    Just Cause 4 is worst open world game of all time. All they had were tornadoes, everything else was awful.

    Originally back in 2018 the game had a lot of issues, including severe performance issues but for me the game was at least playable until a patch literally broke the game entirely making it unplayable and I stopped playing even though I was about 30 hours into the game, I was having fun and it wasn't too bad, so I decided to go back and see if they fixed all the problems today 12/9/2021...

    That was a big mistake, the game now is an unplayable mess! Sure they fixed the performance issues but now, the gameplay is a dire mess. Now, you shoot one soldier and get the attention of the enemy who will respond with overwhelming force, imagine Just Cause "heat system" but now shooting one soldier immediately sents you into Heat 10 with constant attacks from tanks, attack helicopters, attack planes and it never ends, this was caused by a really really dumb patch in the Summer of 2019 apparently, this heavily breaks the game so much its not fun at all.

    Ragdoll effect kills you, because of the overwhelming amount of enemies after you...you get ragdolld and lose control over your character, everything can freely target you and 9 out of 10 times you'll die without having any chance, same goes for hijacking animations especially on helicopters which take too long and by the time you have taken over the vehicle its already been destroyed by planes and other helicopters that spawn right behind you, they removed the minimap so the player can't see the 50,000 enemies spawning behind you.

    The terrible spawning system is extremely archaic and employs the out of sight spawning trick, and sometimes if you move the camera fast enough you can literally see enemies pop out of thin air, its pathetic and the destroys any realism, plus the accuracy all the enemies have is way too high and rarely miss unless you do completely random movements flying on your wingsuit.

    Vehicle control, especially helicopters is still janky and so much worse then previous games, gunplay is okay but removing so many old favorites like c4, pistols and dual wielding was a bad idea.

    This game started out life as being quite playable and now, its a wreck and entirely unplayable unless you can somehow roll back to earlier patches...but then you'll have severe performance issues.    … Expand

    Unsolved problem with saving of the game (nothing halped) , and soft lock because I cant pass mission where you need to loadout a hook with booster , because game menu was ported from console sooooo bad (first time I figured after 5 mins how to loadout hook with baloon but gave up after 10 mins with booster) . P.S. This port from console is even worser than Nioh's of Dark Souls port .

Прошёл 3ю часть на одном дыхании, 4я же показалась пыткой - ничего не изменилось, просто всё заново с тем же бесчисленным но скучным арсеналом и с ОГРОМНОЙ картой, по которой нужно бегать, что-то делать ииии... всё. ну да ввели новые примочки с шарами, но они не делают игру новой, скорее DLC к предыдущей части. Игра себя изжила на 3м эпизоде. К счастью из-за сбоя в EGS уМрачная скукотища.     Just Cause 4 might be one of the biggest disappointments in gaming. Literally. I personally never cared about Cyberpunk 2077 anyway, so that one didn't mean much to me. But i was actually hoping that Just Cause 4 will be decent, because 3 was fun enough. sadly, other than tornadoes, there's basically nothing else.

    Extremely disappointing! I'm not sure what happened with this game, but it's just so empty and lifeless. Tornadoes were nice idea, but everything else is just weak.

    This is the most boring game I have ever played. It's so repetitive, graphics looks like it was made in 2010, and the most important thing - Crashing for no reason after playing for a while. Even for free this game is trash.

    The entire look of this game is sloppy, with many obvious flaws and poorly designed effects. The game play controls are everywhere, and come off as nonsensicle. Closing the map is the number 1, for instance. Why would you randomly choose the number 1 on your keyboard to close the map? You would have never known this game was made by a major gaming company, as it feels and looks more like aThe entire look of this game is sloppy, with many obvious flaws and poorly designed effects. You would have never known this game was made by a major gaming company, as it feels and looks more like a low budget indie game that was never completed.

    The character control is off-putting, with uneven movement. The aiming and viewing with your mouse moves in an uneven as well as sluggish presentation. When you use your grappling hook, you feel a lack of control compared to previous games. The aiming is not precise, and you will sometimes be hitting above, below, left or right of your cursor (center). The parachute and glider seems to be well executed, but everything else is completely unrefined and sloppy is the best way I can describe it. This game is a devastatingly sloppy mess.

    motion and animations show horrible collision issues, while the collision of surfaces in this game dwindle any possible realism out the window completely. Bump a barrel and it could tip over or fly several hundred feet. The same in bumping a large blown up vehicle. The cinematics look horrendous and unfinished, showing that there was no effort in presentation.

