It's a masterpiece, guaranteed to have players flocking to forums to discuss the ending and try to unravel with it all means. [Issue#254, p.62]

It’s a short ride, but one I felt compelled to take again – including a search for its mysterious hidden orb collectibles. Play it soon before anyone spoils a single big moment for you.

You need to be in the right mood to fully enjoy something as peculiar as Inside. Take a deep breath, enjoy the silence, embrace the suspension of disbelief, and you'll be in for one of the finest treats of 2016.

Gorgeous from start to finish, highly polished and sometimes deeply unsettling, Inside is not only a worthy successor to Limbo. It's one of the best games of 2016.

Inside is a truly unique platformer that is a better and more mature brother of famous Limbo (that came from the same studio). Everything you see on the screen is extremely well thought out and the way that one anonymous character in the background conveys tons of emotions with a simple move is astounding. Only the best could have achieved such a thing and I'm sure Inside will be remembered for years.

It's remarkable how effective a game Playdead have created from a few static backgrounds and a bunch of playforms and ladders. I suppose it goes to show that games as art are as good as the emotional investment of the designers.

Like Limbo, developer Playdead's previous title, Inside is one of the few video games that reaches the level of allegory.

Inside is a pure consistent work that manages to play to its own strengths in very smart ways.

Inside’s fraught four hours of oppressive pursuit, smart environmental manipulation, and unsettling imagery exhibit a consistency and obsessive attention to detail that few other games can boast.

Inside isn’t as impressive in terms of the physics based puzzles as Limbo was six years ago, but it doesn’t make them any less enjoyable now.

If Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” were converted to video game format, Inside would be it. A short playtime does not detract from the expertly-crafted puzzles that always reward careful observation and never overstay their welcome.

An immensely polished, gripping platformer experience. Aesthetically, Inside is pretty much ahead of anything done in the gaming space right now. That said, the actual gameplay (pushing blocks, scripted chase sequences) is somewhat lacking in substance. [Sept 2016]

You will probably remember three hours of playing Inside as three best hours of computer entertainment in a very long time.

Just like its predecessor, Inside is a puzzle in itself. Mysterious, intriguing, dark yet beautiful, it's one of the most unique platformers around and a journey well worth taking.

Playdead's Inside may have been the follow-up to Limbo six years in the making, but the wait was certainly worth it.

Although Inside’s aesthetics are great, its storytelling methods aren’t reprehensible. There’s no narration or dialogues; all information is conveyed through environment and gestures of characters, so unless you’re willing to go on wild interpretation sprees, Inside’s story won’t make any sense. But even if you do, it will still leave a lot of unanswered questions. [Issue#211, p.62]

Emotional, nerve-wracking and technically polished is the game Inside, the spiritual sequel of the Limbo platformer. You will be amazed by its depressive thoughts and horror atmosphere and perhaps slightly disappointed by the relatively short campaign and a few other flaws.

Inside has a foreboding atmosphere that's second to none, set by the masterful use of lighting, shadows, colors and sound. Although padded at parts (even for a four hour game), it's still able to keep you gripped. The puzzles are somewhat basic for the most part and the ending of the game is one of the worst I've ever encountered, simply not fitting in with the rest of it.

It looks incredible and controls beautifully, but Inside’s best ideas are spread too thin.

  1. It has a few decent puzzles, all of them boringly repeated. It looks lovely, when it remembers to, but mostly doesn’t. It moves and controls wonderfully, but that’s not so great a feature when what you’re moving and controlling is so bland. I found no pathos, no meaningful peril, no attachment to the ever-dying yet always-living character, and ultimately, no purpose.

Second fail in a row from devs of this game looks like tradition

Story has no beginning and no ending, after 4 hours you know nothing. They say this is is all for your imagination, but real reason: "we just have no plot, sorry"

Gameplay just poor, graphics are much worse and no plot.

Though, I will have to give it a 7 and not a score higher for a few reasons; It's very short, and the the "story" is a little too ambiguous for my tastes. The matte-finish art style is something to be appreciated, as well as the fluid movement and procedural character animations, but all of what made INSIDE different and interesting started to become stale within the first hour, and the game was over 2 hours later.
