    A Great Story rich game. As someone who hasn't played the original. This was a great game. Really enjoyed the plot unfolding and the characters were amazing as well.

    This game oozes atmosphere, great remake. Really enjoyed the story, gameplay is good enough. Don't buy this one for the gameplay, if you like mobster stories this one is as good as any Scorcese on screen.

    This remaster builds on this principle by maintaining and updating the graphical fidelity of the game while retaining most of the aspects of the story and above all else, the concepts and ideas of the original game’s missions.

    In turn, this remake also chooses to update the gameplay, adding multiple difficulty options that both provide the challenging experience from the original game, as well as a balanced and easier challenge more akin to the contemporary standards that players expect out of a game’s level of difficulty.

    This is a welcome addition as it is all of the different added upgrades to the visuals, Lost Haven is a beautifully recreated city based around Chicago, New York, and the San Francisco of the 1930’s, the city is brimming with detail, as I drove in the multiple missions of the game I could witness a strike outside of an auto shop, a sign departing my stay from the city as I neared the airport, and a fully functional set of bridges with even an area, in one mission -that remains optional-, where you take one of your companions to a brothel near the docks.

    There are also some pretty welcome additions, the game is fairly linear in its story using the open world more like a stage in which to present it, but there’s also the unlockable bonus mode “Free Ride” which serves as a sandbox open world mode allowing you to explore and play with complete liberty in the city. During the campaign and this additional mode, there are also period comics, from detective novels, to science fiction ones, they serve and contribute in creating the atmosphere of the time. On a later update after launch there was also an alternate visual mode added to Mafia; “The Noir Mode” as the name suggest, turns the picture into a black and white representation akin to classic gangster movies; thanks to the updated graphical fidelity in conjunction with this mode, this offers a unique way of playing through the campaign, truly enhancing in an alternate way both cutscenes and gameplay, capturing beautifully the atmosphere of the time and succeeding in the intentional, of making the game look -for the most part-, like a motion picture.

    If there are complaints for me, they arise with two aspects: one is the fact that when you shoot the enemies, they enter into a very exaggerated death animation that gives you the illusion you can keep damaging them, when in reality you can’t; if you try, your bullets will go right past them. My second complain also stems from the voice acting; you can get used to it (like I did) after a while, but at the beginning it was difficult for me to truly take the dialog seriously because of how exaggerated some of the accents were, especially the character of Paulie which is a fairly important character in the game.

    But like I said, this remake is an improvement on most levels, keeping what works (and still works from the original title) while updating it and adding more than just a visual upgrade to newcomers and past players alike. There might be some diehard fans that would always treasure the original experience above the one provided in this remake, but I personally couldn’t be happier with it.    … Expand

    Storytelling, good voice acting and motion capture are pretty good. Descent graphics and pretty city. Runs flawlessly on ryzen 3600 with 3600MHz CL16 ram with 1080 ti in 1440p maxed out settings.

The story pacing gives no way to make the main game open world, unfortunately, but the pacing of this game mode made it straightforward, which I believe was a good decision in a world of exhausting open world games with shallow, boring and almost unnecessary side quests.     The experience on the linear story mode alone is enough to make it a worthwhile purchase though because the game is crafted with beautiful graphics, good acting, simple but fun gameplay, and interesting narrative. Is it a good remake? I do not have knowledge about the original Mafia, so I cannot give comment about that. But is it a good game? Absolutely.    … Expand

Even after 18 years, Mafia looks great, but here they changed the dialogues very much and updated the regessura. The game takes place in 2 evenings and is beautiful. I did not play the original, but for me the remake of Mafia is the best in the series. Yes, there are shortcomings like a cliff ending, an accelerated 3 part of the plot. But the game costs $40. Great gameplay and a well-served plot. And optimization pleased, my PC with medium characteristics pulled the game on the maximum preset of graphics with 40 + FPS, it is worthy of respect.… Expand

    on va dire qu'il est juste un cran en dessous a cause de ses quelques bugs et ses anumations plus rigidez que re2 remake.
    autrement il fantastique, et c'est un réel plaisir l'ambiance de mafia 2002 avec des graphismes de cette qualité. hangar 13 s'est vraiment sorti les doigt pour ce remake. et surtout ils n'ont pas faits    J'estime que ce remake quasiment aussi bon que celui de re2 ,

    This is one of the best releases of this year. Game is classic, even it's original is aged well, but this remake is everything that remake should be - they didn't changed much of gameplay or story, added HD textures, effects, decals and details, polished cutscenes, etc. And the result is nearly perfect. The only thing in which this game isn't perfect is shooting. It's not bad at all, butThis is one of the best releases of this year. Game is classic, even it's original is aged well, but this remake is everything that remake should be - they didn't changed much of gameplay or story, added HD textures, effects, decals and details, polished cutscenes, etc. And the result is nearly perfect.     This remaked is beautifuly done and surely brings our memories back. Still sense the nostalgic with touch of recent graphic upgrade. Im enjoy this every moments.

