Amazing reboot of the series. Career mode could be better though...the Ai is superb the tracks are fewer than grid motorsports and they didn't add nurburgring track which is one of my favorites such a shame. Anyway the game is pretty good overall I think it's worth it.

The game is much better than the expert criticism suggests. In my view, it's the best game in the GRID series so far.

Great and funny racing game. Easy to learn and hard to master gameplay. Nice variety of cars and tracks.

This game is simple, it has a fantastic racing experience. Some more depth to the game would have been fantastic, but for what it is this game is a must have for racing fans. They may have taken the race driver out of "race driver grid". But its still grid.

Very interesting physics for the arcade. All cars are different. A lot of tracks, which is good. AI is quite good.

A pure adrenalin-fuelled arcade racing game that is best played on a wheel and from in-car view, a truly strange mixture but somehow it works. If you want an arcade racing game with realistic looking and sounding cars but the handling more a caricature and exaggerated of the vehicle class this is a game for you. If you in any way want a simulation or realism look elsewhere!

It's a good game and the racing is the focus and there are many ways it could have been better. I found gamepad (pc) controls utterly frustrating with the cars thrown randomly off the kerbs. The same car using a wheel rides the kerbs fine. The AI are punchy and will defend themselves, especially on hard and very hard levels. The team aspect and teammate seem pretty much pointless to me, it's just about getting out there and winning events.

For the racing, competitive AI and atmosphere of the rain/dusk/night racing Grid gets an 8. Mostly the 2 points are lost from the score because it's a grid to progress and far too linear a process to do so.

Forza Horizon 4 and Wreckfest are both far better arcade racers but if you are looking for something new and different to play Grid is worth a go.

the game that no one liked was the one I liked the most hehehe I love the artificial intelligence of this game, it makes the npc make mistakes just like you and if you are brutal With an opponent he will be against you too. I don't deny, sometimes it's very stressful, you're running a perfect race, then an idiot comes along and gets in the way

    Mixed feelings all along.

The racing itself is good, the AI punishes you for mistakes, makes mistakes of their own and provides a great challenge on Very Hard difficulty. The game looks fresh, with great weather and sun effects. The cars sound good too. It's not a sim, but it doesn't pretend to be. But the content and for lack of a better word, soul, is missing. But the content and for lack of a better word, soul, is missing. It feels rushed and unfinished. There is no real sense of progression, no real sense of being part of a team or being an aspiring young race car driver. You just go from one soulless race to the other. The cars get quicker and the races get tougher, and that's basically it. Money in this game seems to serve no purpose apart from buying new cars (which you are forced to do if you want to progress) and customization options.

Fans of the original GRID will lament this game for having no team ownership aspect, no rivalries against other teams. Fans of Autosport will lament this game for its lack of tracks. Fans of both will lament this game for it's piss poor damage modeling.

For now, I can't really recommend the game. Wait for a sale or the inevitable complete edition once DLC cars and tracks have all been released.

Feels like a lazy Cash grab release!
Grid 2019 it's a good game but isn't great. It brings back all the great driving of the original game but feels like the passion for the IP has gone. Career mode is very simple affair where you just win races in each series to unlock bigger and better competitions very little team managment going on and basic tuning

The damage model seems to have zero effect on the car mechanically but looks ok, a downgrade from the original! Cars feel great like the original but alot less skill required compared to other games Forza/DIrt Rally/ etc. The game seems to have a penalty system in place for bad drivers but seems a little hit and miss with regards to cutting corners. Wall riding doesn't seem to be a thing and will usually cause you to spin out/slow down. Graphics are nice but not setting any new standards. Performance was ok on my system no stuttering or crashing. There's fun to be had with Grid 2019 but ultimately falls short of being a Classic like the original. No VR support feels like a massive mistake on CM's part as i think it would work great with GRID.

OK on a controller, better on a wheel. It writes it's own rules for how cars drive, it's less an arcade-sim like Forza and more like if Need For Speed was given some more sim elements. You'll either love it for it's irreverent take on a serious racer or you'll hate it for it's loose controls and erratic behavior.

Not enough content, lack of a car customization, pretty meh graphics. But colorgrading and lightning is pretty, smart ai, xbox one controller feedback feels fantastic. It was fun game to play, but far from perfect.

I saw the YT video that was put toghether by Don Joewon Song (titled "GRID World Exclusive - You have to own this game!!!") and thought that this Grid was going to be all that I hoped for after being a bit dissappointed with the saga's orientation after the second Grid. Unfortunately, after trying it a bit, I can say the same as other users have said here: this is racing without a soul.

    The bad:
    1) Controls are clunky and erratic. Even had some trouble getting used to it with an Xbox controller.
    2) Graphically wise it is no better than any of the current racing games, at all.
    3) There's no actual feel of a campaign, just the typical different categories of racing, like "Tuner", "Stock" or "Touring" and you just select the event, buy or get in a car, and race.
    4) The only customization you can do is on the liveries.
    5) There's no sense of speed (or at least it doesn't correlate with the speed I see on the HUD).

    The good:
    1) They brought back the cockpit camera, which was something great from the first Grid that was missing in the others.

The game feels unfinished, radically different from the original Grid (2007). No career racer from the bottom to the top, no garage with the team, not even epic music in the replays of the race - everything is simplified. There is a list of races and cars, choose and go - racing without a soul.

It's with real sadness that I have to say, this game is a disappointment to me.

I loved the original Grid, and I've been a general fan of Codemasters racing games, particularly the Dirt series. I loved the original Grid, and I've been a general fan of Codemasters racing games, particularly the Dirt series. When they announced a reboot of the Grid series, promising a spiritual return to the first game in the series, I had hoped for a game that just improved on what made the first game great, expanded on the back-then unique features such as team management, and most of all kept (and preferably improved upon) the feeling of ownership, of being a part of this team and progressing.

That isn't there at all. Sure, the racing itself is fine. A bit more arcadey than I would personally prefer, but I can't fault Codemasters for that - they haven't made any attempt to hide what this game is, and that's fine. But that's all there is.
Sure, you can earn money and buy cars in the most simplistic possible way, and you can choose liveries for them, but there's no real feeling of ownership.
You can replace your co-driver, but that's all there is for the team management, and since you never talk to this driver over the radio, there's little feeling of difference. It's just a couple of stats for skill, aggression and so on that get switched out.
You no longer hire sponsors like in the first game, nor can you design a livery that is the face of the entire team.

The career mode is a downright embarrassment. It's just a grid list of races in different categories. Zero feeling of progression and team accomplishments.

The new Grid reminds me of a stripped down Project Cars 1 with arcade physics. And that's not a criticism of Project Cars, because that never pretended to be anything more than racing. But Grid was supposed to be more than that. It was supposed to continue the series' legacy of a certain feeling. Ownership, companionship, team efforts, planning for races and earning new sponsors. And none of that is here. There is no content at all.

It’s disheartening to see that Codemasters wasn’t even trying. On its own, new Grid is an okay arcade racing game, but it’s hard to ignore that the previous one was far better. [Issue#242, p.56]

There’s truly a decent game here with its foundational systems that could be developed into a more well-rounded title. But as it stands this is a £45 game, it is neither fair nor warranted that this game is just okay. Codemaster’s had already promised ahead of its release that Grid (2019) would be receiving a bevy of further racetracks, cars and modes for its player base. Yet with a dwindling interest, this seems too little too late.
