Beautiful history and interesting mechanics. The game is far from be perfect, not so good as RPG and also not good as action, but solid and fun to play.

I have very mixed feelings about this game. No matter how much I wanted to, it was a game that I couldn't get into and I couldn't play for long hours. First of all, the optimization of the game is very bad. The gameplay and story are also very ordinary and boring after a short while. If I manage to play it in the future, maybe I will change the review.

    Solid game.

I just hope the game improves what the first one did good. It just needed to be more darker. the big problem i had with the game were the moral choices. there is only good and bad. you good choices will have NO consequences. Even though the world building is good the game follows a narrow linear path, it doesn't feel truly open world which is quite barren and empty, a lot of the areas look the same boring, nothing feels exciting or worth trying to explore as it's just empty and you aren't faced with making any hard drastic choices. You get minor choices such as to spare someone or kill them.
The game doesn't have much depth.

It has quite a lot of errors in dialogue of mixing up him and her, she and he even in the same sentence.
e.g. I was talking to a male NPC as part of a quest and the dialogue to select says: ask her about what he has done since crossing.

Combat is nothing special, rather boring just spam left mouse button a couple of times, dodge and repeat till dead.
In combat companions repeatedly say the same phrases continuously way too much, which is annoying and make the characters seem more like machines and less like real people. Just saying a phrase once in battle would be more realistic or to have much more variety in what they say.

This game is no where near a fantastic game, it doesn't do anything amazing or epic, only does most things sufficiently but not excellently.

I'd rate it 6/10 ok. Needs a lot of improvement to be a good game. I don't hate the game nor do I love it.
I recommend only on sale and if you value story over polish and game play as despite the games short comings I enjoyed following the story and doing most quests.

TL;DR - In lot of ways this game reminds me of Witcher 2, and Mass Effect 1, both in style of game, but also in sense that it feels like it would join the all time greats such as Witcher 3, and Mass Effect 2 if the team behind it had the bigger budget and capacity

Things I disliked most: ❌Lack of environment variety - cities and open-world kind of feel the same. Unique quests do set

    Things I disliked most:
❌Lack of environment variety - cities and open-world kind of feel the same. Unique quests do set them apart, but it is definitely something noticable after 10-15 hours of gameplay
❌ Lack of enemy variety - what I mean by this is mostly aimed at those brown bear-like creatures, there are soo many of them, and it becomes very annoying to see them for 100th time. What makes it noticable is that all of them have this dark/brown color, so even if there is different enemy, because it has same color it feels like it's same enemy.
❌ (small nitpick) Not being able to fast travel from anywhere - this is very small thing, but after ~15 hours it was bit annoying that I couldn't just teleport to other areas, but had to walk to the campfire and then teleport, it's not big issue but something that annoyed me

    Things I liked most:
✔️Ability to solve quests in multiple ways - Here is some example - you can convince guards to let you in, you can disquise yourself as sailor and walk around like in Hitman games, you can craft bomb and blow up wall, you can make sleeping pills and poison drink so guards fall a sleep, or you can just fight through. In my opinion this is essence of great RPG and this game has it! :)
✔️RPG mechanics - charisma, science, crafting, vigor, lockpicking etc. they aren't all feel like they have place and are useful, while at same time not feeling like they are too much
✔️Story, characters and quality of quests - absolute highlight of game, quests are on par with some of the best RPGs out there, very fun.
✔️Being able to pause time in fight and plan out next move - YES, more games need to add this, it reminds me of Dragon Age Origins
✔️Companions - All are unique, interesting, have well written lines, great quests associated with them, and you can romance them. They have been great addition to the journey, and they don't make game too easy, so no reason to not bring them with you.
✔️Boss fights are cool + combat is fun - it's not Sekiro/Elden Ring, but it's pretty good, it doesn't feel too hard, and it doesn't feel too easy, I have played as technician and combat felt balanced on Hard difficulty
✔️Arena - I love when RPG has arena, and this one is fun + has nice quests associated with it.

All in all, I have enjoyed this game very much, and am excited to see what devs do for the future! I will recommend this game to anybody who enjoyed more "talk" oriented RPGs (like Witcher and Mass Effect)

I really wanted to like Greedfall, it looked different to the typical fantasy RPGs. The colonial era setting isn't common, and playing as a colonising force seemed like an interesting take on the genre. In actuality, the game is unappealing and a chore to play. The controls are floaty and the combat is simple and unengaging. It clearly is trying to follow in the footsteps of FromSoft games, and it fails in this regard.
Another missed step is how Greedfall attempts to mimic BioWare RPGs like Dragon Age or Mass Effect. The critical mistake is making the protagonist too fully voiced and giving no real choice. Each dialogue I encountered in the first few hours of the game played out like a cutscene, with usually a small inconsequential choice of what question to ask the NPC. Instead of just asking one thing, my character would launch into entire dialogues. It felt less like a conversation I had any control over, and more like I was in a choose your own adventure novel. I think if the developers had just taken away the choices and made the character how they wanted, it would have turned out better.

The visuals are a letdown, because the design of the world looks good, but the game is so poorly optimised that even with a decently powerful computer, the game shudders and floats even on medium settings. The character designs are cool as well, but terrible facial animation makes cutscenes look awful, like something from the PS3 or XBOX360 at some points.

All in all, I think this game has potential. Buy it on a big sale, try it, and if it doesn't pull you in quickly, return it. If the setting really grabs you, I hope you enjoy it. As one of the few people who enjoys Too Human, I know how much a setting and art direction can make someone love a game other people hate.

