  • Summary: The Special Edition corrects a number of flaws and adds several new features but somehow ends up being only a tiny bit more appealing than its predecessor.

I decided to try it out, and despite its age, it held up really well. This game focuses a lot on exploration, combat, and unit upkeep. There are upgrades to towns/cities, but I wouldn't consider it a town building game, which is a good thing! There are lots of classes to choose from at the beginning, but once you conquer another kingdom, you take complete control over them and their units. So the closer to victory you become, the harder it is to upkeep. Slow and steady really wins the race, so expect putting in a couple dozen hours at least to finish the main campaign. There is good amount of replay-ability and even some DLC to make sure you get your money's worth. There are some ease of life issue, but not anything major enough to keep me from playing! Expand
