    Half-Life: Alyx is an incredible demonstration of what can be done with virtual reality. Nobody, so far, has put the amount of resources and research that Valve did. This might not be the killer application VR needs, but it’s an excellent game, worthy of the main series of Half-Life.

    Valve realmente lo quiso decir cuando dijeron que este juego sólo se puede jugar en VR y no como un juego de FPS regular. Este es el mejor juego de realidad virtual hasta la fecha, y una necesidad de comprar para cualquier persona que posee el sistema de realidad virtual, incluso si nunca jugó los juegos anteriores.     If you are a fan of the half-life series, you will sit down and cry at the end of the scene.
    I pay tribute to Valve, who made this masterpiece even after a long ridicule.
    12 years of my half life fan life was rewarded with this.

    Juegazo, Inovacion, VR, Vuelta de nuestra saga de pc favorita, lo tiene todo, fisicas alucinantes, hasta puedes hacer malabares, lastima que este subtitulado y no doblado, un juego que no te puedes perder y por el que merece la pena el desembolso de unas gafas vr, en mi caso oculus rift s, las quest aunque se pueda no convence lo del cable mucho y no las pille, si tienes la posibilidad compralo

    The best part of the game are the graphics and the physics engine. But It is awkward to play, and boring like all virtual reality games today. This technology still has a long way to go.

    Alyx is an amazing game. It's the first VR title that actually makes real use of the platform. It is immersive, engaging, and challenging with a defined story. I'm a fan and early adopter of VR tech, but I untill Alyx I was never blown away.

    Granted it's far shorter than I'd like, and the AI could use a little work. But it's a game changer!

    I am 35 and I have been playing PC and console games since I was 10. I have played a ton of PC and console games of all genres and started playing VR a year ago. After playing Alyx, and replaying it 2 more times, I can only say that this the most amazing gaming experience I have ever had.     Fantastic visuals, combat and story. This game really shows that VR is not a gimmick but instead a tool to exasperate the gameplay and visuals to an amazing extent.

    I can not wait until we get another VR title from Valve.

    It's not half life more than 2 less than 4 but it's nevertheless an half life game and valve still got the old magic. Source 2 looks great. Hope we won't have yo wait 13 years for the next game...

Valve still has the skills to make highHalf:Life Alyx is nothing special, and that's really what it needed to be. It lacks the atmosphere cohesiveness and the character that made the Half:Life the series what it is. Fun VR mechanics such as throwing and smashing bottles are a great tech demo and proof of concept but behind these gimmicks is a an empty and often frustrating experience. Valve still has the skills to make high fidelity, polished experiences but do they still have the soul to make engaging, memorable games that leave an impression on the player and stand the test of time? Whether it's a sign of the times or a hint at a deeper change within Valve itself, frankly, I don't think so.

    As for the VR experience, I am more inclined to see games that utilise the VR environment to create highly atmospheric, tangible, immersive experiences that play on the senses such as fear, awe or something in between rather than highly interactive ones where the VR experience amounts to a lot of fiddling with objects and puzzles as opposed to being immersed and convinced you really are in another world. It's a shame that Valves offering focuses so heavily on carrying broomsticks around and throwing bread rolls at pigeons and not really much on the actual virtual experience itself.

    The environments of Metro Exodus are more detailed than Half: Life Alyx, its atmosphere more compelling and the sense of urgency and agency far more heightened resulting in an engaging experience that's far beyond what is seen in Half-Life Alyx - and thats all in a game that is not even in virtual reality. It shows that just because you use a VR to experience a game won't make it more immersive without the care and attention on the game's atmosphere.

    It might sound comical but I see Until Dawn: Rush of Blood as a vastly more compelling VR experience. Heck many of the Playstation VR experiences from just a couple of years ago, including titles like Ocean Descent, I believe were on a better track to creating the VR experiences we dream of. Half Life Alyx could easily have been a game which is controlled with mouse and keyboard and experienced on a 2D screen. A lot of work went into perfecting Half-Life Alyx's interaction and it's a shame as they largely fail to incite the feeling of immersion you get even from comparatively introductory experiences such as Ocean Descent.

    It's also a shame that Half Life Alyx is only now bringing attention to VR when previously it was more of a niche experience even when there are already many highly realised virtual reality games. It is good however that Half-Life: Alyx is bringing the spotlight back to what was quickly again becoming a disregarded technology. I personally would like to see a PT like experience in VR or another immersive ocean experience with high fidelity graphics. As for purely interactive VR experiences that are pushing the boundaries with what is possible within a VR environment I think Boneworks goes far above and beyond Valve's offering here.

    All-in-all like Half-Life Alyx just doesn't live up to the promise or expectations of a truly immersive virtual reality experience. Does it have innovative interaction in high fidelity environments? Yes. Is it an immersive, memorable experience worthy of the Half-Life universe? No.    … Expand

    Fantastic. This is the first major VR game and it is great. The story is fantastic, gameplay is great. I feel that at points the game is stale, but the graphics are gorgeous and the novelty of seeing a vortigaunt never wears off and the ending is up there with the greats, my jaw was dropped the whole time. Summary: If you have a VR it's a no brainer, but if you don't have one maybe waitFantastic. This is the first major VR game and it is great. The story is fantastic, gameplay is great.     Finally a game that`s worth playing on VR, I`ve been waiting for a game like this for years. It doesn`t even compare to all the games out there, so please just try it and you wont be dissapointed.
    It has teleportation for all of you that have motion sickness like me, it makes wonders.

