It’s straight up decent to be real. Most people just rate it horrible because there are some features that are ripped from other games and awful community exists. If you actually play it, you can kinda enjoy it.

It's really amazing and fun at the beginning of the game. However, as it proceeds it becomes more boring and draining, especially after AR 50. More further, we can easily say that there is almost nothing to do after AR 55.

It is a good pastime. I like to do my dailies commissions and farm some artifacts while hearing an podcast since the game doesn't really need the full awareness of the player but I really only play because of the rewards (primogens), it isn't funny at all to farm the same set for de 908th or to do the same stupid commission to protect a Ballon for the 67th time.

The story of the game is just a miss or hit, some are good, others are not. One thing annoying is the amount of unnecessary dialogues this game has that doesn't add anything to the stories or the event and it is just an annoying thing between you and 60 free primogens that 80% of the time is just worth it 1/3 of a wish that you get a literally useless 3* weapon.

Many people complain about the gatcha system and I agree it sucks sometimes. I had my bad moments but also has lucky moments. I like this system simply because I am 100% F2P and honestly I have all characters that I need to beat any challenge in this game and if I managed to get this without paying 1 cent, at least for me, this system worked just fine so I don't have any reason to complain. I think people have to know, they can't have all characters in the game. They need 2 top-tier DPS and pull for good supports only.

The combat system is cool, many people say they don't like the Spiral Abyss, I like it. I pretty much always get 36* on every abyss reset, not because 50 primogens are a great reward (they are trash) but because I like the challenge that only floor 12 (and sometimes floor 11) bring to the game. I always wanted more content like Spiral Abyss or new floors but Mihoyo never brought it. It is a shame, so I can only play Spiral Abyss every 2 weeks.

The exploration of this game is one of my favorite parts. I like to solve puzzles and explore the world and the maps of this game is really beautiful. It is a shame that the content ends so fast.

The graphics of this game are ok, the models of the characters are kinda bad, they lack models of musculus type of characters. Actually, they pretty much only have 3 models of characters, child characters, teen characters and adult characters. All are slim.

The actual cost of the game varies from “free” to “outright extortative”, and anyone with impulse control problems should never, ever, ever play this game, as it will try to fleece you for all that you’re worth.

The game’s core mechanics drive you towards grinding, but the result is that the amount of “fun” gameplay you get will ever dwindle over time.

All in all, as much fun as I had with this game starting out, I can’t recommend it. It’s a game that tries to eat your life, and it is unfinished to boot.

Maybe when the plot is finished, you could just pick it up and play it as a free open-world game. But you’d have to be able to ignore the myriad ways in which the game is trying to get you to open your wallet and devour your time.

All in all, this is a game to be avoided, not because of its low quality, but because of its incomplete nature and attempt at eating your life and wallet.

It's a copy of a popular game to sell gacha, nothing more. Environments and mechanics were lifted straight out of BotW to sell this generic, low-key slot machine featuring poorly animated females.

    good:
    * Looks nice but that's a given since it's a clone of a good looking game
    * Element reactions are fun
    * Exploring has it's moments

    Bad:

    * lack of main story content

    * often, poor subtitles don't match what the characters are saying

    * cringe dialogue that is neither engaging or smart, really just grown people acting and sounding like children

    * MC is thousands of years old, was a powerhouse (loses his powers ala Samus) and yet acts and looks like a teenager without the street savviness you'd expect from someone that is thousands of years old

    * Everything is a grind-fest. Weapon? Grind materials, mora (in-game gold) and experience items. characters? skills? level up? food items? weapon refining? EVERYTHING is a soul-sucking grind-fest
of multiple materials locked behind chambers only open certain IRL days of the week and costs insane amounts of mora so you'll constantly be grinding with minor returns. or you could grease the gears a little bit (or a lot) with some cold hard cash *nudge*nudge*.

    * co-op is a mess, want to play with just one friend? TOO BAD! we are sticking you with random people whether or not you like it! We'll also randomly drop people in mid-match for cannon fodder.

