    Visuals: 6/10
The game looks good all around.
The world design is decent, but big minus for invisibile walls. Also the lip sync is atrocious, which is a no-go for a story driven RPG. The equipment and factions all look very similar, which becomes very boring, very quickly. The UI looks like a more adult version of Fisher-Price. Lots of unnecessary elements and handholding there.

    Sound: 8/10
Decent in any regard, voiceover, music, sfx... Just nothing really memorable.

    Story: 2/10
    Nope.
    Just no.
The setting sounds interesting, but the devs didn't do anything interesting with it. The story itself is pretty much counter-productive for what makes an RPG enjoyable. The factions hardly differ from each other. The player character has no personality whatsoever. All the characters in the game are extremely one-dimensional. The game doesn't even have an interesting goal and there are hardly any real choices for the player to make.
Also the whole story is stretched out way too long for what little content there actually is to it.
Also, again, the lipsynch is just so bad, it destroys any possible immersion in the game when looking at their mouths while watching one of the way too many cutscenes in the game.

    Gameplay: 4/10
Nothing new here, literally. Just a bunch of things copied from other games. There is a armor mechanic, which in essence is just another layer of hitpoints, so that doesn't count either. Even if it would, it's so minor it doesn't even matter.
In combat the player feels disconnected from the action due to the nonsensical camera handling.
The combat system itself is extremely simple. But it's overall workable. Just not fun enough for more than one playthrough.
Exploration? Not for you! Invisible walls everywhere, nothing to really discover, minimap and common buildings in cities being mazes are sure to ruin any possible joy out of exploring the world.
The companions are very annoying with their constant commentary during combat.
The Balancing is absolutely horrible. Lots of abilities that completely negate game mechanics and also lots of abilities that are utterly pointless.
The RPG mechanics couldn't be any more simplistic and vanilla than in this game.
Also UI is a huge mess and destroys any possible immersion in the game.

    Summary: 5/10

Greedfall is yet another soulless RPG made by ticking little boxes on a checklist.
It doesn't do anything better than any other RPG.
It doesn't have a single creative idea in it.
It is very average in most regards and horrible in some others. Regrettably, there isn't a single thing in the game that could even be considered as above average. Except for the Sound, but that isn't exactly a reason to play game.
It raises the question why the devs even bothered making this game... though obviously it's just a cashgrab by disillusioned devs that ran out of ideas a long time ago.

So if you love RPGs and looking for an all in all slightly below average one, this is your game.
Though ultimately another run of Dark Souls, Nioh, Breath of the Wild, Gothic or even Witcher or Skyrim will be more enjoyable than this.

The what most mentions are setup, you have to run for along distance somewhere and than back to where you came from, but the worst part is you might have to do this several times in 1 mission. The side content can be enjoyable but it to a point where there are too many side story because they seem like all the rest. Not enough enemy variety at all and I hate the in between when traveling. Also when your done with a mission instead of fast traveling you to the nearest fast travel they make you run to it and it could be far. The way the maps are set up they want you to spend a lot of time running to make the game longer. I honestly spent about 40 hours when the game should have been 15-25 hours long, but the padded out story, running and bad map design added 10-15 hours to it and made me dread the last 10-15 hours of playing. The fighting was fun, but if you wanting to play for the story......I don’t think 40 hours is quite worth it unless you willing to indoor Death-stranding running on steroids. Expand

I enjoyed the game its not bad at all but it has too much backtracking and some quests are just not worth it. Still the combat is fun and the final boss was very souls like but was done well. But copypasted enemies and bosses and some are not so interesting. Everything felt a little bit shallow I didnt get into it that much.

I really wanted to like Greedfall, it looked different to the typical fantasy RPGs. The colonial era setting isn't common, and playing as a colonising force seemed like an interesting take on the genre. In actuality, the game is unappealing and a chore to play. The controls are floaty and the combat is simple and unengaging. It clearly is trying to follow in the footsteps of FromSoft games, and it fails in this regard.
Another missed step is how Greedfall attempts to mimic BioWare RPGs like Dragon Age or Mass Effect. The critical mistake is making the protagonist too fully voiced and giving no real choice. Each dialogue I encountered in the first few hours of the game played out like a cutscene, with usually a small inconsequential choice of what question to ask the NPC. Instead of just asking one thing, my character would launch into entire dialogues. It felt less like a conversation I had any control over, and more like I was in a choose your own adventure novel. I think if the developers had just taken away the choices and made the character how they wanted, it would have turned out better.

