    Things that bug me the most are the instant wanted level, a monetary system that is not in the game, lack of traffic variety in late game, and not being able to use trains and trams.

    Wouldn't expect any less of these lazy devs. Gaming industry sucks nowadays.

Das Spiel MAFIA hat einmal Maßstäbe gesetzt und ich finde die gelten zu einem großen Teil bis heute an. Die Grafik und der Umgang mit den Ressourcen war für damalige Verhältnisse Beispielhaft. Es ist nicht mehr möglich die Tram oder den Zug zu benutzen. Der "Freie Fahrt" Modus bietet ebenso nicht mehr den gleichen Spaß, weil die Gegner, die man in der alten Version "einfach so zum Kampf auffordern" konnte, gibt es nicht mehr. Auch wenn ich es noch nicht 1:1 verglichen habe, die neue Version erscheint mir deutlich kürzer. Die "Filmszenen" deutlich zu viel und zu lang. Sie verhindern oft einfach dass man endlich weiter spielen kann. Dinge die in Mafia II ein Gewinn waren, fehlen leider, obwohl das doch die Chance gewesen wäre, damit der alte Version noch etwas mehr Pfiff zu geben.

All NPC s get on the tram and train, but I am not allowed to enter there, the player cannot access anywhere. Walking around the city, I did not come across anything playable in the area. Only a few missions from the bar took worthless. The developer has also changed and shortened part of the original storyline. Lucas Burton is now in an abridged version of freeride. I'm shocked by what is happening. This can be called the definitive edition of the "Definitive Edition" This is a brazen deception! Take my money again, but please don't mislead the players.     Ever since it's release, fans have been begging for more content in Mafia Definitive Edition. There are three things we most desperately want. Firstly, we'd love a DLC, with well-loved characters from the game. Extra gameplay and missions which tell the largely untold stories of how Sam and Paulie came to be in the family or the beginnings of the war between Morello and Salieri areEver since it's release, fans have been begging for more content in Mafia Definitive Edition. There are three things we most desperately want. Firstly, we'd love a DLC, with well-loved characters from the game. Extra gameplay and missions which tell the largely untold stories of how Sam and Paulie came to be in the family or the beginnings of the war between Morello and Salieri are desperately wanted. As fans, we want to see more from these characters that are even more incredibly interesting and complex thanks to the improved story and script. It would be even better to see the actors of the main characters in the DE return to continue their roles in a DLC, including the likes of Andrew Bongiorno (Tommy), Glenn Taranto (Don Salieri), Don DiPetta (Sam), Jeremy Luke (Paulie), Steven Oliver (Frank), Bella Popa (Sarah) etc.

    Secondly, Photo Mode is a desperate want. The game is beautiful and many of the missions allow for incredible views, unique locations and incredible effects for photos. This mode will allow players to take the photos they desperately want in a game that calls for it because of its beauty. It will also open up more space for community creation, as fans will be able to share what they produce, keeping the game interesting and exciting.

    Furthermore, the fans would love to see more content and additional gameplay for Free Ride. These could include being able to use more transportation (trains, trams) and open more spaces for exploration that were used in the game like the prison, different character's homes, the airport, the race track just to name a few. Additions of clothing stores and other interactable shops/business would be welcome too. In terms of gameplay, the fans would love to be able to battle against other gangs in this mode that can be initiated by the player or in new side missions. These could include taking over a gang hideout, stopping booze/merchandise runs, infiltrating businesses etc Characters like Vincenzo and Lucas Bertone could give players missions to do.

    This game has always been loved ever since the original came out in 2002. Now that the game has been released again, fully remade with beautiful graphics, a perfected story and script, amazingly talented cast of actors and updated gameplay, we want to see more added so that we can enjoy it even more.