    * Low summon (aka gambling) rates. Ironically, the rates are so bad to get some animated boobs most weebs would probably have better luck IRL.

    * can someone explain why I need flowers to ascend a character to a new level? Do they eat the damn flowers?! None of this crap makes any sense. They didn't even try. You don't have 1000 masks of the many slain Hilichurls (which they have lowered rates on after all pre-mature ejaculation from weebs)? Too bad, now you can't be stronger.

    * The main point of the game (unfortunately) and the worst: boobs look like jello unmitigated by gravity so just standing still they are flying all over the place S E P A R A T E L Y. Again, cringe community proud of their pathetic cringe so don't bother trying to discuss this with anyone who identifies as Otaku or weeb. Imagine if they incorporated these unrealistic physics on a guys crotch. You'll have their two balls flying around just standing still. Hilarious...until the weeb community gets involved and does their cringe crap.

    * Otaku community. If you aren't one of them, you'll have a bad time interacting with the community. Every other sentence is blatant predatory and cringe. You'll never meet a group of more pathetic people proud of being sexual predators. What's worse, majority of characters are at least modeled after to be/act/look like teenagers or children to up the creep meter.

    * game gets a free pass to be **** because it's f2p and the target demographic (pathetic teens with no money and pathetic man-babies with no friends) eat this anime loli **** up.

    * main story quests are locked behind Adventure Rank (levels). there are only two main story arcs. the second one is an annoying long fetch quest. go here get this, bring this there, ad nauseam. The rest is just terrible filler junk that will have you roaming around looking for materials and treasure chests until you've lost your grip on reality and fun.

    * every sidequests is some pathetic sob story: "my daddy's gone I miss him...can you deliver this one flower to him thousands of miles away for 200 mora?"

    * Paimon

    * Limited interaction with the random people you find in the world. Just some basic dialogue usually.

    * Other thoughts: I wish there was more enemies vs enemies situations. It pretty much seems the entire world is out to get you. There are times you will fight treasure hoarders, Fatui and whopper flower all at once. Somehow, there is a secret pact that if they see you in the world they will team up to **** your **** up. Also, NPC friendlies don't react to their environment and are unaffected by enemies around them.

all in all: it's everything you'd expect from a gacha, crappy rates, poor storytelling, all in a attempt to sell you some animated boobs. This game is the definition of the ongoing battle between the West vs East of gaming. This type of gaming is popular in Asian countries where "fun" is often times synonymous with "grind-fest" and misinterpreted as "rewarding". There's enough articles out there that go into depth about the split of the gaming community but you'll quickly see the fans of this title will be, by and large, Asian. Youtubers don't count as they are just following the money and are often paid advertisements promoting the **** out of this terrible game.

They are also overly stingy with ways to earn primogems in game. They've gacha'd this game too hard, and releasing this game on PC and PS4 makes this heavy gacha even more ridiculous.

Keep the gacha, just don't be so stingy with it. I want to give the game an 8, but the resin problem really collapses this score to a 5.

The game is also incredibly easy outside of the abyss, almost to the point where you wonder why you're even playing.

Genshin Impact is nice for a free-to-play cross-platform RPG; the singleplayer and the story is enough to warrant a separate game, but it's all included free of charge, and executed wonderfully with its pretty anime-style graphics, cute voice acting and overall praiseworthy design.

Unfortunately, a significant portion of the game's progression system is locked behind a paywall that is not only unreasonably expensive, but also purely lootboxes. There are no direct purchase microtransactions in this game whatsoever. Now, I can forgive lootboxes that contain nothing but aesthetics, but weapons, characters and a section of character upgrades can only be attained by spending real money. While Mihoyo is generous enough to give rewards in the form of currencies so that you can access lootboxes by simply grinding the game, it is however a slow grind, and I believe it is practically impossible to max out any of your characters by relying on the freebies.

Additionally, there are only a very limited amount of weapons and weapon types available in-game, and surprise surprise they are all locked behind lootboxes. Moreover, the simplistic skill system and lack of more enemy types make the combat minimalistic, if not shallow for what you would call an RPG game, even if it's on mobile.