    The equipment needed is expensive, but I assure you. it is so worth it. Half-Life: Alyx is exactly what I wanted from Valve, but definitely not what I expected. Depending on which motion style you choose, your game will vary in fun. DO NOT CHOOSE THE SHIFT MOVEMENT AT ALL COSTS. The graphics are phenomenal, and Valve has really outdone themselves this time.

    Awesome game. Not just awesome VR game, but also a great game in general. They really got that sweet spot between too scary and not enough scary, and the experience is amazing overall. I'm happy I bought an Oculus Rift S a few months ago, as they seem out of stock everywhere now, in part because of this game.

    This is my first VR triple star game (i only tested demos and small games) and i am a huge Half Life fan, so this can bias my review.

    One of the BEST VR games and best AAA video games released in these past years, I've played almost every single triple AAA game release from the past decade or so and this is one of the few that made me want to replay it right after finishing the game. One of the best looking and most interactive VR titles, a definite MUST PLAY for all vr owners and half life fans.

    It's a truly Valve game: careful attention to detail, vast and realistic landscapes, beautiful graphics, good story, excellent gameplay, incredible detailed sound, the full HL universe. And then the VR plus: Great inmersion, very easy to control, you totally forget of yourself for hours, very intense but not scary. I    Played about 2/3 of it in 15 days with a 200$ second-hand Oculus cv1.
    It's a truly Valve game: careful attention to detail, vast and realistic landscapes, beautiful graphics, good story, excellent gameplay, incredible detailed sound, the full HL universe. And then the VR plus: Great inmersion, very easy to control, you totally forget of yourself for hours, very intense but not scary. I end really tired each sesion.
    But the best off all I think is that there's still room for improvement: Physics can be better (some stucks and plane crossings), story can improve (might be too lineal and less humorous than previous chapters), inmersiveness can still be bettter (not very realistic to store things in your wrists. What about a belt?).
    So I'm eagerly waiting for a HL Alyx 2 and I'm sure I'll be to HL-A as HL2 was to HL1.

    Update: Just ended it in a four hours continuous session. Physically and mentally wasted. It was good enough from the start, but man, after passing Jeff, the last two chapters shines.    … Expand

    I love this game! It has a amazing combat system which is both fun and strategic. Plus the upgrades effect all of the combat from having sights to a grenade launcher.

    I have sunk hours into this game because you're always having such amazing time playing this game.

    One of the best games, not just in VR, but of all platforms! This was one of the first VR games that made me forget I was just standing in a empty corner of my bedroom with a box strapped to my head! Absolutely amazing writing and gameplay that you just can't get with a keyboard and mouse or a controller!

I'm not even going to say it is a perfect VR game, but damn does it get close (especially with the technology we have at our disposal currently). The game has the usual valve music we've come to love, the wonderful world building and story crafting of half life (and all story based valve games for that matter), and fun and addicting gameplay. It is a far cry from any other game on the market currently. The only vr game that can come anywhere close is boneworks, and that's still not a super amazing game like alyx is. This game definetly deserves a 10/10… Expand

    A very well made VR game. Was able to get about 15 hours out of the story and am going through a second playthrough. Game runs very well on my HTC Vive with no issues or frame drops on the highest settings.

    Story was interesting with great banter between Alyx and Russel and very unique environments that I have not seen in any other VR title.     I would have liked it if there was more weapons and more combat scenes with more enemies. Currently you only ever fight 2-3 combine at once and I would have liked to have fought more. This led to the game feeling too easy on the hardest difficulty for me.

    I think this is the best VR game to date and might even qualify as the "must have" vr title. It's quite immersive and the physics aspect is just great. I'm playing with a pimax headset and the immersion the combination gets is just amazing.

    Best VR game I’ve ever played. Took me a day or two to acclimate to the controls and not get motion sickness but after that the game was a blast. Wish there was some more post game content but can’t win them all.

    The most immersive and in depth VR title in existence. The tech, level design, audio mixing and ingenuity are among the industry's finest. Small quirks in textures and tracking doesn't set this game back in any way. As of this moment, this is the front runner for game of the year and will be looked back on as one of the groundbreaking games of the decade.

    This game is very immersive and expands in the Half-Life universe.

    I am also pretty new to VR so can get motion sick sometimes on continuous motion games however I don't get one bit of motion sickness running around in this game. Continuous motion is a must to play this.

    Having played Half-Life back in the days this was like a trip down memory lane - just in the next generation gaming technology VR!

    This was an amazing experience and I will be looking forward to more content like Alyx.

    This is one of the best VR games out there. Everything about it is incredible. Best of all, it's Valve finally diving back into Half-Life. Play this game if you can. It's amazing. No gameplay videos can do it justice.

    First thing: majorly overhyped. Goofy floating hands destroy immersion. Clunky. Slow. Boring story. Boring gameplay. Corny dialogue. Linear. So you dropped a grand plus to play this? Sucker.
    What a waste.
    Only redeeming value: gorgeous graphics.

This emblematic franchise has been brought to virtual reality; in Alyx we enjoy an immersion never seen before, with comfortable and intuitive mechanics as well as excellent visuals and atmosphere that accompany this interesting adventure within the iconic saga.

    A special mention should be made of the game's dialog, mainly consisting of Alyx herself and Russel, a scientist who Alex remains in constant communication with throughout the game. Their relationship feels genuine, the conversations between them are enjoyable, and almost all of the intended comedic moments land perfectly, which is something most video games seem to have trouble with.
