Players become Harry Potter and delve not only into Harry's world, but also into his personality, via an internal "voice." Conversing with unique characters like Moaning Myrtle, shopping in Diagon Alley, and exploring the convoluted corridors of Hogwarts, players make crucial and independent decisions within Harry's world. Additionally, Harry can, of course, cast spells against foes - but these spells must be perfectly executed, or they could be miscast with humorous or critical consequences! Mini-games within levels can be revisited, so players can help Mrs. Weasley with "de-gnoming" her garden, challenge other students in Professor Lockhart's Dueling Club, or complete other mini-games again and again. The console games have more detail and are curiously a little more humorous than the PC version with some additional activities taking place, but even after all that, we enjoyed it immensely.
  2. Clare (aged 10) says: I like the game a lot. Jumping over big gaps or on to moving things is a bit hard so I turned on auto jump, which made it a lot easier. Learning spells is pretty easy.

Potter fans will love this game and anyone hankering for a decent action/adventure that we haven't seen since American McGee's "Alice" may just find this will hold them over until Mr. McGee's next big release.
  4. Whether roaming the halls of Hogwarts, or stepping into the options to play a Quidditch match, the game does have entertainment at its heart.
  5. For the child around you, or the child within you, and any fan of the Potter series, Chamber comes highly recommended.

It may be a little short for some - you'll probably finish it in under 10 hours - but god kows there are worse licensed games. [Feb 2003, p.77]
  7. Harry Potter may posses a certain charm that transcends the generation gap, but don’t expect this game to weave the same magic.

It is the direction EA should've stuck with, the ultimate blueprint for a great Harry Potter game. You explore the castle and the Hogwarts premises, go to classes, interact with well-known characters, uncover secrets, and much much more. The game score (music) is also very memorable and atmospheric, and fits the game perfectly. This and Prisoner of Azkaban are my favorite titles in the Harry Potter video game series. Expand

While the game isn't as long and the castle not as extensive as in the console versions, the PC version makes up for this with mood, atmosphere and sheer fun. You want to finish the game, which I did not find to be the case in the console versions. Not only do you want top finish the game, but play it again and again and again... superb. 14 stars. Expand

The game is longer, the spell challenges are much better and more fun, there are fun side quests (Quidditch and wizard duels) and more cards to collect that are actually very well hidden but even if you miss some you can still get everything. Even the Hogwarts Castle is filled with secrets this time making it actually worthwhile to go exploring, as no longer you are forced to walk through limited areas.
A pretty good game even if you are not a HP fan.
