May 20, 2016The years of changes of direction and publishers didn’t leave the shooter unscathed. The stealth mechanics are superficial, the AI comfortably dumb and even the visuals are not up to par. Which is even worse considering that you’ll encounter the occasional tense moment, where you feel what this revolution could have been.

LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jun 20, 2016Homefront: The Revolution is trying to be everything, but none of the parts is entertaining enough to get the game out of the gray average. [Issue#264]
-
Jun 2, 2016Poor AI severely limits the immersion of the game, rather sadistic and somewhat irritating main characters don’t make it any easier to play either.
-
May 24, 2016Homefront may look pretty, but it's a monotonous and confused slog.
-
May 24, 2016With its open-world environment and emphasis on crafting, this is an interesting sequel, marred by glitches and frame rate issues.
-
May 19, 2016Homefront: Revolution has several problems in terms of enemy AI, stealth mechanics and poor framerate. It also has a generic storyline, and it's full of repetitive missions.
-
May 18, 2016Homefront: The Revolution ends up a more fitting sequel than I think anyone could’ve predicted. Like its predecessor, this is a kludged-together mish-mash of trendy design ideas from other, better games, glued to a story that punches far above its weight and aspires to something much greater...It’s a shame the finished product feels like a work-in-progress, because there’s so much to want to like here. I just can’t.
-
May 17, 2016Homefront: The Revolution is a mediocre FPS that squanders an intriguing concept, but worst of all the game is not fun to play and overwrought with repetition.
-
May 17, 2016Homefront: The Revolution has plenty of potential with its unique setting and premise, but its completely let down by dated design, unengaging combat, a boring story, and performance problems to boot.
-
May 17, 2016While Homefront: The Revolution had potential to be great, its mediocre gameplay, lackluster story and myriad of technical issues make it one of the biggest disappointments of the generation. The PC’s iteration’s disastrous framerate and texture streaming follies take what could have been a halfway decent game and make it a pure test of patience on the part of the player.
-
May 25, 2016It’s this tradition that gives us Dambuster’s lamentable Homefront: The Revolution, the sequel to THQ’s Homefront (2011) that neither critics nor players asked for.
-
May 17, 2016Simply put, Homefront: The Revolution is outclassed in its bracket by every other big-budget game released this generation. And that’s without getting into how shockingly shit the PC version is...This game made me feel unwell, it bored me to tears, and it irritated the piss out of me. Also, it has co-op.

May 20, 2016This sequel utterly fails to establish Homefront as a solid franchise. Skip it.

Oct 19, 2016I didn’t enjoy most of my time with it, but I wasn’t miserable either. There’s nothing wrong with being Ethan Brady, but you could have been Benjamin Walker.
-
May 17, 2016I’m aware how dreadful the AI is throughout. I’m aware that despite its attempts to move things on it’s extremely derivative of a genre that’s wearing itself thin. But I want to recommend it anyway. It’s got this weird bubbling heart underneath it, a clear desire to be a great game despite not being able to reach it. It’s packed, varied, and so bloody enormous. It’s a real muddle, and a muddle for which I’ve developed a real soft spot.