    After just recently finishing Just Cause 2 and Just Cause 3, I am sure it was a completely different group of people who made Just Cause 4, as this is so poorly made. This game does not even come close to the level of the previous games in even the quality of game play, smoothness of controls, collision and animation.

    The voice acting shows a lack of feeling, almost like just going through the motions. There is an obvious divide in some of the lines, where it is almost an awkward pause. The script seems to have been read disjointed, leaving little for the voice actors to work together in building the immersion to the situation by sound. The level of emotion in the characters voices is the same, regardless if they are in a life and death combat situation or just sitting and chatting in a calm environment.

    The game performance has stuttering, which makes no sense. The game will perform fine for a time, then it will randomly stutter, then work fine once again. The very first mission with Louis is a complete fiasco. The truck for some reason keeps exploding for no reason. I tried reattempting, and it seems to be unavoidable. Being this is a story mission in the very early game, this is a clear game breaking bug.

    In short, this game should be considered an embarrassment to a company at this level for published such a mess, and I am surprised that it has remained such a mess after this long, unless they just cut their losses and moved on. This game is not worth playing in its current state, and is among the worst games I have ever played from a major gaming company. I would expect a game this poorly made on the level of a failed indie game that was never finished.

    After playing the game for another twelve plus hours, I dislike the game even more. The controls on the flying wing suit are not as good as Just Cause 3. The random vegetation gets in the way with the challenges, which are lackluster. The story is abysmal and filled with politically correct references, instead of anything meaningful. The game characters essentially berates Rico, while then treating him like a boy toy for a loud mouth annoying character that cheapens any value of the Rico and his missions. The writers clearly had an agenda and gave it more importance than making a good game. I will not be investing in Just Cause 5, as I find this to be a sign of a company losing the plot and not trustworthy for quality products.    … Expand

    Refunded it pretty quickly, don't waste your money. Empty insanely big open world, one of the worst mission design of just cause history. Only cool part were tornadoes.

    This is a broken game. At first, the game was not saved (license). Later there were constant crashes, only in this piece ... of the game. Very bad graphics, but like a sandbox, the game is addictive and bored very quickly. It works badly on the pc. I do not recommend playing.

    Worst UI ever;
    The highest amount of bugs per second you can observe just by standing still, you don't ever need to move;
    Worst level and missions design ever;
    Worst controls ever;
    Least amount of actually working mechanics (can't go lower than zero I guess);

    Did they even playtest this on PC? The controls feel awful, the UI is frustrating to deal with, it's buggy, and whenever you start having fun you'll get ambushed by attack drones and have to retreat.

    This is a huge step backwards from Just Cause 3.

    The game became free today on Epic Games and i was really excited to finally try it out myself. But when i first started it, it just crashed right away. I tried to fix it. I even tried to install a Skip Intro Mod but i didn't help either. I don't know if it's the fault of Epic Games but I'm basically really disappointed at this point.

    It is a downgrade compared to Just Cause 3! Graphics are worse (especially renders ) , bugs&glitches that should have been solved in Beta , overall gameplay is dull and repetitive. The core function of destructible objects in the world(fuel tanks , generators satellites etc.) now feel meaningless . If you want to play Just Cause 4 , just go and replay Just Cause 3!

And the prerendered cutscenes, wth is this? They look like 640x480 streched to monitor size. Is this a new strategy of publishers to release an unfinished product and get money from our pockets? This is not the way how the games suppose to look on a day one. You pay 59.99-89.99€ for a game that cannot even match to a open world graphic that is shown in AC Odyssey. It's like to pay a full price for a car, but without engine. It is so annoiyng that publishers releases more and more games that are not finished or polished on day one, instead to be broken as hell. I love whole Just Cause series, but this one is a disaster. At this state, at this moment, I would not recommed anyone to buy this game, even if you are so hyped and excited, don't do it.     The mechanics of the game might be okay with an xbox controller and played on a TV on the other side of the room, but using a keyboard and 1440p monitor the game looks and feels like crap. I keep switching out to the options to double-check whether the graphics have somehow slipped down    JC3 was relaxed, cartoony, single-player fun. After 2 hours of JC4 it feels like a tedious sh:t-show.

    The mechanics of the game might be okay with an xbox controller and played on a TV on the other side of the room, but using a keyboard and 1440p monitor the game looks and feels like crap. I keep switching out to the options to double-check whether the graphics have somehow slipped down to 720p and to triple-check whether I'm missing something obvious in the control mappings. (If I could widen the field of view things might be better, but given the state of the rest of the game I don't feel motivated to google for registry/config hacks.)