Don't get me started on a resource system that limits your ability to obtain rewards by consuming "resins", which are units that refreshes over time. Of course, you can spend real money to expedite the attainment of this resource.

The game also sports a poorly executed multiplayer mode. Genshin Impact's coop system lacks content, activities and it does nothing to encourage you to play multiplayer. It's a nice addition, but it is an afterthought.

Genshin Impact has great potential, however it is ruined by greedy business tactics and lack of ambition. You want to play Genshin impact? Have fun, but don't get too attached.

Another bad point is the limited respawn of monsters and bosses, you need an increasing number of itens to upgrade your characters and weapons, the resource is limited to a daily respawn of monsters and to gated chests from bosses where you have to spend resin a type of resource that you slowly generate through the day, you can buy Resin with your limited gacha currency or real money.
So after you open all the chests in the world and do the main story of the game you will be in a spot where you have 4 daily quests, some random events that can appear or not, some chests that may or may not respawn (like 10 or so in the vast world), monsters that you kill and they take 24h/daily reset to respawn, or bosses/dungeons where you need to either spend Resin to get their loot or real money.
In a F2P perspective the game is not that bad as long you want to play as a specific character from gacha, those will cost you almost all the resources you can earn in your first week of playing if not more.
0.6% for a 5 stars where a 10 rolls on gacha cost around $19 USD has a guaranteed chance for a 4 star, but that 4 star can be a weapon and not a character.
Dozens of streamers have spend more than 1.000, sometimes close to 3.000 to get a single copy of the character they wanted.
In general the game is amazing, has an open world just like the way a good open world game should have, the combat is fun and well done, some quests are really well done and you can expect the game to become even better in future with more characters, new places to visit and dungeons, but like i said before its very limited for F2P.

Decent, but uninspired all around. Gameplay and graphics are held back by being cross platform. fun but lacking in depth, difficulty or design to keep it that way for long.

-The world is beautiful at first glance, but after a few days of playing, nearly every location (so far) has more or less the same atmosphere. It gets old no matter how much i like it.
-Character designs are quite nice, amber is a favorite, and they are animated fairly well
-Characters have a little more customization than some similar titles, though even with the entire gatcha roster their are fairly few at launch
-Enemy variety is a bit lacking, their are a few variations of each enemy, but that aside their are only a few enemy types, and fewer still that are significantly different in combat
-Combat on the whole has some interesting features like elemental reactions, but some enemies can feel like damage sponges even when you out level them. The AI is fairly basic and and easily exploited if you are willing.
-Map is compact but fairly large and filled with lots of stuff to do. It's very fun and reasonably fast to navigate which almost makes the plentiful teleportation points a pity.
-The characters themselves are passible, their are no grand backstories or anything, and only a couple are really memorable for me. That said every NPC is unique and has at least some dialog.
-The story is nothing special, at least for now, not any huge glaring faults but, not very inspired.
-Climbing is quite fun, though it could be faster. I only dungeons used the mechanic in a unique way, rather than practically disabling it.
-Dungeons are fairly dull affairs, with no puzzles and only very occasional platforming to break up combat slogs.
-loot and rewards are plentiful, but even higher tier chests can be duds and actually exciting finds are quite uncommon after a short time.
-Graphicly it's nicely stylized and smooth aside from a couple of bugs, but ultimately feels like it is being held back by the cross platform nature.
    -Too many menus and currencies
-linear stat increases punctuated with infrequent skill unlocks makes leveling up more boring and less exciting that it should be, though exp items are given with such frequency that combat EXP is practically ignorable, and I often level up 5+ times at once on multiple characters at a time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Genshin Impact starts out unbelievably entertaining and exciting. It's so easy to get hooked and spend hours playing. You get to meet delightful and endearing characters that you would want to be able to play with and level up. It's seemed a little too easy to ascend them all at first. You could easily believe that the game will be consistent in impressing you.