    An awful remake, abnormally bad game. Some technical aspects of it are worse than in GTA III.
    * No public transport, you can't ride a train or tram, can't even enter platforms.
    * Animations are ridiculously fast, to the point of looking comical. Tom enters in vehicles in 0,8 seconds, pressing RMB magically teleports a weapon in your arm - faster than your eye blink. * Empty gas stations    An awful remake, abnormally bad game.     * You can't sit in a car and turn off the engine. Can't exit the car with the engine running. Can't use turn lights.
    * Crimes are reported even out in the countryside by invisible witnesses.
    * Sometimes police ignore dead bodies and only fine you for shooting people.
    * This super-stupid bump at the end of every cutscene, even if the cutscene is already overwhelmed with action.
    * Some dumb cutscenes, like one in the 15th chapter, where short-range submachine-gun shots don't wound a car driver/Morello nor do they immobilize the vehicle.
    * Horrid LODs on distant objects like buildings and vehicles.
    * Terrible AI.
    * Pop-in galore, to the point of cars and trains popping in right in front of you.
    * Textures are generally low resolution even on maxed settings. Heavy dithering. Extremely outdated graphics. No MSAA, FXAA, TAA settings in the graphics menu.
    * Sounds are generally weaker in quality than Mafia's. Lack of environmental audio. Guns sound like water guns.
    * Poor missions in Freeride Extreme that go further to unfold the crucial weaknesses of the core gameplay - the gunplay, the driving physics and the car damage model.
    * Magical concrete bushes in the countryside as an excuse to limit the ingame world.
    * No ability to kill gangsters in free ride. No gangsters driving around. No day/night cycle and money in the freeride. No ability to set the traffic and police density for the freeride.
    * Poor 1930s drift simulator. Cars of the 1930s feel like cars of the future. Mafia is ain't no Need For Speed.
    * Poor damage model on cars, smash into a wall at full speed does nothing. Cars don't bend into any shape like they did 18 years ago.
    * Devs-liars claimed this will feature an expanded story, but this game is shorter than Mafia II.
    * On classic difficulty, reload of pump-action rifles, rifles and revolvers make you lose unused ammo in the clip against any sense.
    * Soundtrack sounds like Woody Woodpecker OST. Really, beyond parody.
    * Terrible gunplay and cover system. Instead of a recoil, bullets are flying angled to the gun barrel like in CS:GO. You can't hit anyone.
    * The total absence of any bullet holes makes it even more impossible to analyze the bullet dispersion. Also, shells and clips aren't on the ground like they were 18 years ago.
    * Enemies don't stun when they suffer damage. They keep moving to cover when wounded in a leg.
    * Bullet wounds don't break off hostile melee attacks, not even for armless foes.
    * Intrusive toddler level waypoint markers telling you what to do and where to go at all times.
    * Outright horrible physics. When in the air, cars barely roll around the axises.    … Expand

    Was hoping for Mafia 1 with modern graphics, this is not it.
    Ok, story is still great but the game is missing the feeling what original has, it is just mission after mission nonstop.
    All sidequests are missing and driving around city between them gone, no using train or tramline either or repairing cars.
    Original was better in gameplay and story.

The control scheme is a button-mashing nightmare, and it seems like every new release in this series removes more and more of what made the previous ones fun.     If they would have simply stuck with Mafia 2-style gameplay and added the time period and very good graphics improvements they actually did get right here, they would have hit it out of the park . . .but this sadly misses at every turn, sad really, it could have been so much better . . .

    A very short game cut out 30% of the content from the original version. in Free mode cut 90% of all that was a joy to play the original. This "corona virus covid" game is made stupidly and very stupidly, easy and simple to let it into release for disappointment.

    The developer just picked up and copied the not-quite-good way the original 2002 game. Made it not accurately and clumsily, the missions are shortened and cut in a rough way, even less than it was in the original version, there is no interaction of the tram with the train for the game.     Oh my god, the game has been ruined and it's a freaking stupid twisted remake and an empty world of no action. The whole story of the legend is turned inside out! This piece of crap should have another name. Don't play it unless you want a stab of disappointment compared to the original.

    Crap happens, but it happened with the so-called DEFINITIVE EDITION of the MAFIA game! Not self-respecting Hangar-13 at least would understand what makes the history of the MAFIA game and just made a CASTRATED puppy. What a laziness in this work, there are no patches, you can only expect from experienced modders, maybe they, like the 2nd mafia, will also revive the game.

