Despite its difficulty, or perhaps because of it, it pushes all the right buttons for an epic cooperative experience. So if you've got a bunch of friends up for regular trips to the underground, the atmosphere will instantly and definitively absorb you. [Issue#317]

This may not be the best choice for a player without an existing co-op team, but if you do have three friends who are willing to learn, and die, together, it's a work of unmissable claustrophobia. GTFO indeed. [Issue#368, p.110]

No one would be surprised if GTFO was found to have been developed by the Devil himself. Punishing, frustrating and brutal, I can't recommend GTFO to everyone but if you like tough co-op shooters and you have three friends as crazy as you are then you'll fall madly in love with it.

GTFO oozes amazing atmosphere and tense gameplay, it is well designed with a philosophy taken from old game design about learning while playing to let players discover how to overcome the game’s challenging missions. This game delivers on making players feel isolated, stuck in claustrophobic environments surrounded by the deadly sounds of monsters awaiting their next snack. GTFO stands out as a unique cooperative horror experience due to its gameplay design, one that I am fully relishing, even after countless deaths and failed runs.

GTFO might grow stale the more hours I pour into it, but 10 Chamber Collective’s rundown updates function like seasons and are guaranteed to introduce new levels and primary/secondary goals to complete in the coming months. The gunplay leaves a lot to be desired as the catalog of assault rifles, SMGs, pistols, and shotguns feel the same, but stealth runs are satisfying to plan out with others. Guttural screeches of enemies are bloodcurdling during engagements, while dark and complicated backdrops limit sightlines and keep me on my toes. GTFO isn’t for the faint of heart. Nevertheless, the fear of death means that re-strategizing and improvising are commonplace, which is a metagame that feels disappointingly absent in most cooperative shooters as of late. If you’ve been craving an FPS that tests your critical thinking and mechanical skills, then GTFO might just be the perfect hidden gem to satiate that ravenous hunger.

Do you have four friends and are you not afraid to spend a bit of cash? Try GTFO. It’s an exceptionally good horror action game that borrows a lot of the best stuff from other, similar experiences. It may not be perfect but it sure as hell is addictive.

GTFO is an exhilarating and rewarding experience. if you bother to invest in it.

GTFO is hard, mean, and exacting in its demands – but there are few co-op shooters that scratch the same itch.

It's impossible to experience the greatest moments of GTFO without a group of friends, but the launch version of the game makes it worth the effort. 10 Chambers has developed a content-packed co-op shooter where it's exhilarating to succeed - and, crucially, it can even be fun to fail. There's just enough horror and action to satisfy a wide variety of players, but finding those players and gathering them on a regular basis can be a hassle. Still, anyone willing to do so will see that GTFO has a huge chance for success in the long term, especially if the developers continue to crank out more highly refined nightmares.

GTFO is a concentration of love and wickedness, the merciless manifestation of a concept as inflexible as it is created with care and dedication. Although not all the pieces of the 10 Chambers proposal have yet been filed to perfection, the title does not fail to offer its users a cooperative experience full of personality, fiercely hardcore and stimulating in the most infamous sense of the term. It is certainly not a product for all palates, and it is certainly true that the Swedish studio still has some work to do, but already now GTFO is perfectly able to offer lovers of cooperative shooter with high difficulty rate a valuable mix of anxiety and excitement, fueled by an inflexible playful formula but capable of giving large doses of satisfaction.

It is a hellish experience playing GTFO alone, but four-player co-op gaming would bring the fun of higher challenge. Since the trial version, the difficulty levels of the game have been adjusted many times, but scarcity of resources and strong hordes zombies still made the game look hard-core. There is also the problem that absence of gaming guidance deterred players from playing the game, and the numerous bugs also undermined the game's quality.

GTFO is an entertaining and demanding experience, but it's not a game for everyone.

To sum it up, GTFO is a unique cooperative game, but poorly balanced and already with only a small community, which is mostly made up of players who lack skill.

GTFO is a solid and challenging shooter with great sound and environment design. The terminal is a delight to use, and the optional bulkheads provide a reason to come back. However, the core gameplay loop can get a little repetitive and the different environments and loadouts don’t do enough to combat this.

GTFO delivers an outstanding co-op experience where players feel naturally inclined to sync up their hits, share their resources and discuss tactics. It's cruel, it's hardcore, but ultimately it's a fun game set on an unique universe.

This is a remarkable and probably a different game than what you are used to. If you do not like different, then you may not like this. ThisThis is a remarkable and probably a different game than what you are used to. If you do not like different, then you may not like this. This game is incredibly tough and requires team work at a high level. This is the sort of game that is amazing to play with friends. And if your friends dont play it, then the GTFO discord (which is integrated deeply into the game experience) is a great place to make new friends. Full Review »

I understand that the developers wanted to make a middle-shelf game that wasn't really for everyone, but I just don't understand why they can't have more accessibility for anyone that doesn't want to treat this like a military breach and clear sim, with mutants.

The community wants to talk about how they're super tight knit, very helpful, but the moment you complain about any gameplay mechanic, they say "This isn't your game, keep walking." I bought this for myself, my wife and a friend that I've been squadding with in BF games since the original BF2, and I was just blown away by how you can't even play the first level without a youtube tutorial and a discord group.

I don't really see this game as being a title that anyone can play out of the box, and if it takes over 100$ to put together your four man team? This game is -not- worth the money.

Additionally, I would have given them a higher score, but when I posted a negative review in their forum, mods deleted it for "trolling" despite no cursing or defamatory remarks.

Optimization is very pleased and the graphics are very beautiful. I play with my friends and the game is a bit difficult, but very cool.
