. Mixture of aged mechanics and amazing graphics, new voices, great old story and some added, yet bad storylines, make it not such a perfect remake. But it sure is worth your time, whether you are a fan of the original or not. The moral of the story survived in all its glory, just be sure to focus your attention to the details where Mafia used to and still shines the most.