    The story (2 hours in) sucks. The series is meant to have some ambiguity - as reflected in the title "just 'cause". In JC4 there's no ambiguity: I'm firmly on the side of the dictator. Even with the crappy game mechanics, I think I'd enjoy the game if I could only side with the Black Hand to kill all the favela residents and their Mary Sue leader.

    I picked the game up for $10 in a Christmas sale so, even though I'm sad that I wasted $10, I'm happy that I feel free to quit after only dropping a couple of hours.    … Expand

    Just buy just cause 3 XL edition. Much cheaper and sure as hell looks better and plays better. Like seriously i refunded this game almost immediately after launch, the cutscenes look like ass and the missions were just running around with dudes in a enemy base at 3 nano meters per hour, would much rather glide around with a rocket launcher on my wingsuit FLYING THROUGH EXPLOSIONS in just cause 3.

    Low graphics are now the new ultra graphics, story is very simple, controls when playing with keyboard&mouse are really bad, ui is made very difficult. gameplay is mehhh.. Biggest dissapointment are annoying missions like loosing heat (getting away) that can go on forever due to bad AI and programming, vehicle physics and driving is awefull.

    What i disliked the most however was the gameplay. It felt like a mobile game ... everything is simplified, easier .. in Just Cause 3, when the gliding was introduced, it was a little learning curve .. one that i had never really mastered at all.

    Funny thing - when i tried the gliding in Just Cause 4 .. it was very easy. Same with hopping from vehicle to vehicle ... so easy that it is trivlal (as in boring). Now i do not want a Quicktime event like in "World on fire" whenever i capture a vehicle .. but it should be a bit harder...

    Gunplay is a joke, too .. with the AI pretty much being dumber than the AI in most 20 year old games.

    One word: AWFUL. This is NOT Just Cause any more. What happened to the base objectives; the meaningless destruction. There might be objectives to accomplish, but I don't feel motivated to destroy as much as in previous releases. The graphics are just not of a AAA game in 2018. I just hated this game after playing an hour or so. What the hell happened to JC?

RTX 2080 TI is REQUIRED to play the game at around 60 fps in 1440p... Yeah, a game that looks about as good as Just Cause 2 and most players can't even play it at a reasonable resolution and framerate.

    I won't even mention the crashing, glitching, nonsensical AI, castrated gameplay, terrible UI, the return of vomit inducing motion blur... because chances are high that you won't be able to run the game anyway, so why even bother?    … Expand

The region conquer with your army looks a bit shallow atm but I hope they do more with it later in game, as it could be a very good mechanic. Another gripe is getting hit with mortars and having no clue where from. The "Lens" you have doesn't display it. This game is fun. This game needs an hd texture pack. This game has a few stutters that should be patched soon.

    UPDATE: Seems the army/territory takeovers are pretty shallow. Blow things up, unlock an army, and automatically expand your borders. They could have done SO MUCH MORE with this... I feel there is a lot of untapped potential and they could have made several skirmishes with the border expansion. I liked the % of things to blow up in each town. In this game I'm actually searching for things to blow up structure wise. I liked blowing up all red things to 100% a town. Not "flying through 3 circles in wingsuit" or "Enter ring at xxx speed" to complete it. It seems like JC2 was a ton to explode and a lot of cities to 100%, and JC3 had a bunch but bit less. JC4 seems like that number has almost fell 50%. Also, the tornados look like a kid with photoshop, maybe I shouldn't have expected Twister movie type tornadoes to begin with. Oh, and POPINS... On ultra settings things appear out of thin air, the draw distance is terrible. Especially on the ocean. But makes flying a plane and trying to find things to bomb a chore. Grenades are gone, and timed and protect missions are absolutely maddening. Motorcycle controls are suicide lol. Another maddening feature is finding a specific type of car make and model to unlock a factory door. This wouldn't be so bad, but since they aren't real autos you just have to get in and out of a ton of them, and hope to get lucky. In one mission, "The Dawnflower", the mission fails as soon as I enter the stunt car.
    The more I think about it, this JC just doesn't have as much to offer as previous entries. There is just too much untapped potential.

