I think the social media narrative delivery is a brilliant idea, one I hope a bunch of other people have the sense to steal. It’d be lovely to see other games running with that conceit, much as so many picked up on the lost phone gimmick. But if they don’t, then I Hope She’s OK has offered it with aplomb.

I hope she’s ok is a walking simulator off the beaten path that is a learning experience as much as it is an enjoyable, atmospheric one. I had a great time with I hope she’s ok, playing it three times to completion to ensure I had seen everything there was to offer. This, of course, was followed by googling all the traditional touches I had encountered and learning tons of new things about Finnish culture and folklore.

Your character uses their phone to take photos and post comments to social media and it's super fun to walk around and select the best angle for your shot and to read the various comments from your friends.
The game's setting and scenery are just stunning and the player is quickly lulled into a false sense of serenity and security. The pace is quite relaxed which makes the jump scare moments all the more effective as the suspense and anxiety are slowly cranked up. The attention to detail is amazing and there are lots of cool references that provide interesting insights into Finnish life and culture.
If you like games like Firewatch and The Painscreek Killings this game's for you.