A few things make plot-driven Bioware-style RPG stand out: style and setting, focused gameplay, and, unsurprisingly, the plot. Let's get the easy one out of the way: the new world of Teer Fradee island is undoubtedly the exciting and stylish highlight of the game. Outdated graphics and stiff animations are a given for an AA studio, of course, but it’s the designs that count, and Greedfall has some memorable ones. Spiders deserve credit for always trying to come up with something original for their settings, no matter the results. The colonial aesthetic, consistent faction designs and well-realised geography of the island all do a great job of immersing you into the world. The music is nothing special or memorable, but it somehow fits the mood incredibly well. Some environments, especially indoors, are barren and downright repeated, but cutting these corners is understandable.

Now, onto the hard part. The gameplay is a wash. Combat is just adequate, in animations at least (and at last, Spiders!), but there's no system worth exploring, mastering or even mentioning. Exploration, crafting, progression system - all the same: sufficient, shallow, nothing you haven't seen before. It's wrong to decry the game for doing just decently, but Spiders need to step up their game if they want to get noticed, need to add some spice because this gameplay is the equivalent of oatmeal porridge at this point.

Now to the spicy part, then. The colonialism. The game is weird about it. It bashes you over the head with "colonialism bad" and "go green", which is the right message, but it struggles to get nuanced, apart from showing that there are indeed good and bad people on both sides. It's not terribly boring or black-and-white, and as far as themes go this one is not bad at all, but you never feel invested or as you've been told something meaningful. Also, the whole story very much revolves around the magical negro (native in this case) shtick, once again. Good characters might've helped, but barring the player character, De Sardet, who's surprisingly interesting to roleplay, and Siora, your companion and Vergil-type figure on your journey through the native lands, the game lacks any memorable faces.

Greedfall barely manages to make its mediocre gameplay and heavy-handed story not to feel like a slog, so if you're into exploring a beautifully realised native island while feeling smug for doing it the right, environmentalist way and not like your colonialist peers, approach this game leniently.

It's an old school game, with discrete levels in place of a continuous open world; in itself, that's not bad and the levels are large enough, but the graphics are definitely meh, and the yellowish tint doesn't help its visuals. From the very start, the adjective summing up my impressions has been "clunky". Movement, quest structure, the dialogs... it all feels like a low budget C-movie. What really buries any chance of enjoyment is combat. I picked a mage and decided to play, as I almost always do, on hard difficulty. Combat consists of facing 4-5 enemies attacking nonstop, since the rest of your team usually gets KO'ed in about 5 seconds. But hey, cross an invisible line a small distance from where you started and the enemies instantly recover 100% energy, sheathe their weapons and return to their starting point, while your sidekicks also revive. There is a parrying mechanic which works well against humans, but fails miserably on beasts, who have no clear attack pattern. Also, when facing two or three enemies at a time, parrying suddenly loses relevance. A magical dodge/teleport skill transports you in the middle of an enemy group, rather than where you are pointing. In short, combat sucks. Badly.
Oh wait, the rest does too. Cliched characters, cringeworthy dialog, embarrassingly stupid quests, super ultra bland skill tree. While most RPGs are guilty of one or two of the above faults, Greedfall greedily embraces each and every one, maybe that's where the name comes from.

I played Greedfall almost for 60 hours. But it feels like I spend my 40 hours for running, 15 hours for conversations and rest 5 hours for the combat. I played Greedfall almost for 60 hours. But it feels like I spend my 40 hours for running, 15 hours for conversations and rest 5 hours for the combat. I would like to talk about 3 most annoying thing about this game. And I think developers made the first two annoying part to make the game longer but instead they make it boring.

First one is repetitive side quests. If you ready to go same places over and over and over and over again this game is for you. Did you get bored while reading it. Good, because that’s how side quests are. Let me give you an example. In a quest you need to follow a soldier too see where he is going and see that he visits a secret chest. After few more steps you follow a sailor from port to the same secret chest location. Then you turn back to port to inform his captain. The captain wants to see it with her own eyes so you took her to location. Then after a quick fight the captain you inform gives her thanks to you and return to the port. After you loot the corpse of the sailor guess what. You need to go back to port to give the goddamn loot to captain who was with you few minutes ago. Almost all side quests are the same. You visit same barracks, same tavern and governor buildings thousands of times. And every tavern, barracks and governor buildings are copy paste of each other.

As for the second annoying part of this game. There is invisible walls all around. There is no minimap in this game instead they put same indicator from skyrim on top and the big map itself looks too messy that you can easily go to wrong road. A little example, there is two roads in front of you and you go to the left one by mistake. Then you notice you need to go to right one after some time. There is only trees on your way to right road and you think you can pass it because you can see the road. No sir you can't because there is invisible walls there and you need to go walk back hundreds of meters to enter the right road.

As for the third one, it feels like this game based on melee classes. There are too many weapons and armor around for melee classes while there is none for mage. But melee classes lack dps while mage is too OP. Combat itself is nothing special. Bosses are really simple. Even sometimes they can't hit you because they miss you even when you're standing still.

For the general I don’t mention ugly character detail. Same enemies (there is only bats, hounds and bandits beside the bosses in whole game). Bad animations. Repetitive combat. Hollow cities and the list goes on.

The only thing keeps me playing this game was its interesting story. But in general, is it a bad game? No but its not good either.

So if you are thirsty for an RPG and missing the old school Dragon Age style this game is for you. But if you don’t have the patience to run and visit the same places over and over again don’t even try it.

Greedfall is a tough game to judge. It's neither bad nor great. It comes staggeringly close to greatness in a number of areas, but it just lacks the polish or ambition to go further. If you're looking for a nostalgic trip back to the mid-2000s style of WRPGs, then you'll find a lot to like in Greedfall. It's worth a shot if you're a fan of that style of games. In a year that gave us titles like Disco Elysium, it's difficult to be particularly impressed by something that is merely standard.