The visuals are a letdown, because the design of the world looks good, but the game is so poorly optimised that even with a decently powerful computer, the game shudders and floats even on medium settings. The character designs are cool as well, but terrible facial animation makes cutscenes look awful, like something from the PS3 or XBOX360 at some points.

All in all, I think this game has potential. Buy it on a big sale, try it, and if it doesn't pull you in quickly, return it. If the setting really grabs you, I hope you enjoy it. As one of the few people who enjoys Too Human, I know how much a setting and art direction can make someone love a game other people hate.

Not bad, but not great either. If there's anything this game reminds me of - it's Dragon Age 2. There's almost no chance to do a quest incorrectly, neither there are enough weighted moral desicions throughout the quests. Frankly speaking, with how often the quests turned out with "native man good and wise, colonizer man bad and destructive", I started thinking that the senion designer is probably female. Wasn't wrong. Not that it's the biggest fault of this game, but it definately substracted from already linear storytelling. Combat isn't bad, but it's' not interesting either, especially with how broken the parry button is. Endings are disappointing, they probably intended for something else, but how can I tell now. Level design is, once again, most like Dragon Age 2 and that's not a particular compliment. Class level isn't engaging or distinct. RPG is lackluster, unless your intent is to play out the diplomat, which is basically the only correct option. Still, the game provides 30-40 hours of tolerable gameplay and story and a couple of meaningful decisions, so might as well recommend to pick it up, while it's on sale. Expand

Those who compare it to old Bioware games are not far off the mark – the story doesn't re-invent the wheel but it is interesting enough to keep you going and there are different paths and choices you can take during quests. Your decisions bear consequences but nothing immediately obvious or extraordinaire. There are 3 different skill trees (Warrior, Technical, Magic) – Warrior is straightforward, Technical is flashy and Magic is both underwhelming and over-powered.

The game’s weakest points lie in its combat, animations, vast yet empty world, over-used assets and an ending that was obviously rushed. Facial animations leave a lot to be desired and can be almost compared to ME:A, but it’s not critical if you can overlook such things. I, myself, grew used to them after a while. The world is, too large for what it offers, a poor design choice in all honesty, since a more condensed but meaningful experience could have proven more fruitful in the long run.

If you’re a detail-oriented player you will notice oddly identical interiors and clones everywhere, this is particularly noticeable when you visit the governors’ manors in each town. Last but not least – the ending. It felt like the devs poured a lot of effort into the beginning and mid sections of the game only to realize they were running out of time and resources to do everything they wanted to. The ending is abrupt, followed by a slideshow depicting your choices and the consequences thereof.

Overall, it’s not the kind of game that I'd play a second time but I did enjoy my time with it. I consider it Spiders' best title yet. I would play a sequel.

PS: There is romance in the game, including gay options, but don’t expect it to be meaningful and deep. Although modding is a thing for Greedfall, it's not officially supported since the devs never released the tools for it, nor did they plan to. What exists and can be done, is limited.

The game gets an A for Ambition, and the studio has certainly learned since the days of the technomancer.

And they get an AA like in "AA-game", for trying to establish that term as an excuse for the game's shortcomings. I guess from now on I'm supposed to imagine how great a game could have been, if the developers had enough money? There's a long line of AAA failures in the past year

I guess from now on I'm supposed to imagine how great a game could have been, if the developers had enough money? There's a long line of AAA failures in the past year that say otherwise. And Greedfall certainly doesn't have to hide from the Anthems and Fallouts 0.76 out there.

It's far from perfect, and it misses something to focus on, that one really *great* thing among all the mediocre writing and graphics and mechanics. Everything seems to be designed to make a good first impression, but doesn't have any depth to it. It gets stale very fast because the game is pushing every button in the first two hours, and then just stops progressing in any discipline.

You *think* you've got a lot of RPG skills and ways to solve problems, but most of the time it comes down to which of the three doors (the locked one, the exploding wall one or the open one where you have to talk to people) you choose, and more than once I ran into at least one of the other "solutions" by accident.

Other times you know exactly what the "solution" is going to be, but you still have to run across town several times to activate the scenario where you can get to work on that solution. You have elements like climbable walls and super obvious "blocked" doors that tell you exactly where a mission will take place and how it's going to be long before that scenario is activated. And yet they still have you backtracking across the whole city twice and more to "solve" that mystery.

Is that how great RPGs work? No. Mediocre RPGs that bit off more than they can chew, yes. So they should really keep in mind that they have limits the next time instead of turning it into an excuse.

