Or ignore them and they may send a plague on your people. And you may be looked upon as an impious fool by your neighbors. Please your neighbors and they will leave you alone or even help you. Annoy them and they may come to raid you or take your land if you are too weak to defend yourself. Treat your people justly and they will support you, or treat them badly and they may overthrow your rule
Genre-wise, it is a resource management and diplomacy simulation game. There are three principle things to consider: Your people, the other clans and the gods. You cannot please everyone. So you must find out who you have to please and who you can bully a little. The ring, your clan leaders, will help you with making decisions by giving you advice. But they do not always know what's right....
The game comes with a ton of events that can take place, ranging from people seeking refuge to members of different clan accusing your trickster of fondling their wife, all of which allow for a wide range of actions, and opening up different stories, depending on your success in dealing with these situations.
The gameplay is very deep and it really feels like the game remembers EVERYTHING you do or say. Also, this game is very challenging. You should definitely start on "easy" when playing for the first time.
There are, however, also some points that bother me in the game.
First, there is too much randomness. Although it is definitely a feature of the game that the outcome of a particular action is not entirely predictable, the spread of different outcomes is sometimes too wide, particularly concerning battles. You can either get an overwhelming victory or a stunning defeat, even if your own army is much larger than the enemies'. You can get any kind of outcome as long a you keep reloading your saved game long enough...
There are also a few bugs. Most notably, the game doesn't always realize if you are allied with a clan. Your advisers sometimes suggest sending a plague or bad spirits to another clan which supposedly has a bad relationship with yours, not noting that they are your allies. Also, at the tribal stage clan of an allied tribe will attack your, starting an event related to their breach of peace. The clans that attack you are apparently random, without taking clan alliances into account. And the event will never mention that the attacking clan actually broke two alliances. Needless to say that the attacks from the allied clans automatically stop as soon as the tribal alliance is broken.
To conclude: This game is addicting and very immersive. Be warned. It is a lot of fun to play because a lot of unexpected things can happen. Occasionally, events are illogical, breaking the immersion. Howeve, I definitely recommend giving it a try.… Expand