    I did not expect that bought the game after a year, it nebylo not a single update. The story is greatly reduced, in the free ride can not use the famous streetcar and train, as it was in the 1st original game. This game is not finished until the finale and apparently it was abandoned without refinement.

    Beautiful graphics and great cinematics and thats about it. It will take you less than 10 hours to complete this game. It has simple game mechanics and difficulty. No side quests or any reason to explore the world, even less than in the distant original that there is no to use trains with trams in the walk. Car mechanics, those hyper realistic -manual/automatic gear- combined with responsive detailed physics are gone. Police? even in the classic mode is nothing compared to fun the pain in the ass (in the good sense) that was in the original one, chases are reduced to S. Secondary Lucas Bertone missions gone. Lockpicking minigame gone. The playground to shootouts are this generic boxes to find cover that sets the mood away, always a marker telling you what to do. Then there is this narrative all over the place, some dialogues are good, most of them cheesy and make no sense to the character depth. Although they tried to gave more story to characters they end up making desicions because of this new adjustments that don't adhere. The carefully crafted narrative missions like Visiting Rich People or Moonlighting are completely butchered and the developers didn't got it right. This game is mediocre and it reaches this status because of the excellent blueprint the original one provides. For those who just want a "meh game"that will be forgotten in 5 months this is your game. Lucky ones that didn't have this appreciation to the original one.     Isn't faithful to the original. Main characters are completely changed along with major plot points. Only a few songs actually return from the original soundtrack which is very disappointing. The freedom of the original level designs are long gone and replaced with linear shooting galleries. The checkpoint system is a disaster. It's also incredibly sad how they removed riding on trains and trolley cars. Even the original 2002 game had that. I just think it goes to show that the game needed more time in the oven. They tried being more faithful by adding in classic mode which is a good mode, but it was just little too late. On a good note the graphics are amazing. The game can be fun at times, especially the Hotel Corleone mission (one of the few missions that actually saw an improvement.) Overall, I can't see myself playing this for a year much less 18 years like I have the original. I think the biggest error was not consulting the original director. This game left me feeling uneasy, and made me feel like I was playing a plagiarized product.… Expand

    Nearly all of the iconic missions that made this game so enjoyable have been changed to the worse: The airport mission Omerta with Frank is    I hoped for a repolished Mafia game, and to some extend this game does deliver that. However, for anyone who loved the original game this game will just be a massive disappointment: Its an empty shell, a blant remake of a uniquely immersive game.

    Nearly all of the iconic missions that made this game so enjoyable have been changed to the worse: The airport mission Omerta with Frank is unrecognisable, the port mission - Lucky Bastard - is crippled to a point... its **** the prison mission - election campaign - is an easy peasy run through. Tram with train not to use. Summa summarum all the iconic missions of the original Mafia are there but they are empty, streamlined, shells.

    Probably the worst part is that the Lucas Bertone missions fully disappeared, and Yellow Pete - the secret gunshop - too. Tommy being able to arm himself up to the teeth before driving to the museum shoot out was probably the peak of the entire game (!) cause the game didnt tell you that!

    In short, this game is a total disappointment . Buy the original one, get some grapfic mods and enjoy the true and only Mafia game there ever was.

    Я не знаю как можно что то сказать про эту игру без мата. Её делали не люди, даже у макак вышло бы адекватнее. Это самая .... Нет, без мата не возмодно. Геймплейно это мусор, Но история ничё так, норм.

Разрабам надо было то всего лишь перенести первую часть на допиленное двигло третьей части и добавить нового контента к уже имеющемуся. Но они всё только испортили. Я после этого высера за 2000 рублей, запустил первую часть и просто кайфанул. Графика да, не конкурентДумал переплюнет первую часть... Но нет.     I'm just being redundant but Freeride is not free. You can do nothing, you can't save stolen cars in the garage, and side missions are gone, except for one or 2. Completely disappointed.

    Original 2002 Mafia is still better, graphics do not matter. Shame!