And they have to do something about the facial animations OR do a LOTR game where everyone is the mouth of Sauron.

There are distinct zones that all have predetermined paths, like Dragon Age: Origins (which people are wont to compare this game to -- it doesn't come close, though). Unlike that game, there is no interesting, choice-heavy dialogue or challenging, engaging combat. Instead, dialogue is almost completely linear, and any choices you make are essentially irrelevant. As far as combat is concerned, it is mind-numbingly easy compared to something like DA:O, even on the highest difficulty (note that difficulty in this game only affects how much damage you take). Character customization is extremely shallow. Companions cannot be customized beyond their gear. The story is decent, but considering there is virtually no player choice involved (and I mean it, there are no big decisions to make here like DA:O with the exception of the ending), I was just too bored to go on with it. This feels like a Dragon Age: Origins knock-off of decidedly lesser quality. Absolutely not worth $50 -- $20 sounds more reasonable, and even then I would hesitate purchasing.

Quests have many ways you can do things

So the game overall is good. the story progression is nice but the combat and game play needs a lot of improvement. and there is no suggestion of how difficult the quest is for a particular level or what is the recommended level for the quest. Many RPG games have it and that's a must have, in my opinion.

This is not terrible, but it is mediocre.
The facial animation might actually be worse than Andromeda.
The writing is poor, and fetch quests galore. Combat is average, control with a pad is janky and jittery.

+ Story is kind of ok, somehow

    Bad
    - Vast and empty areas, my finger really hurt bad from keeping the sprint button permanently pressed
    - There is hardly anything to explore anyway, you should not do it unless sent
    - Towns and interiors are copy and paste, a lot of paste. Even the 3 town layouts are just basically variations. Interiors are nearly identical
    - Hardly any variation in animals and fighting ... the same groups of beast herds over and over
    - People and animals do nothing except standing around and for beasts sleeping sometimes
    - No children, makes no sense. People do nothing all day.
    - There is quite a a lot of different armor and weapons, but they always have the same stats and at some point you only want the uniques anyway
    - Gameplay and fighting is boring. I used about 2-3 magic skills as a mage. Everything died so fast, that probably one skill is enough in most cases.

I think they made the mistake of going for a big, open world, with pretty visuals.
They tried to keep the story and the voicing high, but they ultimatly failed on size, at interesting details, with game mechanics and with delivering motivation to play.

Terrible animations, bland combat (a lot of it is just M1 spam), boring/uninteresting loot, humdrum uncompelling world and narrative which railroads you for the most part with few to no interesting choices to make. The entire game world looks mostly the same with many overly reused assets (almost as bad as the attrocities commited by Dragon Age 2), there is very little enemy diversity, and quests can be quite tedious with a lot of running back and forth.

The only one strong point I can think of is that a lot of the voice acting is quite well done (with a strong exception in the companion Siora) - but this just makes it even more tragic that everything they're saying is trash in terms of quality story telling. The content of what they're actually saying is mostly a snorefest, but at least they sound good saying it (and it's too bad their character models' mouths and expressions don't match at all either).

I need to play anotherRPG to check if i'm the one that don't like rpg anymore, or if it is this type of rpg that made me feel like scooby doo gang in the 17th century; mission: talk to this guy to blablablabla *you talk to they guy* its not me, talk to this other guy to blablabalabla *you talk to the other guy* not me either, etc. i felt like a fool running stupid errands for blend people,I need to play anotherRPG to check if i'm the one that don't like rpg anymore, or if it is this type of rpg that made me feel like scooby doo gang in the 17th century; mission: talk to this guy to blablablabla *you talk to they guy* its not me, talk to this other guy to blablabalabla *you talk to the other guy* not me either, etc. i felt like a fool running stupid errands for blend people, in a pretty beautiful but pretty isolate world with like 4 kinds of different enemies, bumping into objects and being stuck, on them.
talking about enemies, damn, the combact system is so bad, i was actually sad about it. i thought maybe i'd have lots of fun fighting, like with many differentattacks and powers and whatever, but meh, quite boring and frustrating.