You don't really mind investing resources, thinking the game will be generous to let you grind out upgrade materials because it's a no-brainer, people not only want to pull a character just so they could collect them.

Early on, it’s easy to think like it's a great idea to pull as many characters as you can only to hit a certain Adventure Rank level to realize that you shouldn't have invested in all the characters you got from pulls. Why? Their stamina system, namely Resin, is a heavy time-gate. How much resin you can get is how fast you'll advance. Resin will force you to prioritize building characters that you will need to advance further. What I don't understand is that Resin can indirectly discourage players from spending on pulls, because more characters, more items, that need to be upgraded to become relevant in your current World Level.

Resin takes a whopping 16 hours to fully regenerate to the max capacity, but it just takes 2 weekly bosses to spend it all, or 3 Elite Bosses, or 6 domain runs. Resin is so heavy on time-gating players that it takes too long to regenerate, collecting rewards cost too much resin and there are too many Resin sinks. It does not scale in any way with your Adventure Rank. Meanwhile, the resin costs scale up, because higher AR means more access to resin sinks. The materials required to ascend and to level up not only scale up, but it also skyrockets!

After you happily blaze through all the quests currently available, what’s left are daily commissions and a few world quests with rewards that do not scale up. Doing meaningful activities that push your progress forward becomes mind-numbingly slow.

What do players do without resin? Some are smart and start planing out and getting materials that do not require Resin to collect and open chests that they find along the way. But the more frequently you explore, the emptier and baren the world becomes.

Genshin Impact is just a recently released game so I am hopeful that it will improve to keep the player base invested. While I am truly infuriated by Resin, I am still excited to see how miHoYo will expand the world that is Teyvat.

I played this game for over 50 hours. I'm on AR 40 right now and it feels boooringgg

The story is really good, but why tf the developers are releasing a game with only 20% of the story done? This game has 7 nations but we can only access 2 of them right now, and they are planning to release the others nation in several years, like wtf are you sure the players are still playing and not bored?
The gacha system is even worse, they said this is an rpg game, but you can only get characters from gacha and the rate are very low for some good characters. If you want to upgrade your characters, you also need to get another same character through the gacha system again.
Resin system is even worse, you get only little resin daily and can't really do anything daily. I played for only 15 minutes daily because of the limited resin system.
This game surely has potential and I hope the developers could really update the game and make better system.

I really enjoyed this game until my account hit AR 40. The game is free to download so i thought the developer would take the advantages of gacha and battle pass. But i realized when i was at this level that developers would be extorting more money from players using the resin system. And the game becomes very boring without any missions update, coupled with a big barrier of system, resin.I really enjoyed this game until my account hit AR 40. Now i can only enjoy this game for 15 to 60 minutes a day. I support the developer by using battle pass and blessing. But this resin is really too much. Expand

i think this game have a good aesthetic but the resin system made me as f2p player very struggle to keep my progress on the game, the condensed resin its not enough to resolve this problem, if mihoyo see this post i hope in future update they fix this problem like reduce the refresh time for every 1 resin.

Grafica semplice e funzionale, trama banale e tranquillamente evitabile, buon gameplay.... pochi contenuti attualmente e il sistema Gotcha ne guasta la piacevolezza.

Rather than a typical online game, Genshin Impact resembles a traditional single-player jRPG with a real-time combat. For a free-to-play title it is very impressive, but turns out to be pretty derivative and quickly slumps into monotony. [13/2020, p.52]

Oh, the joy of exploring this beautiful world. Oh, the clever combat, the great voice acting, the compelling story. This is one of the best RPGs of the year. And it’s almost beyond comprehension that you can get it for free.

Overall, in spite of things that should bring Genshin Impact down, the game is so much fun to play that the negatives are ultimately minor gripes. [...] The gameplay is smooth and simplistic, and it works great on all platforms - though I’m still not sure why the PlayStation version can’t be linked to a Mihoyo account so I could play on my phone when I’m not at home (PS Vita version please??) but it’s a small gripe to an otherwise terrific game.