    Офигенная игра в ней почти все хорошо особенно офигенно что можно ездить на машине и самому переключать передачи это сделано круто. А вот что бесит так это NPS на дороге они такие тупые сил нету дорогу не уступают, водители трамвая останавливаются прямо на дороге и высаживают пассажиров тем самым не дают проехать. Копы полные дебилы если ты случайно проедешь рядом с NPS и заденешь его тоОфигенная игра в ней почти все хорошо особенно офигенно что можно ездить на машине и самому переключать передачи это сделано круто. А вот что бесит так это NPS на дороге они такие тупые сил нету дорогу не уступают, водители трамвая останавливаются прямо на дороге и высаживают пассажиров тем самым не дают проехать.     1. Не позволяйте себя одурить: игра НЕ выглядит так, как ее презентуют на скриншотах и в трейлерах.

    Ну а что не так-то? Создалось впечатление, что почти всё не так. Вместо того, чтобы проанализировать и оставить все, за что так любили первую Мафию, ее главные изюминки просто выковыряли, вставили дешевые аркадные приемчики, а атмосферу просто убили. Нужно умудриться запороть возможность сделать шикарный римейк на шикарный оригинал.

    Что вырезали:

    Сюжет:

    - Вы не сможете заехать к Луке после очередной миссии и украть новую тачку - такого больше нет
    - Ральф больше не будет нас учить взламывать замки, вы просто это умеете
    - В большинстве случаев вам не нужно будет ехать обратно домой после миссии
    - Гонку сделали более заскриптованной
    - Не доступны поезда и трамвай
    - Отклонение от линейного сюжета прерывает всю игру

    Прогулка:

    - Нельзя поехать на поезде или трамвае
    - Банда Морелло в больше не патрулирует улицы
    - Деньги теперь всегда есть и всегда бесконечные
    - "Большая прогулка" и "Прогулка" теперь один режим, причем вы больше не найдете те безумные миссии с анлоками необычных машин - большинство просто убрали. Вместо большой прогулки - суррогат в виде парочки миссий, в качестве награды можете открыть, например костюм клоуна или золотой Томми-ган

    Общее:

    - Нормальный прицел - извольте "целиться" через огромный кружок. Кто там знает толк в извращениях?
    - Нельзя точно целиться из машины (есть автоприцел-липучка, который будет за вас фиксироваться на целой машине).
    - Почти все светофоры, но парочку оставили
    - Возможность прокатиться на трамвае / надземке. Что примечательно, боты не лишены такой возможности, но вот к поезду вы даже близко не подойдете, т.к. ворота на все станциях перевязаны цепью с замком. Забавно видеть, как боты там запертые стоят наверху.
    - Остановить / Завести двигатель
    - Здравый смысл. Пешеходы могут почти мгновенно позвать копов из ниоткуда - в Америке 30х годов без сотовых.

    - Синдром

    Не могу сдержаться и не съязвить еще раз о "современных стандартах" .. знаете что нас ждет после окончания сюжета? Журнальчики, вкладыши и лисички, Карл! Они разбросаны по всей карте, иди и собери их всех, покемон ты наш. Зачем? Для ачивки. lol

    Не рекомендую, если хотите сохранить теплые воспоминания о любимой игре.
    Просто обидно, что люди, не игравшие в оригинал, подумают, что это и есть "та самая" Mafia.    … Expand

    This is a full-fledged, honest to God remake. Some changes to the story will upset hardcore fans, but I think this approach is absolutely justified. Even though this remake is not as amazing as new versions of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7, it’s still a worthy update.

    The main difference between the remake and the original game is that the latter was outstanding for its time, while the Definitive Edition is “merely” good. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth your time. What’s crucial here is the fact that Hangar 13 approached the original’s narrative with proper respect and refrained from changing it too much. Mafia: Definitive Edition might not be remarkable as an open-world action game, but it still has the story worthy of the most revered gangster movies. [12/2020, p.28]

    Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of mixed flavours. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's great. Some elements are just as they used to be, and it's awful. Mixture of aged mechanics and amazing graphics, new voices, great old story and some added, yet bad storylines, make it not such a perfect remake. But it sure is worth your time, whether you are a fan of the original or not. The moral of the story survived in all its glory, just be sure to focus your attention to the details where Mafia used to and still shines the most.