    GreedFall
    Full of Potential
Greedfall is an open worldish rpg where you play as your own created character as they set out to find a cure for a plague taking over the lands… And im gonna get right to the point.. the story here is sooo boring, it wont pull you through this 19 hour adventure at all… I couldn’t tell your character names or plots.. I just couldn’t bother to care… except

And im gonna get right to the point.. the story here is sooo boring, it wont pull you through this 19 hour adventure at all… I couldn’t tell your character names or plots.. I just couldn’t bother to care…
except for of course my character and my characters cousin…
So naturally the game must rely on its gameplay… and thankfully this is where Greedfall shines.
GreeFall very quickly reminded me of Dragon Age Origins with a slight hint of assassins creed and the witcher…
As you progress the game youll gain a party with hteir own quests, you can equip them with better items and gear throughout your journey….
structure wise the game is the same from start to finish.. run to a travel marker or campfire.. fast travel to the quest location.. run to the spot on the map while you fight enemies in between, listen to some boring dialog… rinse and repeat until you get to an exciting boss battle…
If you’ve played 2 hours of GreedFall you’ve played all hours of greedfall… nothing changes.
But there was just something about it that kept me hook, icouldnt put this game down…
Im not quite sure what It is… but despite the gamplay not changing up, and the story being so boring.. I couldn’t help but want to see this journey through to its end…
it had some sortve spell on me…
    Despite all of its problems..
There are essentially 2 different section to the world.. city and forest…
Every city, every forest look and feel nearly identical from the outside to the insides
enemies are few and far between.. but the hook was there.. leveling up… dumping my skills into a tree, making my character stronger and stronger… which does bring me to the biggest issue I have with this game…
    Leveling here is painfully slow…
Sadly you kind of have to stick to one thing and one thing only per playthrough…
You cant have a character that can carry powerful weapons and have heavy armor for example.. you just cant…
Due to how slow points are given for each of the 3 trees, you have to really specialize in one thing which I don’t mind too much… but that was until the game was basically forcing me to choose certain skilsl towards the end of the story.. youre forced to craft items only about 4 times in the story.. but still to craft those 4 items you have no choice but to dump two skill points into areas you may otherwise not care to build upon..
If im a warrior I shouldn’t be forced to dump my skills into science if im not crafting potions the whole game…
This breaks the otherwise feeling of freedom the game has…
Youre free to treat character in this game any way youd like, there are no fail states to missions… if youre detected when youre told not to you just have to fight your way through and figure things out from there…
But forcing you to spend your points in a game that rarely hands those points out just really bothered me.. if youre going to make item crafting necessary for story progression, you shouldn’t also tie it to a skill and force me to use my remapping crystals.
All in all though GreedFall has so much potential…
With more incentive to explore, less item binding to certain skills or at the very least more points to spend as you level and a better story I believe GreedFall 2 or whatever spyder decides to do next could be even better…
    I give GreedFall
    a 7/10

Just finished game at 38 lvl. The game is not bad. But after the second part, it becomes boring. Boring plot and too easy fighting. Even on the hardest difficulty. I like the ending, thanks for the possibility to choose. Also, the design of all 3 cities is great. Haven't seen this before. So overall, the game is great, BUT toooo long, it must have been ended much earlier.

Do you like Old RPG such as Dragon age: origin? or Risen? if so, this game will be your good choice. there are a ton of side quests, lore telling, item gathering. and A LOT OF TALKING. they don't hold back on giving information. there will be sometimes that you find yourself walking around just talking. however, the story is interesting, not the best, but enough for you to cling on it.Do you like Old RPG such as Dragon age: origin? or Risen? if so, this game will be your good choice. there are a ton of side quests, lore telling, item gathering. and A LOT OF TALKING. they don't hold back on giving information. there will be sometimes that you find yourself walking around just talking. however, the story is interesting, not the best, but enough for you to cling on it. combat system is so old school, slash, shortcut for skill. there are plenty of skill to play around. not much though. the choices in the game matters.

if you like the game I mention (plus King dom of Amalur: reckoning) this game is a good choice) if not I suggested you to try those game first. some system of this kind of games can be annoying for some people. ENJOY

GreedFall boasts a unique, semi-open world in which to immerse yourself, but is held back by the limitations of its game engine.

The Spiders studio didn´t take players‘ comments on the previous titles seriously, and they repeat the same mistakes. GreedFall offers an interesting world, full of amazing characters and ideas, but lacks in other aspects. [Issue#298]

Greedfall is a tough game to judge. It's neither bad nor great. It comes staggeringly close to greatness in a number of areas, but it just lacks the polish or ambition to go further. If you're looking for a nostalgic trip back to the mid-2000s style of WRPGs, then you'll find a lot to like in Greedfall. It's worth a shot if you're a fan of that style of games. In a year that gave us titles like Disco Elysium, it's difficult to be particularly impressed by something that is merely standard.