Graphics and textures are horrible, pop in is atrocious, there are unfinished textures and environmental features. The motion blur is also horrendous and makes it hard to focus. I wanted to love this game but it's an ugly,unfinished, and buggy mess of a game in it's current state. If it gets patched I will update it but if not this is my final score.     Otherwise the gameplay is average, JC2 had a better parachute so it kinda sucks here, theres no sprint (unlike jc2), the railroad track are textures and not even 3d rails.. I mean c'mon, how much performance are you saving from those few polygons? The weapon handling is better, destruction is excellent (but it seems that where the team spent literally all of their money) and forgot to spend some on cuscenes, story writing, a PROPER **** vehicle camera, graphics etc.

    The Cutscenes are prerendered in 720p low settings and the animation is actually worse than Mass effect Andromeda. Im not expecting anything worthwhile (just cause never great animation or voice acting) but this is actually atrocious, it looks like a 5 year old animated it. The direction is beyond sloppy and the faces on the characters dont look remotely natural.

    Not every game has to have motion capture animation to look acceptable. Witcher 3 had some of the best animated conversations and cutscenes and EVERYTHING was done by hand. Sot his is just unacceptable from a 60$ AAA game.

    I will update my review if any of this is addressed, however like with JC3 im not holding my breath.

    Important Fact : JC2 and Mad Max were made by Avalanche Sweden and Avalanche New York made this pile of♥♥♥♥♥♥just like they made JC3. I expect this to not get fixed ever. However I am looking forward to Rage2 and Gen Zero form Avalanche Sweden because at least they seem to be competent.

    FYI, for that period of gameplay and writing my opinion, I was using nvidia driver 417.22. Specs: I7 6700k, 1080ti ftw3, 16gb ram @3200mhz. Game runs smooth, average 90 fps @1440p.
    (with driver 411.70 I had issuse in JC4 with LOD, it was totally broken. There was like invisible line that cut off details from the half of the screen to the bottom. With 417.22 it's gone).    … Expand

It is great if you want to just blow stuff up and cause chaos but the only real neat addition are the balloons. The base takeovers are not as enjoyable since you have to do missions to complete instead of destruction. Don't waste your money untilPlayed on PC. Port is bad. Graphics issues and crashes.     Мне жалко 3к, которые я потратил на это. У меня ещё остаются надежды на какой-то патч, но не думаю, что что-то сильно изменится.
    Единственный плюс, это 100+ фпс на ультрах.

    DON'T BELIEVE NOOBS who gave 10 to this game. They are paid for doing it or are the Developers. Read the REAL reviews on STEAM from people who really bought the game. At this time the score is 41%. Just Cause 4 is 100 times worse than JC3 in every way. Stay away from this buggy crap or wait for a 50%-60% discount.

    Horrid mess: No c4, no grenades, no pistols, no duel-wield, no function vehicle handling, no settlement liberation and no working graphics.

    All in all, I terrible game that was shipped out before it was ready.

    Crashing after a few minutes of gameplay, have yet to finish the intro mission.
    Drivers updated and requirements met.
    Running as admin, tried disabling cloud saves, -8 clock on msi ab, etc etc, even did a rain dance.
    Game not working.

    Pros the grappling hook balloon thing. Better driving. Cons. Cutscenes that look a ps3 game. Entire landscapes popping in at the last second. Cars that disappear boats that fly into the sky. I vould go on but you get the idea.

    Another completely unacceptable PC port.

    - No FOV settings.
    - Max mouse sensitivity is unbearably low.
    - No way to disable motion blur.
    - Mouse sensitivity when zoomed is not modified by the zoom, so aiming is terrible.
    - Very few graphics settings.

    There are only two possible reasons for this: indifference or incompetence. I don't know which is worse.

    I've already refunded this game. It is a shoddy console port that has barely functional controls for PC players. The developers expected all PC gamers to use a controller to play, the keyboard setup is a mess. Even the graphics look worse than you see on modern consoles. The gameplay is more generic and repetitive than Just Cause 3, if you can believe it. I almost wasted $90 on the GoldI've already refunded this game.     The ending serves as a bridge to a possible 5th installment, but it’s going to be just as bad unless the developers reinvent the series. The "entertain yourself" approach to the open world ran out of steam a long time ago, campaign missions are going downhill fast, and the amount of bugs has skyrocketed.

    When designing a new game in a long-running franchise, the developers face a fundamental question: go with the tried-and-true or risk trying something new? In this case the former approach was chosen and it was the right decision, because JC4 is as enjoyable as its predecessors. It has some obvious flaws (e.g. uneven visuals and some repetitive mission types) but they are easily outweighed by incredibly fun gameplay. It is simply a well-made, thrilling open world game.