    Hangar 13 made a great remake in my opinion.
    Of course, it is noticeable that the game was created on the Mafia 3 engine. However, the engine was upgraded. 1. The shooting remained unchanged (as it seemed to me). This is a plus for me. I love shooting Mafia 3. 2.The physics of the car is many times better    I want to take stock after 13 hours of death and suffering on classic difficulty.

    Mafia es un juego que en su momento me flipaba pero no pude terminarlo porque tenía el CD rayado o algo por el estilo. Así que ahora que he tenido la ocasión de echarle mano al Mafia Definitive Edition no lo dude y he de reconocer que es un juegazo perfectamente rehecho para los tiempos pero manteniendo todo lo del original. Para los que no sepáis como va, no os esperéis un GTA en los añosMafia es un juego que en su momento me flipaba pero no pude terminarlo porque tenía el CD rayado o algo por el estilo. Así que ahora que he tenido la ocasión de echarle mano al Mafia Definitive Edition no lo dude y he de reconocer que es un juegazo perfectamente rehecho para los tiempos pero manteniendo todo lo del original. Para los que no sepáis como va, no os esperéis un GTA en los años 30, pues Mafia es un juego muy narrativo donde vas progresando por las historias, no realmente un mundo abierto. Hay combate y tiroteos, sin duda, algunos incluso muy espectaculares, pero también muchas escenas de conducción (en muchas ocasiones incluso hay que seguir las normas de tráfico) así como algunas de sigilo. Todo ello en el marco de una historia fantástica de mafias, con conflicto de Dones, el papel de la policía y la corrupción, personajes muy bien llevados, etc.

    Gráficamente el juego está muy muy bien, capturando deliciosamente la estética y el feeling de la época. A nivel sonoro igual, desde los acentos de los personajes a las radios y las noticias que van dando, el sonido te transporta de lleno a los años 30. Y, al menos en mi experiencia, me he encontrado con algunos bugs pero poca cosa y poco importantes.

    Por todo ello, si quieres una experiencia narrativa de mafias, tiroteos y ley seca, entonces sin duda este es tu juego. Un 9.    … Expand

Полностью русская локализация(на очень высоком уровне, уши радуются этим голосам), графика прекрасна, детализация на хорошем уровне, физика и управление машин выше всех похвал, звуки и музыка в игре заслуживают отдельной высокой похвалы, сюжет и катсцены переносят тебя и дают почувствовать тебе то, что было в те далёкие 30ые годы прошлого века(это простоОчень достойный ремейк 1ой мафии! Полностью русская локализация(на очень высоком уровне, уши радуются этим голосам), графика прекрасна, детализация на хорошем уровне, физика и управление машин выше всех похвал, звуки и музыка в игре заслуживают отдельной высокой похвалы, сюжет и катсцены переносят тебя и дают почувствовать тебе то, что было в те далёкие 30ые годы прошлого века(это просто невероятно)!

    Но у игры есть небольшие минусы: боёвка в рукопашную выглядит слишком тривиальной и какой-то не доделанной(выглядит очень убого как-то). То как главный герой бросает коктейли молотова и гранаты - выглядит очень убого и не естественно(он просто достаёт из пиджака и кидает, не снимая чеку с гранаты или не поджигает молотов).

    На этом всё, общая оценка за данный ремейк: 9/10, есть небольшие огрехи для меня, но они не слишком сильно занизили оценку на данную игру, всё таки она получилась если не идеальной, то очень даже не плохой.    … Expand

    This is a full-fledged, honest to God remake. Some changes to the story will upset hardcore fans, but I think this approach is absolutely justified. Even though this remake is not as amazing as new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7, it’s still a worthy update.

    The main difference between the remake and the original game is that the latter was outstanding for its time, while the Definitive Edition is “merely” good. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. What’s crucial here is the fact that Hangar 13 approached the original’s narrative with proper respect and refrained from changing it too much. Mafia: Definitive Edition might not be remarkable as an open-world action game, but it still has the story worthy of the most revered gangster movies. [12/2020, p.28]

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of mixed flavours. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's great. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's awful. Mixture of aged mechanics and amazing graphics, new voices, great old story and some added, yet bad storylines, make it not such a perfect remake. But it sure is worth your time, whether you are a fan of the original or not. The moral of the story survived in all its glory, just be sure to focus your attention to the details where Mafia used to and still shines the most.
