Nov 4, 2022Honey, I Joined A Cult is a bright and colourful devourer of free time. Like a real cult, untangling yourself from Sole Survivor’s phenomenal debut proves very difficult thanks to some in-depth customisation and role-playing systems.

Nov 4, 2022Honey, I Joined a Cult uses the same cynicism already seen in Cult of the Lamb to decline it in a totally managerial sauce, and it does so with great success. In the face of some aesthetic choices that are not exactly inspired and of options in the missions at times with a somewhat obscure outcome, the title developed by Sole Survivor Games fully convinces, also thanks to the wide range of options. And now you will have to apologize, but we must return to venerate the supreme Parasaurolophus: it will also be a herbivorous dinosaur, but it is better not to make it angry ...

Nov 15, 2022Honey, I Joined a Cult is an enjoyable game, as long as players know what to expect from this kind of management experience. The mechanics work well, there’s a constant sense of forward momentum, and the player is constantly busy contemplating how to increase experience and get the most out of his cult members. The game needs a higher top speed, as well as extra variety in the mission department. But the game does not deliver on any of the innovation and new ideas that the cult concept can support. The experience is well suited for newcomers to the genre but makes little effort to tweak its core ideas. Honey, I Joined a Cult makes it clear that Sole Survivor Games are good at creating a competent management title, but I really want to see them try to add a twist to the formula in coming projects.

Nov 4, 2022Honey I joined a Cult is a Base Building game like no other. Its mechanics are very familiare but the outcomes and the silliness that come with them are a guaranteed laugh.
-
Nov 8, 2022A nice idea for a management sim that is partly hindered by a too much guided gameplay and a distinctive lack of originality in the basic gameplay.
-
Nov 10, 2022While it may not appear as glamorous as Scientology, Honey, I Joined a Cult is deceptively addictive. Its alluring capacity to let you micro-manage down to the tiniest detail, its swathe of customisable components, and its cheeky writing will leave you obsessed and indoctrinated (if only for a few hours). It takes a fair amount of grinding to build up a cult worth following, but those with the patience to stick around will find a decent amount of management-sim goodness to worship here.

LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jan 24, 2024With a top-down perspective and simple graphics, Sole Survivor Games' tycoon is reminiscent of good old Zelda, but with a wide range of strategic options, it's closer to Prison Architect and plays like it. It's a shame that the game quickly exhausts its initially interesting potential and unusual theme. [Issue#325]
